Yeah, and you can see in the second screen shot above :48, #60 is looking at the guy in stripes, looking for the yellow flag, not the ball carrier. With the ball carrier juking to the right, he's taken himself from the play.
Chuck Clark was the other gunner. Seems he was limited to just special teams duty.
Redman was blocked in the back from the viewpoint I had and later in the game on another return, there were two blocks in the back on the same play that didn't get called.
Yeah that game was a lot of fun...and who can forget the "you're a pussy chant" and the end hahah it was great.
then we fell off a cliff
GOLD
Not sure how this adds up. You're saying if VT beats FSU in the ACCCG THIS year, it will hurt VT's chances of being selected by a committee for FUTURE year's NC playoff?
Even if we disregard the fact that voters should evaluate the current year's team, if VT performs well against the #2 team in the country this year, why wouldn't that give voters confidence in VT for future years? Yes, it would be cool to see an ACC team win it IF VT doesn't make it, but only after all options have been exhausted of VT not making it, so why not root for VT to perform well ALL the time?
Also, take a look at the selection committee. The committee has its obligatory ACC AD (from Clemson), as it does for each of the 5 major conferences, but the other at-large/media members all have ties to conferences/schools in the midwest and west coast (BIG10, PAC12), except for Mike Tranghese who is a former commissioner/creator of the Big East when 6 current ACC schools were in his Big East (including VT of course). So it wouldn't be a stretch to say that 2 of 13 committee members are there that would likely plug a 1-loss or undefeated ACC Champion for playoff consideration.
(source: Wikipedia of course)
For me, bottom line is if VT/FSU/Miami take care of business (i.e. 1-loss or undefeated champs) then they probably won't have to worry about the "image" and will earn their way into a four team playoff. (unless there is a 1-loss SEC runner-up in the picture)
I know the older sister of the UVA guy who scored the own goal. She's a Hokie. She probably brainwashed him into sabotaging them - an inside job!
I up voted you because the paper planes thing drives me crazy. It's such a Georgia Tech thing to do.
coming back and reading this post for a second time...it seems even more ridiculous. THIS IS WHY WE PLAY THE SEASON. If we don't want to face good teams in championship games and BCS bowl games, then WHY THE HELL ARE WE PLAYING THE SEASON? Who cares if we get blown out on national TV - I want the opportunity to try. Football, and sports in general, is about trying. So this is ridiculous, not wanting to have the opportunity to try.
We are not the ACC. We are VT. I wanna see the Hokies do well. I want my Hokies to be champions. To hell with FSU and an ACC team winning the NC. Sure, if they make it to that game, I'll cheer for an ACC team to win. But at the cost of VT winning the ACC? Absolutely not. This is crazy talk.
The best part of this game will be having no expectations, just like MD did on Saturday. What if we lose? It's status quo, people expect us to lose. But what if we win? We shock the world and get a signature victory. Yes I know odds are small, but you don't just not try when the odds are small. FSU fans thought they had no chance to beat a dominant VT team in 05, but they pulled it out. We can do the same.
I hope UNC beats Duke and we beat uva so we get this opportunity. Go Hokies!
And that was when we had a really good player running point for us. I'll take 2-1 with what we have now.
This makes me so much happier after reading about our football team
Had someone two rows in front of me turn around to the two people behind her and basically tell them to shut up. They were being negative nancies and she was like if you aren't sending positive vibes down to the field, just don't say anything.
Oh, I really support their food times.
I didn't know that was a problem.
We feed the cadets that guard the gates near us too.
You, sir, are a saint for pointing all this out. I need to be a better overall Hokie and not just a football fan
Impressive offer list. Glad he chose us!
Plus women's soccer won, wrestling won all three, women's basketball took two and men's basketball has a chance to take their second.
Sorry should have clarified before. What I meant is that I am afraid of being hit by a car whilst attempting to have sex.
You get a leg I' Turkey for that weirdly inspirational and all apparent tagline.
He might be a pencil hawking old man, but sometimes he gets it absolutely correct.
FIRE THE NEW VIDEO BOARD!
It is tough to sell Hokie Club memberships and upgrades when we lose to games in which we are favored, AT HOME. more wins=more donor money, it's that simple.
Would be nice if a down vote was coupled with a replied explanation.
Just out of curiosity, where were you sitting? I've only sat on the west side once and it was a much more tame experience. Granted that was App St a couple years ago so there wasn't much to complain about. I've got my first on the way next year, so I've got a few years before she goes to a game but it's definitely something I think about too. I try to stay as respectful as reasonably possible, I had a family sitting behind me with a couple teenage girls Saturday and I apologized beforehand for the profanity they would hear and the fact that I would be standing the entire game (I hate that I have to worry about that, but at 6'6" I'm going to block a big chunk of the game and I do feel bad for whoever is behind me, though if I sit my knees are going to be bothering anyone in front of me so it's lose-lose). I never attack a player or coaches job, but I will occasionally complain about play calling or blown plays. I guess I'm thinking that a move to the west stands will be in order once I take a child, but I don't know if the difference in atmosphere is just in my head.
I think it's cyclical -the fan's receive more and because this is in the spirit of competition, the quest ultimately ends in the expectation of a BCS championship being the only measurement of success... CFB exponentially accelerated the fanatical desires by placing an empty trophy case with a 'reservation' -quantified further with the taste of a championship back in '99.
As with most upstarts -and let's be real, VT doesn't have a pedigree, it's an arduous route to achieve and maintain that upper echelon of football royalty. And even then there's a lot that goes in to the path supremacy the Alabama's and other top-tier football factories -err, I mean "schools" can sniff to get to national championship opportunities.
As fairly pragmatic this community is here on TheKeyPlay, we are still culpable in the beast that's been created in the expectation of Virginia Tech football.
Rantings...

ACC's video streaming won't work in my office for some reason, so here's the embedded YouTube video for those in the same boat.
