I almost think they move him in the spring...give him a chance to acclimate to the play book, schemes, not waste any more time with him. But yes, of course, he doesn't see action till the fall.
This. I can't agree with that article saying 7-5 would be a good season. I look at our schedule and see anything less than 8-4 as disappointing. That's not to say I'd be surprised, as there are plenty of ways we could fall short of that mark if enough things go badly. But that wouldn't be a good season, now would it?
By Spring I assume you mean Fall, since he's got a good deal of internal body bling in his leg at the moment.

Our running game HAS to improve. There is simply no option. 118 yards per game is not acceptable and can't happen again. Loeffler has a job to do...(as do the players)

Probably Rogers' first TD, simply because the act of him entering the end zone will cause a crater in the stadium that will send shock waves across the physical and electronic worlds.
To piggyback off the RB situation; if you can't run the ball inside the 20 then you are set up for failure as the field shrinks big time hence the past 2 years abysmal numbers in the redzone and a lot of stalled drives.

The problem isn't necessarily the Colleges. It starts much younger than that.
The school system I was in during elementary school had a strict no failing/keep behind policy unless at the request of the parent. They just made the kid go to summer school so they can advance. That led to graduates who didn't know simple math or being able to read a newspaper. It's really a shame that in order to not hurt a kid or his parent's feelings some places are irreparably damaging a students education and well being. Where a couple of hard knocks in elementary or middle school could have helped them become better and more rounded people.

I have a hard time believing he doesn't realize just how cherry his situation is here. Way overpaid to be a TE coach/recruiting coord, IMO, and I'd be willing to bet in an honest moment, in his opinion as well.
Took a relatively minor pay cut w/his demotion from OC rather than going out on his ass, which is SOP pretty much everyhwere, and rightfully so.
I love what he does for recruiting, and think he's doing a fine job w/ our TEs. And as I said, I don't believe its the case, but if he's truly playing this game in the hopes of getting a sweeter deal here than he already has, then he's an asshat.
And if everyone here is right that thinks his value as a recruiter is that big, and an irrecoverable asset loss if he leaves, then VT football is in bigger trouble than we all thought.

The article made me think about this, as well. If a kid gets into college but is only reading on a fourth-grade level, then how in the world did he even graduate high school? I know a lot of this comes down in terms of politics and education policy, so I'm not trying to start a touchy debate here, but I think it is absolutely clear that things are systemically wrong way earlier than college. My mom was an elementary school teacher, and she had kids that were 9-10 years old and couldn't read at all. It was shocking then, and even worse now.
First off - very nice thread starter and very legit question.
I think in order for our QB (whoever it may be) to be successful, and our offense as a whole to be successful, we have to establish our run game. RB's coming in next spring/summer should greatly help that cause.
To coincide with your stats: if I'm Bud Foster, I would DEMAND an offense that can produce. We had an ACC Championship caliber defense (for most of the season until injuries got a hold of us)
Secondly, most of our WR's will return which will help facilitate the QB's progression in the 2nd year of Loefflers offense
He chose to ignore advice from VT and take the easy way out. From those close to his situation in HS, he did not put forth much effort in HS and skated by. When the family were made aware of his deficiencies for admittance, they chose to continue seeking an easy path and ignored the advice. Consequently, he wasted at least two years taking bogus courses. It is unfortunate that his family fostered such an attitude of overindulgence, but it happens quite a bit with athletes (see Tarholes)
The last rumor I heard about Drew Harris was circulated in September by a poster on a TSL forum. Allegedly a VT position coach stated to a large gathering of VT boosters that Drew Harris would be playing for VT in fall 2014.
Note that the ACC requirement for (nonqualifer) JUCO transfers is that have earned an Associates Degree. Based on the interviews last May, Harris was/is on track to do that this spring. VT hasn't done much JUCO recruiting in the past 10 years, but we were ready to take Sgt. Rodriguez as a walk-on if he had bothered finishing his Associates Degree.
Ah, I see what you mean. Sort of what Tony Gregory did last year sitting in on DB meetings and such. Personally, I'd be all for it. Take a very talented athlete from a loaded position and put him in a spot that definitely needs athletic depth.
