In general, yes they are insufferable. However, I actually had a nice little chat with one guy while walking to the stadium in Atlanta in August. A Bama fan had a pom pom drop out of her pocket and another one just picked it up and didn't give it back. The guy next to me asked me to not judge the whole fan base based on the actions of one douche. Then we had a good time walking to the stadium, talking about the teams (the guy actually had pretty good football knowledge) and the fact that his wife is from my hometown in CA. Small world. So yes, a large, vocal portion of the fan base is obnoxious and arrogant and annoying, but there are a solid number of good ones too.
Knickname = Carmelo Anthony.
Or Patrick Ewing if you prefer.

So we were pretty much the anti-Oregon.
Correct me if I am wrong but this seems to tell me that our defense played at such a high level that they constantly got our offense on the field.
It's hard not to draw that conclusion with such a high TOP ranking, with the 110th spot in 3rd Down Conversion Offense combined with being ranked 3rd in 3rd Down % Def. Good point, albeit kinda hard to swallow. We got the ball back A LOT and then gave it back and then got it back some more.
I would say that there is a talent drop off from the WR's whom helped out LT (Coale and Boykins) and this group. I think the Paper Boy is certainly a solid possession receiver that any QB will be better for having. I thought he made the leap from Homeless-man-Danny-Coale to Poor-Mans-Danny Coale. Stanford showed flashes and he could be another huge asset, but I don't know if Knowles is going to give us anymore than we've already scene from him in terms of his ceiling. I have no stats to back this up, I am just going off my eye test.
They can help, but if we are going to rely on airing it out, we lose a lot of what kept the chains moving over the last two years (LT's battering ram style runs from anywhere from 4 yards away). We are going to need to be able to move the chains in other ways and the biggest help would be a much improved ability to run the ball.

I was a fan of his recruitment, I would like to see him in Blacksburg especially if he went through some character building in the process and stayed in shape.
Senior QB Bryan Randall would be the only caveat there. He was huge in stabalizing the offense. But we do have a FULLER, so the cycle can hypothetically repeat itself. Where once there was Vince, there is now Kendall.
I think we need to just score more points than the other team.
Seriously though, the running game and the red zone production/3rd down conversion go hand-in-hand. If we have 1st and goal from the 3 or 3rd/4th and short, we should be able to punch it in, no problem. We saw against Duke, BC, MD and UVA (just selecting plays from memory off the top of my head) that we just couldn't do that. In Grimes we trust to get that fixed.

Man, Isaiah Ford is really talented WR prospect. I sure would be happy to see him sign with the Hokies.

Wow, the similarities are pretty creepy actually. Strong start (6-0 run), weak finish, bad bowl game, tailback with a broken leg, special teams that aren't so special, questions at linebacker, Hokies are "no longer a team to fear," and doubts that our bowl streak will continue.
I say let's go get ourselves another ACC championship.
I hate these fluff articles. If you want to write something meaningful, you've got to get into it more than you can do in a long paragraph. Of course, that would also require that the author know enough to write more than a long paragraph.
I understand that he genuinely wanted to be a Hokie...its too bad he wasn't willing to work hard to get there. (if the taking the easy way out story is true.)
