Looks like you're about to surpass me, too. A meteoric rise for a youngster. *Sheds tear. I'm so proud...

I think we will be ranked this week. However, we have time for jumping board. We have Miami and the acccg. I'm sure we will creep. Honestly though, this season ranking won't be that important. We aren't going into the nat champ game. I don't see Bama or Oregon falling. And, in the ACC, Clemson has the best chance to get there. So not sure what other reason ranking will help, as standings in the ACC and our fan base will be picking what bowl we get.

Baylor might be a force to be reckoned with. I still haven't seen them play a single snap. Thursday, Nov 7 they play Oklahoma. I'll be tuning in for that one.

Focus on the opponent we play this week. Period.

Actually, I think we're still in install/refine mode with the offense. Sure, we might emphasize a strategy for a particular team, but I think we still need to focus on executing our own game plan, and doing that as flawlessly as possible. Loeffler will be able to make the calls based on the situation, but if we aren't doing what we want to do well, no play call will make up for it.

One day at a time. Pitt next

Add that Logan looks slow. Handoffs seem to take forever, and I keep thinking it's no wonder their D has time to read it.

Gotta let Lefty do his game plan. When we started to try and run on 1st, I found myself wanting him to pass like the GT game. In the end, he had a good game plan. He said himself that he messed up in the 3rd quarter, but won't apologize since VT got the win.

I feel like we now have both coordinators preparing per team, rather than our O always doing the exact same thing game in and out.

I hear you, but I can say that yesterday was the least stressful (non-Western Carolina) game all season. It seems like Loeffler takes what the defense gives him, and people are yet to respect Logan or our receivers, so they continue to stack the box. Not saying there aren't O-line issues, and I'm definitely concerned about our ability to run consistently if we are forced to, but we are no longer dealing with play calling that doesn't take the defense into account (BUBBLE SCREENS ON BUBBLE SCREENS ON BUBBLE SCREENS!)

I am also disappointed in the 4th quarter touchdown, but the game was over and I would say our defense is currently EXCELLING at closing people out.

Lastly, with regards to that Killer Instinct, I actually see a ton of passion and fire (without crossing the line into punching people) and this has been one of my favorite Hokie teams to watch, warts and all. Our defense is just a joy and watching our offense mature and come together feels like watching your child grow up (probably a sign I take VT football too seriously). If we can get to the point where we run it down our opponent's throats whether they know it's coming or not, that will complete the puzzle.

I actually think FSU gonna roll Miami. There qb is too damn good

I like payton, but I don't think they best gonna offer him. Hes the 4th best LB they are looking at.

I'd love to see the brilliant TKP analysis team tackle the subject: "WTF is wrong with our running game?"

Backs look timid. Scheme looks unorganized. OL seem to have failure across the board. Are we getting the box stacked?

Where is my NOVEMBER IS COMING GIF with Ned Stark?!?!

Three main thoughts I had about the game yesterday:

1) It's been said above, but we don't have much of a running game. I want to believe that it is because we're practicing the passing offense more than we are the running offense. At least, this is how it looks, and as long as we continue to have success through the air, I'm fine with it. But if we end up playing against someone with a good secondary and a decent pass rush, we're in trouble.

2) The D seemed to let up a little at the end. The game wasn't over and I got that knot in my chest late thinking, uh oh, I thought this game was over, but now I have to pay attention again.

3) Related to both 1 and 2, we don't seem to have that killer instinct yet. We seem to be able to take the lead but have a hard time closing anyone out. This is going to lead to a lot of indigestion.

True dat. Third down is LIGHTZ OUT in Scott Stadium, ALL DAY.

A few observations from the games I watched (and the scorelines I saw scrolling across the bottomline) yesterday.

1) Why oh why can't we have a TV contract that gives smaller ACC game to other networks.

2) I picked MD to beat FSU. Touche, Winston, touche. Biggest beat down this side of...

3a) Baylor smoking West Virginia. "But hey, that's how long I smoke MY meat"
3b) I wanted to tune in to see Oregon/Colorado when Colorado was up 10-0 early. I realized I don't get the PAC12 network, and by time I did so, it was 50-16. I only really ever want to see the 1st quarter of Oregon games. It's odd that I've accepted that Oregon is just going to beat everyone, but still never think they're good enough to play for the MNC.

4) TCU giving a scare to OK. No one in the Big 12 really looks all that good. I "saw" the OKSt/KSU game on my computer monitor after the Hokie game was over on ESPN3. Does anyone have a good experience on ESPN3? The only thing that wasn't terribly pixelated and choppy were the commercials, which came in crisp, clear, HD (high definition). The actual game action bordered on unwatchable. Or maybe it bordered on watchable. Purple and orange blobs on the screen

5) #allTheSECGames were played at night and all on major networks. AND I STILL HAD TO WATCH VT ON ESPN3!! Arkansas is an enigma. Florida appears to be consistently mediocre at this point in the season. LSU turned on the afterburners after halftime. Both Mississippi schools are still the Mississippi schools.

6) GEORGIA/TENNESSEE WAS BY FAR THE BEST GAME OF THE WEEKEND. This game had it all. Aaron Murray ran for 57 yards because all of his receivers appear to be deceased. Their third and fourth string RBs are really good. They managed to win anyway. If they don't suffer more injuries, this looks like the team to beat in the SEC. And that includes Alabama. They don't play Alabama or A&M in the regular season and already beat LSU. Cocktail party on Nov 2 looks like their biggest date left.

7) GT/Miami looked exactly like USF/Miami. Miami screws around for the first half and then pumps it up the later it gets. Duke Johnson is an absolute man. Their receivers do Morris a bunch of favors, but the kid is good. Imagine if they still had Storm Johnson and Teddy Bridgewater. First they took away the dive. Then they took away the option. Then they took the ball out of the air and into the endzone. And then PJ came and took the QB out. Don't expect to see much of Vad Lee the rest of this year. I think PJ has given up hope on him.

8) I had NW'ern winning. This was another good game. OSU was clearly bigger, stronger, and faster, but NW'ern hung with them most of the game. It was only a matter of time until OSU wore them down. NW'ern is good, but they look like the JV team for Stanford. Plays smart and hard, but a little too small and a little too slow. They'll beat a lot of teams that they compete with, size-wize.

9) Ball State > LOLUVA. I wish I could have said I predicted this. Oh wait, I did. (I know, I know, self-promotion is the mating call of the mute button)

10) AzSt likes playing football in the fourth quarter. Tommy Rees does too, and likes throwing interceptions the rest of the time. Stir up the echoes, ND is back, baby! Wait, what? Did you say they went to the MNC last year? Hmm... well, they're back again! With a winnable schedule until the last game of the year vs Stanford (who is bigger and meaner than NW'ern).

11) I was too tired to watch the Stanford game, but Washington is no joke this year. Funny to hear myself say that. Also funny to see WashSt double up on Cal. Oh Cal, how far you've fallen.

12) The Big2/Little10 has two teams from Michigan who are as overrated as any in the country. Quit wasting my time!

Yawn. Marathon viewing is tough.

Yep - in fact you could count Polk as one of the most effective presidents ever. Added four states to the union and fixed the northern border with Canada and the southern border with Mexico. He was such a boss that he even gave Mexico back despite having won it fair and square.

I was SO FAR OFF when I picked MD. I drank the Kool Aid.

I also picked NW'ern, though. And Penn State.

But I got VT, Miami, Stanford, ND, Florida, and UGA. By the skin of my teeth.

They won't be there for long, I could see them losing at least 2 or 3 more games.
