Yesterday. Looks like a lot of the 247 guys are flipping their picks. Most had Louisville, but yesterday pretty much everyone flipped. Most say Mizzou.
Oklahoma at Baylor -14.5 - Da Bears
Oregon -10.5 at Stanford - Ducks
Penn State at Minnesota -2.5 - This is one Hokie that celebrates with the Gophers!! Minnesoooooota FTW
BYU at Wisconsin -7.5 - Badgerbadgerbadgerbadger
Virginia Tech at Miami -6.5 - Homer pick of the week - HOKIES!!!!
LSU at Alabama -12.5 - I think 'Bama will skate on through this one
How recent are the Schurburtt and Watkins predictions?
What if I told you...that a team that lost to Duke and Boston College came back to play for it all? ESPN's 30 for 30 series proudly presents "The NationLOL Championship Game"
For the love of all that is good and holy...
Did you need to post that picture?
SO PRICELESS! Definitely a UVA GRAD. Where do find material like that?
If health was an issue, not sure he'd have worked out anyway. Maybe the Tribe job is him chillin' out a bit.
If Logan can throw for 391 against BC then he could throw for at least 300 on a very suspect Miami secondary. If he protects the ball is the big question however, and I think if he does the Hokies win comfortably by like 2 TDs or so.
too soon
Better man than me. I would have flipped two middle fingers in the sky all the way to JMU.
Then I would have called all the recruits that I had in the fold for this year and said, "Remember all that great stuff I told you about the Hokies? I lied. None of it's true. You'll never play one down, and Bud Foster sleeps with a night light and wears footie PJs."
While I agree that you're probably right, I would hope you understand that "Do the exact same thing as the last two weeks and hope for different results" isn't the most comforting notion for a fan with regards to the offensive strategy for this game.
Well yeah, it's more of a realistic analysis than a comforting one. There's only so much time to practice in the week, and switching offenses mid-stream could do more harm than good. Tactics are important, but having your players confident and/or familiar with their roles and your scheme is invaluable. An offense that is fully invested in a 1960's offense will be more productive than one that is wishy-washy about running a modern day Oregon-type attack every time.
Plus, I'm not convinced there is ANY scheme Loeffler could have used which would have allowed the Hokies to drop 40 on every opponent. Not with the talent level on the team right now. What he should have done was spent this season building a brand and, more importantly, an identity for the offense moving into next year. Even if Loeffler went full Addazio and ran the ball non-stop, I doubt he'd have much success. Sadly, Tech doesn't seem to have the necessary athletes to dominate on Offense regardless of what plays the OC is calling.
The 247 Crystal Ball has him at 71% Missouri but the two smartest people IMO when it comes to predictions (Shurburtt and Watkins) both have him going to Tech.
hahahaha duuuuuuuude... you don't even knoooooow

Highlights from basically every game, starting in 93
This has driven me crazy too. I don't get why 5 yards really matters that much, but Frank really emphasizes the whole field position thing. So maybe 5 yards is a big deal in his mind.
Foster can turn just about anyone into a great LB if they meet the minimum physical requirements, are smart, and have the necessary drive.
If you gave him a player who is very athletic as well as having the other two traits, Foster could create a monster. See: Adibi.
Frank Beamer's use of timeouts has driven me crazy SO MANY TIMES it's unbelievable. Nothing as bad as Mike London's infamous icing time out, but stuff like wasting a time out early in the fourth on a punt play... rather than just letting the play clock run down and take a five yard delay of game penalty. As if a five yard penalty on a play when you are already planning on giving the ball back to the opposition is going to make or break the game...
Just think about Tyrod's legacy. When people think of Tyrod, how many people think about his struggles throwing the ball early in his career? None. It rarely (if every) gets brought up. Tyrod was so inconsistent that SEAN GLENNON routinely took snaps away from him.
But no one remembers that. Tyrod had a magnificent senior season and that's all anyone remembers... and that's all they should. If Logan leads Tech to the ACCCG, then his legacy should be a very positive one.
How do you feel about his in-game adjustments?
It depends on which stats you're looking at, Our ToP is currently 23rd in the nation at 32:33 per game, compared to 30:12 last year and our 4th down conversions are 10/15-66.67%, compared to 7/20-35% last year The first site that I linked earlier has the % slightly lower, possibly missing one from the last game, but ranked 19th in the country.
I bet that the Hokies come out trying to run the ball more in this game..while trying to force Miami into mistakes as that get inpatient or greedy.
Your correction is spot on and well received. The wife's an education major and is constantly busting my chops about my lazy and uneducated writing style. Some day I'll fix that, but in my current line of work, grammar and formatting isn't really a priority.
But if he had stayed at Tight End, Stienspring and Newsome would have inevitably moved him inside to guard.
He's doesn't even have any of the Hokie records for interceptions, let alone all of FBS. Strait from the Record Book on Hokie Sports:
Most Interceptions Thrown
Game: 5 Maurice DeShazo vs. Virginia - 1994
5 Will Furrer at NC State - 1991
5 Don Strock vs. Houston - 1972
5 Steve Casey at Duke - 1981
Season: 27 Don Strock - 1972
Career: 47 Don Strock - 1970-1972
LT3 by comparison has thrown:
Game: 4 (Duke 2013)
Season: 16 (2012)
Career: 38 (2010-Present)
That means that to get to the Hokie records for Interceptions, Logan would have to throw:
Game: 5 or more interceptions in one of the remaining games.
Season: 15 more interceptions in 4-5 more games
Career: 9 more interceptions in 4-5 games
So far this season he is averaging averaging 1.33 interceptions per game. To set a new Hokie season record he would have to throw 3.0-3.75 interceptions per game over the last 4-5 games. For the Career Number he would have to throw 1.8-2.25 interceptions per game over the last 4-5 games. To reach any of the numbers he would have to consistently be worse his current season average on Interceptions per game.

I'm thrilled if any kid decides to don the O&M. I just hope if he picks us tomorrow, he'll pick us again on his LOI.
