I noticed the change (or the announcers did) later in the game, where we were pulling up instead of running full speed at the QB. It seemed to keep him in the pocket more and disrupt the short-mid pass. However, that's about the same time Leal took over for their offence and UCLA started being Oregon.
No need to get him on our team.

Parker was a surprise on that first carry. Only that skinny frame alerted me to who was carrying. He's got some moves and the coaches must be excited to see what he could do with 20 - 30 more pounds of muscle.
I think Danielson is borderline alzheimer. Lundvist (spelled however) just seemed happy to still be in the booth. Not upset, but they didn't do a good job. Being a walkon is great (I was one once), but come on, couldn't they highlight something else about Tech, say all the freshmen starters on both sides for example?
Agreed. Bud accounted for Brett running, and as seen on UCLA's first TD, Dadi was in line to make the tackle and whiffed. Jack Tyler was in position for the second TD run and missed again.
I think seeing how many touches Carlis Parker got out of the blue in the bowl game is a sign the coaches want him getting more involved so I would not be surprised to see him returning kicks or punts in the near future.
The broadcast was so bad, you would never have known UCLA was only leading 14-10 going into the 4th quarter. CBS should be ashamed of themselves for such lousy announcing from veteran sportscasters.
I think the constant cheap shots by the UCLA players finally took their toll at that point in time, and it was all downhill from there. Both Tech and UCLA knew after the Zumwalt hit on LT that UCLA was going to be able to get away with anything, and they did.
Malleck definitely proved it on the field last year. He was a very good blocker and an underused weapon in the passing game. There's a reason Lefty was so high on him and largely designed his offense around Malleck's skillset. Cline is talented, but has a lot of work to do in the blocking aspect of the game. That said, the two of them will present a very formidable TE combo that should be a major strength of the offense next year.
We have no reason to believe Malleck is the guy. Great in practice, great hype from coaches, but Cline proved it on the field. Malleck is the #2.

He can pull in a 757 recruit. I don't want one recruit. I want an actual team. That guy has inflated people's perception of his recruiting abilities by getting two top recruits. Sorry. Rant over. I just really don't like him.

Eh. I don't think so. He does a lot to encourage the offensive players. You get the impression that he's glad to see improvement on the offense. The better the offense does, the better the defense can do. He understands that. I can't really cite any evidence that that's what would happen though. We can really only say if he gets the chance. Honestly I think he would be our Gus Malzahn.
It is not a win or lose thing for me. My reason(s) for not going is related to the topic. Are we calling it being rusty? Lack of preparation?
Haha you really put some thought into this, kudos to you. I can't really respond to it all, but one of the main things I want to say is that I believe Virginia Tech would be a great school for an up and coming coach to go to. It has a small history of success now, is in a pretty decent recruiting area, and has some fairly decent national recognition. I wouldn't mind a guy that came from small-town nowhere to make a national name for himself. Obviously though, typing what I want in a coach is a lot easier than actually finding that, but that's what I'm looking for going in to the future. I'm not very keen on hiring in-staff for a head coaching position because even though it may be a new person, I still feel that the previous head coach has influenced them too much over the years. I worry that if Bud was the head coach we'd have an even more lopsided defensive team rather than a balanced one.

As much as it pains me to say it, I want Mike London fired, and then brought on to Virginia Tech's recruiting staff. The man can't coach worth a damn but by god can he pull in a good 757 recruit. Just DO NOT hand him any sort of gameday responsibilities haha!

Come to think of it, I did tell my middle son (LB) that he should never, ever play like that kid as we were watching.
