Somebody who is on Twitter, please hit up JC and make sure he knows that the REAL Hokie Nation believes in him and the rest of the team. I may sign up for Twitter myself...

VT v Miami 2009 -
We were camping on the AT up near Grayson Highlands. It was pouring rain there also, and we decided to hike up to the summit of Mt Rogers in the rain just because.

On the way we passed by one of the AT shelters and some dudes had a Sony Walkman style radio with the game on. One guy was listening with headphones and giving the details, and the other two were slapping five hanging on his every word. We sat with them in the rain for the entire 4th qtr.

The crazy thing is you don't usually expect to find football nuts at a shelter on the AT in the rain; usually its just your basic AT Hippie nuts.

One of the best backpacking trips ever.

Thank you. I also saw this, and also found it revolting. Either he's in a distance ed class or his classmates (and professor) are some weak-ass bitches. If you don't stand by your team in situations like this, you shouldn't be allowed to revel in their victories. I can't stand fair-weather fans.

I think a few more people need to watch this video. This kind of crap makes me sick:

Maybe the odds are slim. Maybe we won't win. But dammit, when I was a student (not that long ago), it didn't matter who we played. Our students stood behind our players. We believed in our team. We believed we had a chance to win every game if we outplayed the opponent, outworked them. It's not ridiculous homerism to believe in your team. No one would rightly say that we're going to blow out Bama, that's just not real; no one blows out Bama. But believe that maybe, on any given Saturday, that scrappy team that no one gives a chance in hell might just surprise some people.

Hokie Nation is better than this. Believe. Win or lose, stand by your team.

Total fake: change the size and you can see the degradation in the quality of the pic -usually only happens when:

  • scanned image from a photo, etc or...
  • crap photoshop effort

I think this is the alternative road-uni, but I didn't know we're doing exhibitions in the UK...

    Wicked Googly

Was driving from VA to GA, so I didn't get to see 38-0. Listened to it on SiriusXM, so I guess that counts for something... but it's not the same as witnessing the Hoo tears in Lane Stadium North.

UNC shot themselves in the foot a lot. They are a very poor tackling team it looks like. They finally got momentum and them muffed a punt which I instantly knew was going to be the turning point. After opening the second half with a 17 play FG drive, the give up a 75 yard TD run on the first play and then can't take advantage of a tired defense. The offense showed flashes of brilliance but wasn't consistent. Renner looked like he had horrid arm strength on a lot of his throws as well.

My God it was painful to listen to the commentators suck clowney's gamecock the whole first half. The guy was essentially a non factor. He was gassed badly and they said he claimed to be in the best shape of his life. I know the UNC offense is built to tire a defense but it was the first half and he was already a spectator on a lot of plays. UNC was able to handle him with the left tackle alone mainly and added some chips from the running back in there. When he lined up over the RT they slid the protection to help the freshman.

Clowney is a very good player but damn it gets annoying of them praising this guy like he already knows every sack record in the NCAA and NFL

me too, lost power in staunton but my dad maybe 10 miles away had power throughout. i kept calling and annoying him for updates. i remember him saying the stands just looked like a huge party.

There's a trick to getting out of NCAA violations. Either play so poorly that vacating wins doesn't matter (See UNC and Miami) or win a Heisman (Johnny Hancock)

Two observations from last night:
1) UNC can't tackle runners.
2) UNC can't cover receivers.

As long as we don't give them yards and points on a platter like we did last season, it will work out for us.

Like a lot of the posters stated above, although the back looks a little bare now, it does leave some options for the future, so that's very good. I wouldn't mind seeing them put an orange border around the outside of the board, like they had on the rendering posted at the top. I think that could be an easy and possibly inexpensive addition that would add some pop.

Not sure if it was Renner with "happy feet." This one is on the UNC coaching staff. Early in the game, they were so afraid of Clowney that they used screens and bootlegs almost too often, rendering them ineffective. When UNC attacked down the field, South Carolina had some real challenges covering their big receivers. They really dominated the second half, but could not finish drives.

I am not sure what UNC's defensive staff was thinking. In the second half when it was clear that the Gamecocks were going to run the football, UNC often only had 3-5 guys in between the tackles on defense. The dive chewed them up. UNC has good speed, but quick hitting plays with power backs will really give them fits.
