To be fair, he was coming off a torn ACL out of high school, so his redshirt year was mostly a rehab/recovery year. Not to mention the studs in front of him on the depth chart. This'll be a big spring for him to see if he can be a real force at DE for us.

Good to hear that Marshall will still be a Hokie.

What is the situation with Ekanem? He was supposed to be one of our next great Defensive Ends and was one of our top recruits in 2011- but I haven't heard much about him, good or bad, since he got to Tech. His profile shows he has mostly just played on special teams.

As a side note on Ken Ekanem:

He played a few snaps (kicks?) as an interior kickoff coverage man this season.
Although he was no doubt the biggest guy out there, he was still one of the first ones to get down field.
Dudes got some serious wheels.

Agreed. Saban isn't gonna put up with his shenanigans. If he does hire him, I'd like to be the fly on the wall when Saban gives him his "Does and Don'ts" spiel. I bet the looks on Kiffin's face and the color of Saban's would be hilarious!
Also, if they do hire him, perhaps the ego battle is enough to wreak havoc on their execution and team building. I know...Its a Dream...

Idk if I'm making this up (I probably am) but has anyone else noticed how many of the people that used to report for ESPN have left? It's an extremely hollow victory that Im probably making up, but I think since ESPN has gotten so powerful, its quality has begun its downward slide and many reporters noticed and bolted

Other CFL blogs had him rated high as well. Glad he's staying. Helps our defensive front immensely. He is a BEAST!

That's just effing amazing they call it out as a positive point.
A penalty hit that injures a player named as a reason he gets an award.

I wasn't anti ESPN before but, I am now.

I posted that initially and now I realize that the website I went to was slightly off. So I did a little digging and found this gem. Which shows that we are actually 4th in overall wins and 7th in overall winning percentage during the BCS Era. Additionally, I tallied our record since 1999 to make sure our's is correct. It's a pretty cool website, you just put in the years you want to see and it will tally the records in order for you and you can sort by wins and winning percentage. Here you go:

obviously he already has recruiting connections in dc/md/va, but psu already gets plenty of kids from the area so it may be a wash.

While I don't think the hit was that bad, just had an unfortunate outcome. You don't praise a guy for giving another player a concussion. That's just dumb, I can understand wanting to hurt another player (knock them out for a couple plays, but no real long-term damage, just let them know you're there), but to actually applaud a player for injuring someone is not ok.

The problem is with the people in these kid's ears. Remember Jimmy Williams? Draft board had him 3rd round at best. I remember him saying that he'd heard from other people he was a first day pick. He really could have benefited from one more year.
