Personally, I think of him more as any offense's devil...
Can we get him some horns....??
I think that we proved that if the opposing defense places too much attention on our running game that we can be competitive in the air. I was glad to see Knowles looking the part. Byrn on the crossing route was nice to see as well. Another step forward in getting ready for conf. play. Journell hopefully never does that again.
And, I think we created a season's worth (for most other teams, that is) of highlights on the defensive side of the ball yesterday. Not sure I have ever been as excited to see the OTHER TEAM get the ball as I was during this game and anticipate being in upcoming games. STIFLING, SWARMING, NASTY, LUNCH PAIL D.
It's all about recruitment.
I think we've had a huge upgrade in coaching staff and I love the fact that they are finding the best players and putting them in the best positions.
I think a lot of the attrition that we saw over the summer was the new guys encouraging those that didn't fit the mold of an ACC championship player or had the wrong attitude to beat it.
I think our cupboard was a little more bare than we thought.
Now that's done, they have to get their type of player in.
If they can then we may have something here in a year or two.
Missed it.
What did he say?
My younger brother is an ECU grad.
I kinda view their program as VT's 'little brother': I support them and love it when they win, but am very competitive when they play us. And because of that, they just can't beat VT because it goes against the family hierarchy.
And when he gets pissy when they lose it's no big deal.....just give them a big ole head noogie and say 'maybe next time.'
Long time lurker, but recent member. Love this site for news, knowledge, and laughs. You guys are the best.
Sorry we're not sorry about you losing and us winning!
Great movie, Kubrick really was something else.
"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here, this is the War Room!"
1. Scrap the fucking gimmick ass pistol.
Yet, many NFL offenses are using the pistol with great success. It's not a gimmick, and the many of the BEST offenses are using it. 49ers, Redskins, Philadelphia, Oregon, Clemson,
2. Run the fucking thing on first down.
I agree, to an extent. If it's not working, you gotta figure out something else. "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." -Albert Einstein
...<thinks for a moment> Oh! He's leaving him out to dry!!! Tracking like a train, now.
I was going to say he had a HELMET, then a hand, then a shoulder...
I was going to post this exact comment. Fucking losers.
Thanks FREAK! The latest highlights are now posted incase no one else got the email :)
Thanks for video support. I can't put this on the refs though, researching it, Stave should have downed it better, and I can see why the sun devil jumped on it, he saw it as a fumble. I call bad play by Wisconsin.
I think the fact that the Wisconsin QB didn't spike the ball down, instead just laid it down had a huge factor in the confusion. Can't say I don't give a flip or like the Big Weak ;)
Saban still showing VT respect during Fowler interview.
Here's the video for anyone who wants it.
Other than it was a debacle, I'm not sure what the takeaway is. Serious judgement error to try to position the football for field goal attempt with no timeouts and so little time left on the clock.
They can stay butthurt..see us again ;)
I would have loved to run it on first down as well, but we tried that over 75% of the time, and it yielded nothing. Less than 2 ypc, so I actually wish we would have opened it up a bit earlier.
The reason I've been lobbying against the deep balls all year is because 1) Three of Logan's picks have come on passes of 30 yards or more, 2) His completion percentage is terrible, especially downfield, so shorter high-percentage passes should mean more gains, and finally 3) Our wideouts simply don't have and haven't shown the ability to make plays with the ball in the air. We don't have any 6-5 athletes who can win jump balls, we've got possession guys who will make catches within 20 yards unless a fast guy like Knowles can beat his man downfield. So that's my reasoning behind avoiding the deep ball.
Logan was also treating him like wet laundry most of the game. He made some solid catches when you factor in that he left himself defenseless 3 feet in the air 4 or 5 times.
I'd give them a pass. They just had a tough loss. Their D played well. Their vaunted O didn't. As for us, we need to move on and get ready for the next game. They will have to do the same.
But, we'll all meet again in Blacksburg next year, right?
Butthurt because we've almost completed a decade of dominance against them too
Maybe true, Beamer has now said multiple times that these wins aren't pretty, but still wins.
Also nice to think we still have JC and Exum coming back.

I agree, our defense is probably the best in the nation...top 10 at worst, regardless of statistics. I think I'm going to start buying lottery tickets in the offseason with the sole purpose being to keep Bud in Blacksburg.
What are your thoughts on Motley at QB next year? Everyone seems to either be on the Leal train (most likely scenario IMO) or Bucky/Ford taking over.
The most frustrating thing about Logan is simply his lack of consistency. When he is good he looks like an NFL starter out there throwing frozen ropes. Every now and then, though, he makes a questionable read/throw...I can only imagine what life would have been like this year if we had Loeffler here earlier to develop him for a couple more years.
