Great job, as always, French. I am with you on being baffled at how we lost the Duke and UMD games. I think that the future is bright though, as Leal or whoever gets the starting job next year should have some pretty good weapons around him.

LO freaking L Stefan has caused quite a stir. I live in Alabama and here at work today people are literally "freaking out" - It is like they have already started going through the Kubler-Ross cycle. I am serious. Some are trying to comfort themselves and others, "Don't worry, Saban would never leave us for money." Some are angry at Texas "Greedy, jealous, raiders who think they can buy happiness". THIS actually got said. One receptionist is literally near tears. I was reminded of this:

The only issue I have with the typical "4 4-team pod" alignment is determining the conference champion. Currently, the NCAA allows a 1-game championship. I wouldn't want any alignment where it's possible for a team to go undefeated and not win a conference title, such as the 2002 B1G season when Iowa and Ohio State both went 8-0. In that case Iowa was credited as a "co-champion" and still went to the Orange Bowl as an at-large, but Ohio State was the official "Big Ten Champion".
Yes, the playoff should be the 4 highest ranked conference champions. That would place the proper value on winning your conference; hedge against an 8-5 conference champion dogging its way in; and maintain the tradition of valuing the uninformed, unintelligent, and uber-biased opinions of sports journalists.

I'm apologizing for not liking your idea. Imagine a scenario where Clemson and FSU were both top-10 teams, and we didn't play either (hint - this year). Now, imagine VT is ranked, say 12th overall, but has dominated the coastal. Are you seriously proposing that we get left out of the ACC Championship game (which is essentially a play-in game for your tournament) in favor of having a Clemson-FSU rematch?? Isn't this exactly the scenario (LSU-Bama rematch) that we are changing the system to avoid?
Regarding the Weather Channel image, it was a way at using humor to convey "do better" posted by one of the folks (Billdozer) that make this site possible. I'm an engineer too, so I understand the lack of skill with prose. However, when you post a forum topic, take an extra minute to come up with a sensible title that accurately describes what you're posting. There's no need to sensationalize a thread, people will click and read it regardless. That's how the community here is. This website is one of the few that has forum topics listed on the homepage. Titles you write are easily seen by everyone hitting the homepage, so a little extra time and care before you post would be appreciated.
