RT against Western Carolina isn't the same as RT against a team with talent. They could probably get away with it in an emergency but if there were long-term injuries they would likely pull the shirt on Teller or Osterloh.
I don't remember anything about the article, but I will remember this comment forever. #LOLUVA
I kept thinking the same thing. This game did nothing for UVA other than show their recruits that they should be hoping for Oregon offers.
I can't even imagine what going to a game like this as a recruit feels like. I'm sure some of the commitments, like Brown, was upbeat and suggesting that he can help, but still. Front row seats to a massacre. Yikes.
Couldnt help myself
I watched a little bit of ECU the other night, and they were throwing it all over the place. They made some stupid mistakes, but other than that, I was somewhat impressed. It is definitely going to be interesting.
Surprised no one mentioned that Miami is #15 now... Big jump for beating UF.
I think we need to win the next 2 for the confidence of our team. If we go into ACC play 1-3, having lost to ECU and Marshall, I would be concerned that our guys will not have their minds right for conference play. Or maybe they'll come out like rabid honey badgers, I don't know. I think winning both of these next games is important for offensive cohesion and team confidence.
You're absolutely right. Some will say we need to win those games. But honestly they don't matter. We could lose and still win the ACC. I'd really like to see us take a significant step each week (and win, of course) and open up the playbook a little more each game. D looks good. O need consistency and to find their personality.
I think part of our problem is that we don't indoctrinate our new students with our traditions. I know a lot of people who went to Auburn and Alabama (having lived in Alabama), and part of their freshmen orientation includes sitting at the stadium, learning cheers, and seeing the coach and players. A&M does the Midnight Yell practice that is well advertised. Our kick-off picnic was a newer idea when I was a freshman in 2006, and I don't think it's enough to really get our new students excited about football. Though I agree that we're seeing a general shift in the passion of college football fans.
Look at it this way we have 2 more open practices before the season starts.
Miami knows how to score tho, and they have playmakers. Something we severely lack on O
Admittingly, I find it hilarious when they dress up like a founding father during games...that's the only compliment I'd ever give to a UVA fan

It's interesting how in the preseason the long ball was seen as Logan's strength and the short yardage passing needed work. The short yardage accuracy seems to be improving, but now he's over/under throwing the bombs. I don't know how much the receiver play into this but it will be interesting to watch as the season moves on.
My only point on that is that Demitri should have been playing DB on both of those. Logan did not put a good throw on it, underthrowing the first one significantly, but Knowles needs to recognize that and use his body and hands to make sure the other team does NOT have a chance to make a play. Just as much on Demitri as it was on Logan.
Are you Bill Walsh? But yes, Logan and this offense may be best suited for a WCO style offense. Although, Logan will need to improve on short touch passes.
I think it goes back to the argument, or rather statement that the polls are complete BS. Texas hasn't been good for years. Even when they went to the NCG a few years ago they weren't very good, but played a cushy schedule. Whoever votes in these things don't watch most of the games. They only look at the box score and record. Look how we were ranked at the beginning of last year. I'm sure most of us knew we weren't going to do great, but we beat GT and some cupcakes and were ranked. I guess the new playoff system will help a little but there will still be rankings.
And how USCw was ranked this preseason after losing to Paul Johnson and the Chop Block Band in a bowl is beyond me.
Really? What I saw yesterday was one team dominate the other, then puking on itself in the redzone. UF gave Miami that game. But, Stephen Morris made a few plays and the Miami D deserves some credit for getting the turnovers. Still not sold on Miami, yet.
What bugs me though is that even after getting blown out by BYU, Texas is still technically ranked ahead of us
As in the words of Colin Cowherd ragging on UVA: *very snobbish tone* "I'd rather be a sophisticate than win football games"
I was really hoping to see him go up against Steven Moss and Chancellor this Friday. I'm hoping he will still be out on the field, but I'll be checking updates on his status this week. Assuming he's cleared to play, I'll be at the game Friday to watch him play.
One of the bridesmaids in my wedding used to help out with the UVA football team back when she was a student. Even then, she could care less about UVA football. She loves UVA soccer, but not football.
We won't be ranked even after ECU and Marshall
The performance by Miami against Florida yesterday makes it seem even bleaker. They looked nasty out there.
Film review of it will be up as soon as I can get it completed.
and 15 more than uva

I have been going to almost every home game since I was 7, and I would know what a hot game is and what isn't, and that was not a hot game by any stretch. Try ECU 2008 in Charlotte or GT 2008. I had a friend throw up at the GT game from the heat. I am 15, almost 16, now, and I stayed until there were 5 minutes left in the game with my friend. My dad and sister left at halftime and went to the Underground and watched the game from there, so my friend and I were alone in the stadium (unsupervised, I must add) and watched the entire second half, aside from the last 5 minutes because my dad felt like we needed to make it out of Blacksburg so we would get back home at a reasonable time; we live in WV. I feel like if my friend and I are able to watch the entire second half when we certainly did not have to, so could the students. Just my opinion.
