That showed with the lack of sellouts this year. Noon kickoff, no Thursday nights too.
Whoops double post

"Hey, that's my line"
Here's what bug me: this wasn't the film review I was looking for.
Ok, on a serious note, I am perturbed why there wasn't the best players on punt coverage. I thought Beamer made it a point to have the best players on special team after the Alabama game.
Can you all help me to understand?
Thanks for the analysis French. It really is amazing how little they are working with on special teams. Something to keep in mind for those who say that Beamer has lost his coaching ability.
There was a time when I used profanity at games, but as I've gotten older and had children I don't anymore.
I actually yell more profanities when watching games from the comfort of my recliner and it's usually not directed at the good guys, but at announcers, officials or the other team!
The first time my wife went to a game with me she was actually surprised at how calm I was!

Applies to fans as well.
This is really shaping up into another solid recruiting class. Welcome to the Hokie Family, Mr. Lewis!
In all of our "bad" losses, there has been a point in about the second quarter where I've almost been able to feel that a loss is coming. This game it was the drive after Maryland housed the punt. It just started to seem like our players were less focused, not playing with the same intensity as they were prior.
True Chachi, and Texas may soon have that.
The only down vote explanations you'll get are if someone fat-fingered it. Otherwise, people are too afraid to say why they disagreed enough to justify a down vote.
Yep - Brandon Flowers gave Wes Welker a nice little shove last night. Took lil ol Wes right off his feet.
First off, thanks for the insight French. I know I'll probably catch some heat for this but is it just me or does anyone else notice what seems to be a lack of effort in some of these losses to what I consider inferior opponents? Not saying from the entire team and I certainly will not call out players by name because I don't believe in that but some of the missed tackles, missed blocks and so on seems to lack some fire and effort just from what I've seen. I noticed a lot of the same in the "heart breakers" last season. I refuse to believe that Maryland's offense can match the talent level of our Linebackers and Defensive Backs but they seemed to get beat a lot on Saturday. Same in the BC game. I won't even talk about Duke because I believe they actually are better than anyone thought they would be. It just seems to me that Xs and Os aren't the only reason for the Hokies losing to some of these teams. I hope that my observations are baseless and it's just a way for me to make sense of losing these games. Thoughts?
After a game like this I hope the coaches go up to the recruits and say "Son, you'll have a chance to compete for playing time right away...obviously".
Can we get this in GIF form so we can watch it over and over?
Keep the DB's coming. We put a lot of them in the NFL and don't we have like 5 starting right now? I saw Roc Carmichel get the start for the Eagles on Sunday.
It's all UVA's fault, and they need to be held accountable on the 30th of November! We haven't gotten our shutout game yet...
I really feel like 90% of the fans in Lane are still loyal and rally this team. I still feel that Lane is an awesome home field advantage. Its just that small percentage of individuals who I probably wouldnt want to talk to in real life either. This thread is making me sound like a dick. Thank you to all of those who stay in Lane til the teams run off the field, even when things go south.
I completely forgot he started over at UTSA. Good find.
Turkey leg for my typo. Sending these from my phone.
Malleck and RVD were both starters on the punt coverage team before their injuries. Injuries have hurt this team all over the place, but it is not excuse.
Maybe I am not making my point correctly. Believe me I can get just as loud at home as fans can at the game when I don't like something. My point is that we need to support our team good times and bad.
Ah. But the one time he doesn't...
If you watch the Colts (Pep Hamilton I might add) or the Vikings, both employ this motion strategy from the shotgun. Eventually, we can swing a pass out and maybe not Edmunds, but Coleman/Mangus might break one. The Colts had a game where a defense left a RB WIDE OPEN. Didn't even cover him.
Once you make the pass, a safety or LB has to cover the RB. That pulls them out of run coverage- perfect for a Logan draw. OR, a corner covers the RB and one of our WRs has a LB or safety covering them.
It also allows us to run the read option (IV? I may be wrong) on the jet sweep.
So IMO, it is extremely beneficial from multiple standpoints. I may be explaining it wrong and Mason or French can clean it up - but I don't think this is a problem. JC Coleman on 3rd downs, well yes I kind of agree on.
You said it best. I agree. Next year will be a better year. I just hope we can finish strong this year.

I really don't care what Duke does against UNC. All I want is for MY Hokies to BEAT the wahoos. I'll be at the game cheering my head off. I knew coming into this season that we'd be lucky to have an 8-4 season. I'm extremely pleased that we have an opportunity to get to that mark. Just beat the damn wahoos and I'll sleep happily every night until next August.
