And to piggyback on this - a North Face isn't enough for the Drillfield in January. Need something wind-proof or your soul will freeze.
Wait until you're a senior to get a tattoo (not personal but we've all seen examples)
Don't sign up for 8 AM's if you're not already a morning person
Do every optional assignment for class. It'll get you in good with the prof and you'll have a better chance with O-Chem
You have access to prepaid gyms - USE IT!!!
not bad
its about as easy to get into ole miss as it is to get a fishing license

As a former West End dining services employee, please realize that if you come in to ANY dhall on campus during the daily lunch and dinner rush time periods YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT A WHILE FOR YOUR FOOD. Most students are understanding and know that you are working as fast as you can, but there are always the handful of entitled scum giving you dirty looks and snide remarks. Don't be rude.
And there it is. I thought the call in New Orleans was a good call (based on the rulebook). Hosely had an interception get called back and it looked exactly like Coales catch in the end zone, that's when I knew it was over for us. I hate it, but one of my biggest complaints is refs not calling the game consistently, and in that case they did.
That being said, I am happy to see the rule change because Danny caught that ball..just not according to the 2011 rulebook.
+1 for most beautiful co-eds in the country

Yup, yup, yup, yup, yup, and yup.
I saw that comment and all I could think was, "Pot, meet kettle."
My favorite:
The puzzling recruiting powerhouse known as Ole Miss finds a way to strike Charlottesville.
I wonder whats happened in Oxford the past two years to convince so many top recruits to go there.
Welp, for starters, they play in the SEC. They have more tradition than you do, promise of more television exposure, last year's #1 recruit and a top-10 recruiting class, have the consensus most beautiful coeds in the nation, and - oh yeah - they play in the SEC.
Dandydavenavarro needs to set 48 East Lawn straight.
And maybe the kid just didn't want to deal with Beamerball for the next four years. Who could blame him?
gym shorts and flip flops ARE acceptable to wear to class
although its August now, invest in a good winter jacket - you will be walking across the Drillfield in January
be just as loud at the Western Carolina game as you would be at the UNC game (this could start a whole new thread about football game rules)
learn where all the BT routes go and what time it stops running
go to basketball and baseball games!
the Math Emporium's not as confusing as it seems at first
take advantage of every opportunity for free food and free t-shirts (but don't sign up for credit cards just for free shirts)
I could probably come up with 50 more...
There's a time and a place for everything, and it's called college. Get out of your comfort zone and go meet people, get involved on campus (for me, it was InterVarsity and rugby), do things spur-of-the-moment. One of the best college memories I have is of a few friends and I in Macados deciding at 11pm to buy tickets to the '10 ACCCG, which was the next day, and heading to Charlotte. Also, manage your time well. "I have homework to do" should not be an excuse for not doing something 4 days a week, and you don't want to screw up your GPA so early in your college career.
1) Most important things are grades/making sure you have productive summers
2) Get a fake ID
3) Don't be the kid who blacks out/vomits the first week of school, wrong way to start off college
4) Meet as many girls as you can
5) Major in something you have a real passion for...$$$ will follow, don't worry about that part yet
6) Road trip at least once a semester. It's good to see what other schools have to offer
7) Don't quibble about money. Losing a few dollars here or there isn't going to be the end of the world.
8) Tell your parents to give you the smallest meal plan but then give you extra money to add on later (it'll be cheaper than getting whatever the biggest meal plan is)
9) Don't be a douchebag. Everyone you meet are exactly in the same point in life as you, you are not better or worse than everyone else.
10) Consider studying abroad (biggest regret from college)...but do it in the spring so you don't miss a football season
Yeah whatever happened to Phreak. For a while I thought he changed his name to BillDozer or mstrawther. Is Phreak on this site at all?
Dude certainly looks the part. He's gonna be an absolute monster after a year or two of Gentryfication.
Nope. And that was how I got through the summer a couple years ago. Last year I went to find VTPhreak's videos to get my fix again, and they were gone. :'(
Women's rugby, maybe. Of course, on the men's side VT dominated this past year 57-12 in Charlottesville. It was a good day. We also beat them earlier in the year in the finals of the ACRL 7's tournament to qualify for the Collegiate Rugby Championship in Philly. So yes, VT's dominance of the commonwealth does in fact extend past football.
"Hey French! First time listener, longtime caller. I was just wondering when you think Marshall's coming back? Alright, I'm gonna hang up and listen."
I was halfway considering making the trip up there, because seriously, how often are you going to get the chance to see Oregon play. But, I live in Blacksburg, and I have family coming to town for the WCU game that day.
"What's that make us?"
"ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!"
Interestingly enough, those are also horse apples.
Damn, the original 130 in 130 doesn't exist anymore?
Fitness, conditioning, strength training are all vital. Without the body the mind suffers, techniques suffer, performance suffers.
Encourage learning, practice, and self motivation. You can't be there 24/7 so kids need to do some things on their own. Give them homework.

Honestly it's a big downside of going to "research" and "engineering-focused" school like VT. Don't get me wrong, Tech has their fair share of co-eds, but the 60/40 ratio definitely has drawbacks.
