Why do you say that? I had a great time in Baton Rouge when I went to VT vs LSU.

Never been to Baton Rouge so I can't tell which is bacon and which is the butter knife...

Every coach is due a mulligan or two at various times during their career, but Virginia Tech has posted back-to-back seasons of at least three losses in ACC play for the first time since 2002-03

Hmm, I didn't know we played in the ACC in 2002-03.

Choosing either living in Blacksburg or Baton Rouge would be like choosing either unlimited bacon or stabbing yourself in the thigh with a butter knife.

In my opinion, of course.

This makes me wonder, why does major college football still even use hand signals? This could easily be eliminated by going to a radio in the QB's helmet like the NFL uses. And I don't buy that cost would be an issue... D-1 FBS teams are already spending tens of thousands per year on helmets alone; a few hundred for some radio equipment would be a proverbial drop in the budgetary bucket.

The NCAA needs to pull their collective head out of the sand, realize it's the year 2014, and update the rules regarding sideline-to-field communication.

Especially if FSU is willing to bring him in at this point. They don't have as crowded a backfield and which offensive line would you rather run behind right now? or offensively gives you a better shot at being highly drafted just from exposure.

If I remember correctly, Stiney was rumored to have interviewed with LSU for the same job back in 2012. Something must have made a good impression on the Mad Hatter for Stiney to get another invite.

Either way it would be a loss for Tech on the recruiting front, and it would give another SEC school access to the 757.

Completely agree. He is one of our best recruiters, and would be a great addition to the staff and recruiting efforts of LSU. Definitely would be a loss for VT. LSU may be looking for someone to compete with Bama/Florida/Georgia/South Carolina in getting a solid footprint in the 757. LSU, from what I have seen, has not pulled many athletes from us - Bama and others have.

Good for him. I hope he stays with the good guys though.

It's for their offensive line job. Hierarchy wise it seems like a lateral move, although The Hat and LSU can probably pay more than Frank and VT.

This is the third time (that I can remember) Stiney's name has come up with regards to another job. He put a smile on his face and kept coming to work after his demotion, maybe he wants a new opportunity? Either way it would be a loss for Tech on the recruiting front, and it would give another SEC school access to the 757.

That's an interesting development. Is it OC, recruiting, or just positional. I can't really see OC after what just happened, but then again the Mad Hatter has his nickname for a reason. At least his insanity is more productive than detrimental.

Huh. For what position?

Edit - nevermind, it's in the post. O-Line job. I guess that's a step up? I'd hate to lose him right now, especially with this class coming together so nicely...

Exactly. Besides, the only back on the roster who is comparably gifted is Mackenzie, and he's only got one knee.

I mean I know there are a lot of backs on the roster but the idea that there is too much competition for Drew Harris to come in and compete is ludicrous. He's a big back that would immediately be more valuable than Coleman or Mangus. Trey, Shai, Williams, and Harris would be a monster stable of backs. But in the end were just arguing over nothing because I agree that I think that Drew Harris isnt going to happen.

This is pretty standard in football. It's the logic of hiring coaches or signing players of your main rivals in the NFL. And players have been very vocal about being willing to share plays and calls with their new teams.

He will be coming in to competition from high school players mainly. Even though he went to a JUCO it is definitely faster than high school competition.

Although probably credible, I'd have to agree that there's too much competition at this point in the backfield for him to come in and play any major role here.
