I think it's pretty right-on. Anyone expecting magic in 2014 will probably be disappointed. Here's how I see 2014:
1. Defense loses some stud players, but Bud always reloads. Experience matters, though.
2. We lost our best athlete on offense (LT). We have highly touted recruits coming in, but everything is a big question mark.
3. We've had zilch in terms of running game for two straight years, but In Grimes We Trust. Recruiting and development here probably won't pay off for another 2 years or so, though.
My plan? Expectations are low for 2014, and maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. Anyone expecting 10 wins and a shot at the ACCCG will be disappointed, I think, but it's because we're sort of still in transition. I'm looking forward to better years in 2015 and 2016.
Hanging around in the 7-5 or 8-4 range is what I think is reasonable for 2014, and I would not be disappointed if that happened. Having that same record in 2-3 years would be a major disappointment.
Yeah, no kidding. If you know they know the signal for, say, a zone stretch play, why not change the signal so that sign now means a PA off of a zone stretch action? If they're gonna cheat (borderline, but, as mentioned, still sketchy), make em pay.

Why didn't FSU, knowing the Auburn had an ex-qb on staff and had a month to prep, not change their signals? That's a major failure to protect "sensitive" information.

Bingo. I find myself asking how many Tech coaches Barber has actually talked with about Marshall's situation. There are only three coaches who matter in this situation - CFB, Foster, and Wiles - and if none of those guys are Barber's sources, then the story is not any better than swamp gas.
Yes, I'm hoping that Marshall returns next season, but I'm not believing it until I read or hear it from an official source.
It was on-field practice issues and relations with other players that got Marshall into trouble, not any off-the-field stuff as far as I know. But, yes, it was a deep hole.
As far as Barber's story is concerned, he claims he's using an unnamed Tech coach as his source for the good news, then turns right around and claims another unnamed Tech coach is telling him that nothing has been resolved. Right now, I believe the latter is correct - nothing has been resolved.
I agree with what others have already said. I don't have a problem with it as long as its not being video taped or they are watching practices. In HS baseball we used to go and scout games for the playoffs and see if we could pick up patterns in their base coaches' signs. I believe its the same type of thing. Just gamesmanship, nothing wrong here.
It's really only common sense and if you're not doing it, you're almost an idiot. It's the equivalent of the FBI listening to radio chatter and noticing that when certain words are said they correspond to events. Now, if they were filming their practices, which there was no evidence, then there's be a problem.

As long as this isn't another instance of spygate, I dont see an issue here. Like everyone has already said, its a part of the game. The coach already knew the signals so he used it to his advantage without actually cheating. Of course I think this is a completely different conversation had FSU lost the game
Interesting little tidbit about Franklin's contract. There is no buyout, but whoever hires him has to pay for the 31 million dollar indoor practice facility he asked for.

Not surprising. Saban had him on campus before Christmas evaluating his offense to see if he could transition to an uptempo one. Saban is not dumb and knows that is where CFB is heading. Also, supposedly him and Saban are friends, who knew? I can't stand the guy but he is a pretty good OC and Saban keeps all of his assistants on a tight leash, how many times have you seen one give an interview...?

This happens. Is it shady? Sure, it can be. Is it illegal? No. Did Auburn have someone secretly taping them from the stands? No. So really can't blame them for knowing their opponent. Even Jimbo said he "didn't have a problem with that."

Nice catch. It says that they would have to "pay off" the upgrades including the new indoor field and the new turf 2 years ago. I would assume the turf is paid off but I wonder how much is left on the new indoor field. Also I wonder how they calculate that remainder.
For example, if the 31 million was required brand new but they have since approved and raised 25 million of the money then the amount due would only be 6 million. That's a lot but certainly nothing Penn St cannot pay for. I'll snoop around some more and see if can find how much has been raised so far.
