just watched that replay...garbage call but i think if they could have reviewed it, it might have been overturned.

I mean, I fully believe that someone could come out and in <5 plays score on Bama and shellshock them. But they would get over that quickly. If you come out and just chip away at them, that gets frustrating. That beats them down. That gets under their skin.

Sam Rogers throws an interception to Kyle Fuller from behind the three point line and scores a wicket.

This was like my second ever VT game so I only know this.

The offesnive pass interference call rivals Danny Coale's catch....

I will take any and all points regardless of how they happen. IF you could guarantee that we actually had a choice and both drives would result in TD's...I would most certainly take the clock draining, defense demoralizing drive...then on the next drive, hit them with something big. Alabama believes so much in their "#1-overhyped-defense" that a long drive would probably hurt worse than a big play that they could blame on a fluke.

Can I ask why anyone would think Shane has potential, besides the fact that he is Frank's son?

You'll probably point to how he's coached in the SEC, but it's been as a hodge podge of jobs - graduate assistants, CB coach, recruiting coordinator, outside linebackers coach, special teams coordinator, and now, running backs coach.

Yes, he can recruit with the best of them, but his running backs rotation last year was a major cluster-F.

In my opinion, the best head coaches in college football today are guys who have the personality and charisma to recruit & engage with media / boosters / fans, but also are X's and O's junkies who have SUCCESSFULLY coordinated an offense or defense. Nick Saban (defensive coordinator), Chip Kelly (offense), Urban Meyer (offense), Les Miles (defense), etc. This list would go on and on.

There is a clear correlation between Top-25 coaches and extensive experience as a successful coordinator, and therefore I would expect, and hope, Virginia Tech to look for the next head coach accordingly.

Run the clock a bit and just drive it down their throats 3-5 yards at a time. That would send the biggest message to me because that's Alabama's game and you just beat them with it.

Here's a question for people though...would you rather see our team air it out and score fast or methodically drive down the field, 3-10 yards at a time and run the clock for the first drive?

Steve was my cousin's coach at OConnell. Sounded like a fantastic man. Thanks for passing this along.

If the game was played as 1 on 1's, he makes valid points. He seems to ignore Jack Tyler, Jarrett, and Bonner. He also underestimates our players and overestimates the new starters on their line. If this is the Bama perspective (which I can confirm it is after many conversations last weekend with Bama fans that I didn't even start), I look forward to this game even more.

Remember Boise St.? Tyrod had the open receiver, and overthrew him...but that would have been a guaranteed touchdown instead of a stalled drive and 17 unanswered. I think the same thing could work but I think bama is smart enough. My guess: Play action post or out route for 10-20 yards...nothing big but just something to get them in a rhythm.

I could also see something like an RG3 vs. Saints first drive...a lot of little passes here and there, pick up some good runs up the middle and/or wide just to get LT and the offense humming...nothing flashy, nothing special..just 4-5 yards per play and some first downs that hopefully lead to a field goal or TD.

Thanks. Appreciate the overview. We already have a DD set up so I'm sure that'll help us out a lot.

East Andrews -- Decent bar with tons of girls on a typical weekend. This bar is huge and has its own courtyard if you want to get away from the thumping music. Again, hot girls abound; but then again, so do a bunch of TapouT wearing shitheads.
Buckhead Saloon -- A place a little past its prime, but it still attracts a good bit of decent college-aged coeds. Worth a looksee since you'll be in the area.
Park Bench -- Meh. Packed with drunks, but like Buckhead Saloon, a little past its prime. I wouldn't waste my time
Churchill's Pub -- never been, but heard good things, but doubt it's gonna be your speed for a Friday night boozefest.
5 Paces -- Always packed. Decent dive bar.
Lost Dog Tavern -- Not a bad joint, but just a typical Buckhead bar.
Stout -- Stout is a nice place to go and get a meal/have drinks while watching an EPL game. I wouldn't waste my time on it, however.

I have to explain something about the Buckhead area to you. Ever since Ray Lewis was in some way involved in a murder, Buckhead has been on the quick descent. It is now populated by a few different kinds of groups including GT/GSU Greek Life (Hole in the Wall, Moondogs, East Andrews), Rappers (Tongue and Groove, Havana), and late-20's women on the prowl (East Andrews). All-in-all, I think the bar hop is worth the trip if it's your first time down here. And (it goes without saying), don't drink and drive! Cops here don't fuck around, especially in Buckhead.

If you wanted to forgo the entire bar crawl thing and try to go on your own, I'd recommend the Virginia Highlands neighborhood. There's too many bars to list all within a few blocks of each other located just outside of downtown. Generally Highlands bars don't have the party-party-party atmosphere of Buckhead bars, but you can get good booze and the scenery is incredible. I'd recommend starting at Hand-in-Hand and working your way to the center of Va and Highland if you should go this route.

Happy hunting, man.

Play action bootleg deep ball sideline toKnowles like Ga Tech last year. TOUCHDOWN TECH.

I would agree that their offense is better than us everywhere except on the line. But I think we are better, not even, on the line. And a consistent pass rush can make any secondary look elite.

I was really impressed with this segment and eager to watch it. I'm glad the coaches refrained from showing too much. I believe that has been their intent all spring and I think that's a stroke of genius. Ive been hopeful all spring and summer that more of the offense was installed than what we have seen and I am now certain thats the case. As a fan I always want to know more but not at the expense of the overall team. Saban is a great coach and Bama is a juggernaut but David beat Goliath and nothing is impossible. I hope that the segments of college football live where our Hokies have been disrespected all week and all spring are playing on the loop in the lounge and locker room. I want our team to come out fired up and ready to play. I expect us to have an opportunity to win the Bama game. We played them tough in 2009 and had a decent game plan. A couple plays here or there and that could have gone differently, but enough of the past! Beamer is due and so are the Hokie Faithful! Im ready for a big win on the national stage. Im ready for 3rd and Logan and a bone crushing defense! I cant wait for this season and that game to kick off! Go Hokies #beatbama!!!
