What a great night for football! What I am going to do for it you may ask (no one is). Well tonight I am celebrating the Festa di San Martino, or St Martins Day for you non-Italalians. The patron Saint of Wine. The wife and I are heading to our favorite restaurant for a 5 course meal paired with wine from Travaglini Winery and hosted by Cinzia Travaglini. This is Seattle, so there are no TVs at this place. So I will tifaux the Ducks game and watch when I get home. The chances of me remembering any of it, 20%, chances I fall asleep during it, 97%. I will be drinking a F-ton of wine tonight.

Ducks

Bears
OU
Stanford
PSU
BYU
VT
LSU
Not sure of the exact timeline, but I do remember reading about the FG block earlier this week, possibly on Monday or Tuesday.
Oh hi there.
Leally, guys? Leally?
Or when he's at the 50 yard line in a tied game in the 4th quarter and his defense has been dominating Michigan in the Sugar Bowl.

Baylor - High times in Waco.
Oregon - Can we finally have an Oregon-Bama title game to send off the BCS?
Minnesota - Gophers definitely have something going on
Wisconsin - Unless Wisky lets the refs handle clock management
Virginia Tech - Feeling good about this game. Or I am just numb to the pain by now.
Alabama - Bammer can be beaten, but not by this LSU team. Should be an interesting Iron Bowl.
Abbaye de Fontenelle Biere Blond. French monks cooking up some strong ales, can't get this stuff in Germany.
While I didn't down vote this, I have accidentally fat-fingered down votes in the past. I know on my phone the page changes its size at the last second when it completes loading, which throws off impatient me. It's possible I am not alone...
Plenty of folks have stated they have accidentally downvoted while using a mobile device for viewing the forum. I certainly don't think a single downvote is a big deal, seeing as how any accidental downvoters could (and should) just hit the up-vote button and move along.
Kevin Rogers is only 5 years younger than Beamer.
I was as ardent an anti-Stinespring guy as you'll find, but when he stepped aside, took a demotion, and remained with the team he loves, he earned a lot of points in my book and I forgave the man. I think everyone in the Hokie Nation should, too. Great guy, out of his league as OC. To each his own.
I agree, as to point 2 I seem to remember watching the ESPN video when they featured VT and he did talk to the receivers coach about having the receivers practice catching high throws. So he does get involved in the coaching of the coaches aspect when he feels he needs to.
Not much, except the reason I think we fail to win those "big games" including BCS games is because he doesn't fire up the players like other coaches can. Dabo, Les Miles, and Urban Meyer do that pretty well.
As I stated in a previous thread, I am a former FBSer (Fire Bryan Stinespring). I was ALL IN on that blog. I even own two FBS t-shirts (and I even wore them proudly to work). I didn't make up that term but I won't deny that I've used it a number of times (and worse). If you did downvote me I wouldn't hold it it against you just like I won't hold it against said TKPer (and Hokie fan more importantly). Being that I was an FBSer I cannot promise that I won't use scathing remarks when referencing him in the future. Thanks and a leg.
I asked Andy Bitter that on his live chat today. He hypothesized that Facyson was practicing, but may not have been 100% ready to go. He did play a tiny bit against BC, and with all due respect to Exum, I still think the Brandon Facyson that played against Pitt was a better player than Exum was last week.
Also troubling, Mark Giannatto from Washington Post quoted Foster as saying that Nicolas got limited snaps because he didn't go into the game when his field goal block group was called upon:
Foster said Dadi Nicolas didn't play much at BC, in part, b/c he didn't come out on field for opening FG block. Wiles worried about mindset.— Hokies Journal (@HokiesJournal) November 7, 2013
That is well and good, but earlier in the week the same coaches were saying that Dadi didn't play much because of Boston College's personnel groupings. Something about that just doesn't sit well with me. Now, the staff either lied to the media or Dadi now has another question to deal with about being a problem. (Stolen bikes, now not being ready to play.) I don't understand what is gained by changing the story mid-stream.
Thanks and a leg as it's always great for French to frequent a post. And I have stated that this is "not a Fire Frank Beamer thread." Nor is it a "analyze his job" thread either. It's simply a (very) laid back (or not) look at CFBs weaknesses. Let's face it, even among all the coaches that have won a MNC, there's zero such thing as the perfect coach. They've ALL got weaknesses. This does not exclude our beloved. Beamer Sr. I just wanna know what folks think and see. Thanks again for your post.
I'm not going to downvote this...but "Stinefuck"...really dude? Really?
Great point on Logan's legacy- a 9-3 visit to the ACC Championship is enormously different than a 8-4 visit to a middle-tier bowl game in the minds of Hokie fans.
That is, assuming we beat Maryland and UVA.
Oklahoma covers, but Baylor will win
Quack Quack
Penn State
Wisconsin
VT
LSU covers. Hopefully win, but at least covers
Baylor
Oregon
Rest tomorrow
Now that's some contagious enthusiasm!!
It is the wrong time to analyze Beamer's job performance. I have said repeatedly the following:
1) Beamer is someone who delegates authority. When things are going right, his only impact on the offense is deciding on if they will go for it on 4th down. Periodically in the past, the offense has been cute early in the season, and as the season progressed they changed styles, and perhaps that had some Beamer influence (most likely delivered through Billy Hite.) The classic examples were the early efforts to implement a zone blocking cut back oriented running scheme, and then November comes and we would see more power plays from the I formation circa 2004-2009.)
2) Loeffler and Grimes are OUTSIDERS, and I am sure that Beamer wants to allow them as much opportunity as possible before interceding. He is a smart enough football mind to understand that if he steps in now before Loeffler and Grimes are established, he undercuts their ability to build their system for two to three years down the road. We have to understand, even if they ran the table and went undefeated this year, the Loeffler/Grimes/Moorehead hires can not be measured until they at least have a majority of their own recruits contributing to the offense.
Listen, I don't like the running system, and I like it less when I see the offensive line being blamed for the running game struggles (see today's Andy Bitter live chat) when they have played pretty well. Nobody is more critical of poor line play than me, but that criticism in unfair. As we have pointed out, in the RARE instances that the Hokies have ran traditional running plays, they have executes well.

Not phenomenal, but he did turn Bryan Randall into an All-ACC player and while MV2 was here, he led the league in passing efficiency and scoring offense. He's about the same level as Loeffler - coached some greats in College (McNabb, Jarius Jackson at ND) and in the pros (Farve).

Lets GOOOOOOO! Dam i am amp'ed up for this game. Today feels like Friday not sure how I am going to make it another 48hrs. I hope the team feels the same way! A health dose of R-E-S-P-E-C-T needs to be dished out on the field via Defensive Intimidation! "Let the bodies hit the Floor!"
