LIES! Ruled a touchdown on the field, video evidence at the time was inconclusive at best, shouldn't have been overturned.
My dad's friend coined the term "Turkey drop" with regard to #8. Any preexisting high school relationship will end by Thanksgiving when one or both go to college. It has a 100% success rate from what I have observed. Also, a buddy of mine said that having a significant other when you go to college is like walking past the greatest buffet in the world to go to the same crappy Chinese place down the street every day.
#13 could not be more true. That's why I'm doing a victory lap and doing grad school at Tech for a bonus 3 years.
Yah, just to be clear. I have absolutely nothing against cut blocks. I am talking about illegal chop blocks. The targeting of knees kind of block that can result in career ending injury.
this is why Chop Block Gate happened in 2009:

It's illegal for a very good reason. Johnson doesn't care. In fact he coaches kids on how to get away with it. I stand by my hatred of him and that he should not be labelled a genius because of it.
Some great tips on here already for sure. Here's my 2 cents -
1. Make an effort to introduce yourself face to face with ALL of your professors in every class. It makes a difference.
2. Spend at least 45 min every day after class on each class that you had that day, whether you have an assignment or not...go over notes, etc.
3. I really like Stiney's #9 above. Really...don't be a douchebag. When meeting people, listen to what they have to say. Especially the womenz. They love to talk, and if you let them, you're in there.
4. Alcohol is going to happen. Period. But really...know your limits. Don't get shit-faced and act like a fool.
5. No matter where you are, or what you're doing...always look good. Personal hygiene is a must.
6. Go on a diet and lose 15 lbs...like, now. That way, the 15 lbs that you are going to gain by Christmas break is a wash.
7. Lot's of outdoor opportunities in the New River Valley. Take advantage of them - hiking, biking, skiing, camping.
8. Unless it's Romeo and Juliet style, star-crossed true love...cut the high school girlfriend/boyfriend loose. Too complicated. If it's real, it'll happen again.
9. Practice your Pong and Quarters game. It'll help with #4.
10. Pay attention to the above comments on the weather. Not a ton of snow in Bburg, But there are a lot of days when its 33 F, wind blowing at 50 mph, and raining. That shit hurts. You need some gear.
11. Bring a bike, but not the $3500 Cannondale. Just something to get you around, and lock it up.
12. Eat at Mike's every chance you get.
13. Lastly...savor every moment. In four years you'll have a bunch of stuff to worry about and take care of. This is your last shot to be truly care-free. (Relatively speaking, of course.)
former Owens cook agrees as well!
Your post inspired me to post these words from Rhino. I don't know that truer words have ever been spoken.
I guess I realize that it's just a game that I love to watch.
Learn how to stalk HokieSpa so you don't have 8 am classes.
There are "free time" codes that you can put in course request that will block out 8 am classes (or any time classes for that matter) so if you have a freshman class that has 2 offerings (8 and 9:15 or whatever) you'll get put into the 9:15 one. The universal one that blocks you off from 8am-8:50am is CRN 90001.

Also, use Koofers.com like it's your job. Much better way to get a feel for your teachers than ratemyteachers or ratemyprofessors or whatever and you can look at old study guides, homework and, if you're lucky, old tests.
I will never move on. I will go to my grave swearing it was a catch. If you can't get irrationally worked up over something, then what is the point?
Charley Meyer is open! Nah, doesn't have the same ring to it. Do you think Charley would be willing to change his name to Danny Coale?
Damnit. I hadn't looked. Oh well.
I believe the difference is that if the ground causes movement. Either way the whole dwelling on it is half my point...the refs called a consistent game regardless of the viewpoint on the catch. The game was a year and half, almost two years ago...let's move on.
THIS.
As a 220-pound guard in high school, I made a living off of pulling around and blocking linebackers on power, and cutting the shit out of DTs whenever I had a man over my head. High-low blocks are dangerous and illegal, cut blocks are legal and as dangerous as any other football play. They're part of the game, and any good defensive line coach is going to teach his guys how to beat them. I can't find the link, but I remember Wiles talking about this when asked about the progression of the backup DTs.
Cut blocking goes bad when you try to cut a smart, superior athlete on every play. If I had the film of a DT just jumping over me in a state playoff game, I'd post it for everyone to see what I was talking about, and get a laugh.
I had a similar '11 ACCCG. But instead of the day before, we decided at noon the day of the game. Went on StubHub, found 5 tickets in the Clemson section (it was miserable) and drove to Charlotte. Had just enough time to get some dinner and drink a few beers.
1) If you don't have a Flex plan, you're doing it wrong. Get a Flex plan and eat everywhere, whenever. Your friends will appreciate you not using up their plan when you go to Hokie Grill with no way to eat.
2) If you have a day full of classes beginning at 8 AM, be prepared in October to experience 25-degree temps when you go to class and 75-degree temps when you come back. We call it "Blacksburg weather" and keep it moving.
3) If you live on campus, don't ride the bus to class.
4) If you have your car, pay attention to where you can park and when. Those Parking Services workers hide in bushes waiting for the MOMENT your car is parked in a "F/S 24 Hours" lot.
Do your homework. In high school it's easy to get by with doing homework the hour before class (if you choose to do it at all), in college you can't. And don't try doing your homework in your room, it's not going to happen. Find a quiet area, don't tell your friends you're there and hammer it out. If I have homework on weekends I will stay in on Friday to do it just so I can watch football all weekend. Plan ahead for things like that.
but hasnt that always been the rule? the ball can move if the receiver maintains control? i'm gonna get all worked up about this again if i keep dwelling on it.
That rule should be: the white guy is always open.
And get to know your RA as quick as possible. Get a feel for how strict he/she is. And rounds on the weekends are generally at 10, 12 and 2.
he's an old tsler
vt/wcu 1:30
oregon/loluva 3:30
Closet doors make decent pong tables when in a pinch.
I live in C'ville. If WCU weren't our home opener, I'd bag it and not think twice. As is, I'm holding out home that maybe we play at 12 and the Hoos kick off at 8 or something like that; if that happens, I'll be running out the Lane gates at 0:00 to get back home and watch Oregon run train on UVa.

Sums up my views perfectly. That's what makes a team sport great, not the overall dominance of a season, but their grueling path to get there. Hence great sports movies being journeys and the trials that lead to a championship, not just rollovers upon rollovers.
