If you are going to write an article like this you do some research and find some people that aren't already well known. Some of these guys were #1 recruits when they came out of HS. The CFB world is huge and there are plenty of kids out there that have potential to have huge years that aren't well known already.

I don't hate the topic, I just hate the typical lazy research/reporting the ESPN provides.

Cutcliffe is a great coach, but what's the point of hiring a coach you know is only going to be there for 5 years? Unless he brings a stellar assistant with him? Cutcliffe is a great coach, but would be an OK hire at his age. That's not immense stupidity, that's trying to make the best investment possible.

Excellent, excellent fit for Franklin - A Philadelphia native, he has the ability to motivate and bring out the best in his players. Plus - he's got at least two years to work with Christian Hackenberg, who has the potential to be a No. 1 Draft pick and future NFL franchise QB. Not to mention, he is exactly what PSU needs to continue to move forward.

Excited to see him in Happy Valley. Go PSU!

Considering Vandy's AD targeted James Franklin and Gus Malzhan three years ago for the HC job, I'd say a young hire is likely.

Thus Chad Morris is a likely hire to me. Cutcliffe was just interesting to think about/consider.

FWIW, I really don't see Cutcliffe leaving Duke. He's just too old. People won't want to hire him just to have him retire in a few years. They want young, exciting hires, not someone who took 5 years or so to be successful at Duke. Not saying he's not a fantastic coach, but to the untrained eye (aka: the immense population of stupid that exists in college football), he's not a terrific hire. I fully expect to see him finish out his career at Duke, rather successfully too.

agreed 100% - this hire is an embarassment to Louisville, and I think really shows where the AD's priorities lie. I think in the long run, this sets Louisville back tremendously.

I agree.

And hopefully he will end up like his dad, everyone loves the scheme but it doesn't win much anymore.

The bad part is the rest of the article. NFL coaches are considering this a side move to be an OC in the league or one at Bama.

WVU is gonna get murdered in 8 months.

No worries, we don't play them until 2020 (and it's not like they are going to beat Klemson and F$U to get to the ACCCCG)...and he won't stay that long.

Then again, he may be "back" to LOLousiville by then (assuming his 3/4 season per team standard...he will be on his 8th coaching job by then).

As and Auburn fan, the coaching vacancy at Vanderbilt is somewhat worrisome. Seems like a perfect landing spot for Chad Morris or even Cutcliffe from Duke as a dark horse.

In terms of Franklin and Penn State, I think it's a fantastic fit and Franklin is a fantastic coach.

That's just the SEC mentality.

To them, being kicked around at Vandy is better than getting kicked around at PSu.

Shouldn't be too confusing. We'll have the D wear maroon jerseys with maroon pants, maroon helmet and black cleats. The O will wear maroon pants with maroon jersey, maroon helmets and black cleats, BUT they will have white laces.

Well what else do you write about between the MNCG and signing day? It's a dry time for CFB and it was either this or Famous Jameis' accuser wanting to take him to civil court.

I just had an SEC fan try to convince me that Vandy was a better job. WTH.

Mad props to Franklin for what he did at Vandy, but c'mon.

This guy's off to a fantastic start in terms of surrounding himself with quality people and showing he's a "changed man" who will do things the right way. /Sarcastica

One of the guys, I think it was the one sitting to Rodman's right (our left) actually came out and said he was embarrassed by the whole thing.

And they didn't voluntarily change it. When the catholic schools (basketball) left they sued to keep the name. The "remaining" schools choose AAC because it would put them first in the listings.
