Needed a good laugh after this dreadful football weekend. Big losses college, pro and fantasy really can take a toll.
The one part of the Philly game that I thought was amazing was when the broadcast crew showed what the $18 million cap hit equals on the Philly roster in terms of talent. There were nine starters on that list including the starting (backup) QB, starting running back, two starting wide receivers and two starting offensive lineman. I think this is the first time I have seen an actual list like that.
All the other times have just been the hypotheticals so it was good to see something solid:
The Redskins would have actual starting safetys
The Redskins would have a legit number two receiver
The Redskins would actually have three offensive lineman that could start for any team in the league.
Right after seeing The Dark Knight in Christiansburg, I saw a Jeep Cherokee that just creamed a bovine on Prices Fork Road. Thankfully, the elder couple inside the Jeep were alright.
What I saw Saturday is still depressing me this Monday morning. :(
This seems to have got lost in the shuffle. The weekend wasn't all bad.
One other point to. STOP THROWING THE PAPER AIRPLANES. As a Hokie parent I am going to do my best to raise my kids to love Virginia Tech but if they do something like that at a game when they go there I will be the first to smack them in the back of the head.
At a game that close our team needs to hear the fans backing them 100%. If you aren't there for the right reasons don't go.

And the thing about it is.
With the Freshmen we have right now, if a few more things fall in line, I can see a NCG run in 2015.
I see the improvements in many things on offense this year. I see enough that it brought into focus what the kids weren't being taught before. It may be part of my frustration with these guys calling for changes now because I think the changes were put in place last winter that might be exactly what they are calling for.
If one of our guys that are redshirt or backups right now is a good QB.
If a couple players step up to take some leadership roles.
If we can continue to develop the Freshman and sophomores that we have, guys with the determination of Rogers and Dadi and Hughes and develop their size, strength and get them the physical training and mental understanding of the game, if we can recruit some guys to back them up then 2015+ can be a thing of beauty.

In case of a five way tie, FSU gets to pick who they want to play.
There were seven teams identified to have broken the "unwritten rule" even though the League office still processed the contract changes so if it had actually been a rule, then shouldn't the NFL have disapproved the changes which is within their power to do?
There were only four teams punished though, the Redskins were hit with $36 million in cap hits, the Cowboys $10 million. The Raiders and Saints were punished in that they did not receive the equal division of the $46 million in cap space that was then given to all the other teams in the league. So the owners that were voting were being told, vote yes to punish these guys and receive an additional $825,000 in cap space for your team for the next two years or vote no and don't receive any additional money. Who is going to vote no to that?
That said, the only part of this process that bothered me was that the arbitrator(who is supposed to be legally bound and neutral) ruled that the penalty must be ok because the Players Union agreed to it. The Players union only cared that the salary level wasn't going to be reduced across the league and after seeing how poorly they negotiated against the NFL regarding the concussion lawsuits, its no wonder they didn't fight this concession about the salary cap hits.

I ain't skeered! Fuck FSU! When this team is clicking on all cylinders we have the best chance to beat them. Would I love to see an ACC team move on to the MNC? You bet your ass I would, but I would not trade a Hokie loss to FSU to see this happen. If we go let's beat FSU, then win the OB match up and gain a shit ton of momentum going into next season.

It adds complexity, but honestly if every single fan in the stadium knows that trey edmunds is going to motion back to running back and run a read option then im sure the defense also knows.

You honestly think with 15 seconds left based on how the team had performed we would have been able to drive 65 or so yards without a sack or interception in order to set up a game winning field goal by a kicker we "picked up at the Walmart"?
Considering at that point Logan was getting hit practically at the end of a three-step drop, I think you be have been a little too optimistic.
I agree with you. But I think bad fans are becoming an epidemic. I mean you see them everywhere these days, no matter what team you're pulling for. I hate that this attitude has infected our fanbase, but just like college teams across the nation having a hard time selling out big games, it looks like this too isn't solely a problem of VT.
That all-time record stat is useless. Most of our matchups against MD occurred before 1950, when VT wasn't exactly good at football. Beamer is 5-2 all-time against MD, 5-1 when we're both members of the ACC. "Statistically inferior" is also hardly an argument, because if we based everything on stats, there would be no need to play. The undefeateds would stay undefeated and the weak would stay weak.
