Texas is hands down, bar none, the best football coaching job in the NCAA. They have the best facilities, the most money, and the best high school football players in the country who would run through a wall to put on a Longhorn uniform and play for a title.
(Plus, Austin is way, way cooler than Tuscaloosa.)
As far as Coach Beamer, I wouldn't be so sure he couldn't have been wooed away by the Longhorns 10-15 years ago. He played around with moving to Chapel Hill, if you'll remember.
Wouldn't Chuck Clarke be a #2 guy? He's gotten a lot of PT with the Ky. Fuller and Exum injuries.
I like this and I hate this...the cynical side of me says that there is absolutely no way Saban can take a THIRD program to the promise land (National Championship) but odds are with the recruits and resources that he has at his disposal, along with the fact that he is unarguably the best coach in College Football indicates that he will make Texas a QUEEN so to say in College Football (think Chess here, the Queen is the best piece on the board). For some reason I feel better with Alabama at the top than Texas at the top, it epitomizes College Football better in my opinion. AKA some meaningless state (ALABAMA) can control College Football, unlike in most sports where the dominant powers usually come from big markets. I do not think this really matters to us at all though because we will not be in the national picture until 2016 (hopefully).

# | My Case for a 16 Team Playoff Using 2013's Potential Matchups. I disagree. Utah is definitely not marginalized. They are in the PAC-12. Boise's issue was that they were riding their success and looking to jump conference and PAC-12 selected Utah instead. That doesn't mean that Boise can't continue to be good but Peterson also knows that the road he paved is not going to get smoother and went to Washington. It's a smart move for him, but does that mean Boise can't also keep improving? No, not at all.
Let's also use Louisville and Cincinnati as examples. Both were only known as basketball programs and they were able to grow out of obscurity and into major conferences. It has happened before and can still happen in future. It takes time, dedicated school and program, and the even luck of getting chosen to join a new conference but it definitely could happen. UCF is in the AAC, which yes is a shadow of it's Big East days but certainly can become relevant again. UCF is in fact making them more relevant.
I think everyone is somehow wishing that every team somehow gets a fair shake to become a BAMA. That there should be some method of helping these small universities compete on a "fair" level. But you're forgetting while the sports may be "amateur" this is a billion dollar business. This is not youth football where everyone wins a trophy. Companies don't get forced into giving competitors a fair shake at growing into a direct rival. That's ridiculously naive.
Every industry has the powerhouses and the smaller companies. College football is no different and should never be made so.
ot I know, but I cant stand playing as the Hokies. I always become too concerned with the players not performing like they should that I just cant enjoy the game. So I always end up picking a Big12 or Pac12 team that normally has no interaction with the hokies

Ideal situation:
- Notre Dame stops being a baby back bitch and becomes a full-member of the ACC.
- Add a 16th team. From the looks of it, UConn is the best available option
- Create the following four-team pods:
The "Cold as Fuck" Pod: Boston College, Syracuse, UConn, Pittsburgh
The "3 & Half Men" Pod: Notre Dame, Louisville, UVA, VT
The "North Carolina" Pod: Wake Forest, UNC, Duke, NC State
The "Pod of Death" Pod: Clemson, Georgia Tech, Miami, Florida State
- Seven game conference schedule, you have to play everyone within your pod, one team from the other three pods each year and an additional game.
- The final game is chosen through a draft system. The top 8 teams from last year get to choose their opponent, game held at their home stadium. Draft starts with ACC Champion then second best team, third best team etc. The only rule is that you cannot choose a team you're already playing. All of these games will be played on the same weekend.
Benefits of a draft: 1) Good schools/fans are rewarded by having an additional home game 2) The hilariousness that a draft would ensue 3) It would be pretty #goacc

Because "Auburn" is on the 6th grade words list and most of their "fanbase" didn't get past 5th.
Don't forget Terrell Edmunds and Greg Stroman, enrolling fall 2014. And IMO Chuck Clark is #2 with Riley unless one of the 3 newcomers makes the same surprise push for PT that Facyson did.
