Any team that can block shots and protect the paint as well as Dot and JVZ can, will win more than 9 games. Trust me. Especially with the new hand check and Block/charge rules, you will see more scoring, so if you can cancel some shots at the rim, the better your team will be.
Well, to be fair, both teams finished last year with identical 13-19 records, and theirs came in the Big 12... which isn't exactly the ACC.
Doe Doe got Suspended from Florida last week. You gotta do something real bad to get suspended from Florida.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lost my phone over the weekend sooooooooo thats a no go
Do you think that if we get enough people to petition that they'd allow us to elect the replacement on TKP? If so, I'm willing to put my name forward.
As AD, my primary agenda will be to push ESPN hard towards making every home game a night game, including those on ESPN3; having AT LEAST one Thursday night game in Blacksburg each season; ensuring that we do not lose amazing non-revenue sports coaches just because Oklahoma is willing to double their salary; and, last but not least, bringing back Stick-It-In.
In all seriousness, I wish him the best in his fight against Parkinson's. The little bit I know of the disease is devastating. He took us from occasional football success atop the Big East to national relevance in most sports across the board. He will be sorely missed. Hopefully whoever we bring in doesn't lose a beat on that front.
Duke loses it's next three games...I'd place a dime bet on it.
I really really liked having Wilson and Smith in the backcourt together today with Emelogu at the 3 and Eddie as the 4. Raines and JVZ both looked like solid rim-protectors today if it weren't for the refs being ridiculous on fouls (for both teams). So I think having those 2 rotate would work well. That was the best line-up from what I saw.
Just donated! Also - one minimum donation is already 3% of the goal! All we need to reach it is 40 people putting in $25 each. We should easily be able to hit that.
Credit to Raines for playing smart and highly effective defense late in the game with 4 fouls though. You expect your senior leaders to make plays when it matters, and he had a couple of blocks coming down the stretch.
Boom! First donation made!
Handing the ball off to a TB or RB will get after'ya!
Sounds good. I'll give you a call after work
Can't say I feel for LOLUVA - I'm still wondering how they beat BYU. I'd be happy if they became Duke for the next 15 years.
DA U aint back
Our punter stole their swag
The first 15 minutes were ugly but the last 25 minutes was very encouraging. Anytime you block 13 or 14 shots in a game against anyone; your playing your tails off on defense. It's just one game but if they can play "this" style the entire season and these young players continue to develop; anything is possible. They defiantly didn't look like the worst team in the Acc today.
I left for class when we were down by like 16 and fading fast. I check the score at halftime and suddenly we are right there in it. Didn't pay any attention to the lecture after that because I was watching the game online. Really exciting to see the freshmen perform so well.
Nope. That was '05. This one was Tech's first season in the ACC. Randall was still under center. Also, Tech never scored an offensive TD that game but STILL beat them.
I wish Jim the best of luck in retirement and a speeding recovering from his two hip replacements that were mentioned in the press release.
They keep up the block numbers and they might set a record. Never seen so many credits for blocks in a game. 13 blocks according to ESPN. I concur on the turnovers. ESPN gamecast was frustrating to see X Player gets defensive rebound and five seconds later X Player commits turnover, happened at least five times.
and Hammer Throws!
Do we have another Richmond alum on TKP??

Frank Beamer has withdrawn his name from consideration.

I think the 2 turnovers back to back combined with the fact that VT turned those into two TD's (can't remember the last time I saw that happen) were great.
Recovering fumbles inside the 5 were great. But the backbreaker for me in my opinion was the Stanford TD on 3rd and 17. Miami had just scored a TD to go down 7, and they were 1 play away from putting Shaky Leg out there to attempt a 40+ yarder in the rain (yikes). Instead, Stanford breaks free and puts VT up 2 scores and we never look back.
All plays were awesome, I was so jacked up after the game I watched the replay the entire replay. Where has this O-line been, keeping LT upright, allowing for the crossing routes to develop, setting up 2nd and 5-or-less with first down runs. Looked damn good.

I wasn't a student, but 1998 Temple (that game never happened btw) and 2002 Miami - Never looked at Ernest Wilford the same after that.
