I (along with everyone else) was disappointed with the running game. If we can't power it down their throat, than spread them out and let our guys use their speed and athleticism. I was hoping to see some triple option, but that never came either.
The Defense was lights out though, all the way around. They will win some games (like last year) by themselves. But if the kicking game doesn't return, we're in for a nail-biter every week.
Sad but true, so looking forward to VT's offense being able to score efficiently. Not sure what it will take, but being able to run the ball and hit short passes would be a nice start. Every week something bites them in the butt. Bad kicking and no running lanes this week, drops previously, when do they break the code and score points? Please let it be soon so that Bud does not have a stroke or choke somebody out.
Until then, let's praise Bud.

Good concepts in the passing game by Loeffler. I would focus much more on the Rushing attack out of the shotgun rather then pistol because I think that fits our personnel better, but it's hard to blame a guy for installing and coaching what he believes in. Eventually his personnel will catch up to his system.
Could've used both Gibson as well as Moore. Other teams would've played them to give themselves a better chance. I'm sure we did the right thing, but this tough love crap is giving me a heart attack!

UPDATE: Some shakeup on the Hokies' offensive line. Brent Benedict will start in place of Laurence Gibson at right tackle. He worked in some last week against Western Carolina before shifting to right guard when Miller went out with an ankle sprain.

Catchable drops were less pronounced today, the only one that really stood out was Stanford at the end of our 3rd possession. We're making progress, people, just don't expect the results to be night and day. As long our defense keeps playing tough ball, we have a great chance in every game.
Whatever it is, I have a feeling the OL will have quite the workout with their buddy, Jeff Grimes, this week.
saw some bama fans watching the game at a department store. Walked up after bama had a fifteen yard rush and said"that's no Virginia tech defense" after seeing my VT shirt they had nothing but good things to say about our D.
