I actually feel very confident about our skill positions. Between DJ/Demitri/Josh and Trey/JC I think we're fine there. What really worries me, is the offensive line. It seems like they haven't been able to create holes all Spring or August

plus, it would allow for VT domination of all directional Carolina schools as we already have Western, East and North on the list

I laughed, but got OP's point too.

As simple as it sounds, eliminating mistakes and converting third downs will keep us in a close game with Alabama. In 2012 the Tide was 16th in 3rd down conversions (47.90%), 22nd in 4th down conversions (63.64%), and 11th in time of possession (32:16). We need to drive the ball and eat the clock. A string of three-and-outs will almost certainly guarantee a loss. Tech will have to get lucky too. Alabama was T-13th in turnover margin last season (1.00). They don't usually mistakes which will reduce our chances to possess the ball, and therefore score points. Remember how stingy their defense is too (1st scoring, 4th red zone). We will have to make the most of opportunities, and actually make the big plays we've watched slip through our fingers so many times in the past.

And yes, that entire paragraph could be applied to any team/game as a blueprint for success. However, when playing Alabama, the margin for error approaches zero.

Also, as long as it's in good taste, and you can take what you dish, making fun of our own is fair game.

I'd love to see Jadeveon Clowney. Andrew Miller needs to start the Beard DeChristopher just in case.

That's hilarious. ESPN makes people pay for old content that is available elsewhere for free. Their recruiting information is terrible, too.

Hokies vs Cocks? Must have missed the original post but this would be the ultimate showdown for weird bird mascots to have at it

Just a joke, didnt mean to ruffle Hokie feathers. We can be pretty brutal to our own but its meant in good fun.

Also, my first downvote!

I usually encounter rude fans after getting squashed or right before the game. they are mostly young (students or recent alum). I think the best I have dealt with are Michigan, Marshall, Nebraska.

I am surprised they haven't gotten more recognition but I have had awful experiences with ECU fans. When VT lost in 2008, I got pelted by cups, beer, and other items while being cussed out. On top of that, when I was young, I went to an ECU game (at ECU) and got cussed at the entire time..I was literally 10 years old. I don't have a lot of respect for fans who go after kids. That being said I DO have a lot of respect for ECU and all they have done for us in regards to 4.16.

Also UVA is notoriously bad, WVU obviously. I have had a few bad encounters with Duke fans. I had one UNC student cuss me out while wearing a bow tie and button up to the game.

I don't think students give a fair account of respect. Every time the Hokie Respect board was shown, they would be swearing at the hispanic UM fan, booing UVA and other things...I mean a commercial about having the best fans and the students are acting completely contrary.

The fans that are not in the east and north are usually very pleasant with exception to a few.

I will not be as critical as some here. Suffice to say, you may want to space out some of your thoughts into a paragraph format and reread what you write a few times before posting. Those who live to comment also love to point out faults in writing. You have passion, but your execution may need a little improvement.

p.s. Not sure what you meant to type in the last sentence here but LOL auto-correct.

So basically....play good football. Alabama is disciplined enough that they won't (usually) beat themselves. It is up to us to out play them, and that's that. We can analyze all day long, but in the end, it comes down to being better in all facets of the game. period.

> I'm not denying it my pussy that scoring touchdowns weren't important or necessary

Phrasing?

EDIT:
Haha, I'm glad someone else was just as confused, vtaero.

I used to play tackle with friends the night before every game. My future roommate gave me a concussion once...but it pretty much set me up with a girl I ended up dating for 3 1/2 years. Craziest unintentional wingman situation ever.

But I'm not denying it my pussy that scoring touchdowns weren't important or necessary to win games

umm...

Be nice guys. I will say, though, there is almost no point in watching game film. If we win, it's going to be because we hit a few homeruns and the defense plays their ass off. If Bama scores more than 20, we don't have a chance.

his stat line from the year he 'played in [sic] games' looks terrifying.

terrifying to uva fans perhaps

edit: stupid formatting - doesnt seem to like multiple spaces or tabs

I had a few people tell me that when they went to the Maryland game in 2009 (when we curb stomped them in the pro-combat unis), they heard 4-16 "jokes" from multiple people. Seriously, in what universe is it even remotely ok to joke about that?
