I played football with him on the drillfield once! He takes his pick up tackle football almost as seriously as the actual game.
Its not that Facyson doesn't care about the team, he just really wants to succeed
Gotta love a plane that was designed around its gun.
That war machine right there has certainly got us Infantry types out of a jam or two! I mean it's a giant gun and they built a plane around it! Suck it enemies of the U.S.!
I read his article not too long before I read 01_Hokie's post about "A Champions Mentality" on TKP. I kept thinking how different Rogers is to Facyson. Seems one is all about the team doing well and not getting individual accolades, while Facyson is on the other end of the spectrum. I'd choose Rogers mentality any day. You have to love that this kid walked on here, and will sacrifice for the team. I'm sure he will be on scholarship before he graduates. Reminds me of Engelberger.
The Chicken is Committed. Just ask David Wilson what he eats for breakfast on Sundays.

She may not be fast (too much armor) or sexy (much prettier planes out there), but I'd love to have her by my side no matter what the situation. There is a reason why they took the A10 our of decommission. Gotta love a plane that has nicknames like Warthog and tank killer.

Love me some A10s.
and accurate
Yep, that's simpler.
+1000 Sam Octoberfest is the tits.
Yes I would expect us to watch a very boring first half where Bama does exactly this to wear us down. Then in the second half, those 5 yard gains will turn into 15 or 20+ yard gains with the very talented TJ Yeldon.
There was something about being on the field for the national anthem between the crowd roaring for flyovers and the sound of the skipper (Kilo formation is right next to it) just sends goosebumps everywhere.
Army/Navy game in 2008 in Philly was pretty cool too because it was a dual flyover for both services.

SBeams and Moorehead will both be on the field. No doubt. Question mark will be Stiney. I could see SBeams up there if only to learn what he should be doing as a future OC. Otherwise he lives for the field.
Loeffler - booth
Grimes - field
Stinespring - ?
S. Beamer - ?
Moorehead - ?
I miss the Hokie Spartan.

I agree. The past we have had too much level headed modesty that Frank gives our team. Yes that's nice when you are speaking with them, that they aren't cocky a-holes, but on the field that is exactly what we need.
I've always heard that chickens are involved, but pigs are committed.
Formal 3rd president....
Turkey leg.
I know the Nebraska fan base is getting a lot of love on here, but I had a bizarre interaction when we played them. Some fan was sitting in north end zone and we basically talked back and forth the whole game about how shitty our teams looked (remember how ugly this game was). Well, after the insanity at the end I started rounding up my friends to rush the field. This dude grabs me by the back of my shirt and goes "if you rush the field, I'm kicking your ass" (I guess because we were ranked slightly better??). He didn't end up doing anything, but it was kind of weird how hostile he got.
And say what you want about FSU, but nothing pissed me off more than Clemson's chant. Especially since they chanted it so much en route to crushing us in the 2011 ACCCG.
That's the soul of VT football.

Understand what you're saying but I read Facyson's comments more in regards to him challenging himself. David Wilson made a list of impossible goals every year and lots of those had to do with personal accolades. I don't think Facyson is saying he is not team first but that he has a desire to be the best at what he's doing and he measures that by 1rst Team recognition, etc. That being said I agree that Sam Rogers is different. He is 100% team first and will enjoy what comes his way as an afterthought. Most walk-on's turned starters have the very same attitude and that is probably a big reason why they succeed.
