Easy killer. I think calling Hand a dick is a bit unwarranted and besides, a hand can't be a dick.
Did they buy that at the Sports Authority...or Kohl's? I mean, it looks like it belongs in some kid's bedroom.
What, instead of our game against Western Carolina?
(Actually, if I didn't live in Blacksburg I might actually consider going to Charlottesville to see that one...)
I absolutely think it will be one of the reasons they keep him. Hoos would say he's still righting the ship, Groh left them with no talent and London's had to replenish it, plus London continues to bring in higher quality talent, etc. Also, keeping him because he has some recruits coming in this year doesn't mean they have to keep him for 3 more. Once you get those guys into the program, there's a decent chance they are close to starting and getting significant playing time and won't want to sit a year by transferring. That being said, I think the AD would say the schedule was incredibly tough this year and, short of a complete collapse (less than 4 wins), can still claim program building. Next year is when I think the grace period wears off and London will have to make a bowl game or be shown door.
I'm more surprised Petrino didn't get more votes. I guess everyone forgot about the Falcons thing. That with what happened at Arkansas makes him a coach I would want no part of.
i think a lot of people are naive to the ped thing. there's no standards to it, if they dont test for it or there's no repercussions why wouldnt you? as far as vt goes, every time i hear about a kid putting on 30 pounds of muscle in a year i question it. is that possible naturally?
any coach who would tell his team through text that he's leaving is a tool. i'm sure he preaches accountability to his players at asu. putting the "god bless" at the end of the text is even more annoying. keep your blessings to yourself coach.
There is no L is Soviet. But this is about UVa, so it's OK.
They're used to having an extra L or 2.
Sure is a lot of vitriol for a 20 year old kid over here. Anyone here read the Wright Thompson piece? Can't even begin to tell you how immature and emotionally reactive I was at 19, and that was without ESPN doggedly shaping an unflattering narrative for views. "The kid is rich"? Ok, probably still hates asking mom and dad for money. Not really a good reason to vilify him. Probably wants to be a bit more of a man than he's ready for. Did something dumb (allegedly). Any of you have any idea how much stuff like that goes on at LITERALLY every school?
Difference is, this kid's high profile, and getting after him for it benefits the NCAA for face-saving purposes, and every media outlet because people love a scandal, and scandals bring viewers.
Let's also remember that a "broker" tattling on his cash cows won't have too much of a future in the autograph selling business. Who knows this guy's motives for saying what he said?
Lastly, the NCAA is garbage. I don't see why a kid can't make a few bucks off his hard work and name. You know that whole "We're there for athletes after sports" ads they played during the NCAA tournament? Yeah...bullshit. I say gang up on the institution that creates rules that are ridiculous and nearly impossible to truly follow, instead of a kid with too much thrown at him acting like a kid with too much thrown at him.
As much as I hate UVA, and want them to lose, I'd rather have our game decide the Coastal Division. Having the opportunity to snub them getting into the ACCCG would be more fulfilling than beating the usual 3-8 team. But I will still cheer against them. But every other ACC team against a non conference game I'd cheer for them. #goacc
This is awesome:
MWC player on dating Coach's daughter
"Our coaches dictate our whole lives, decide who's playing and who's not, bench you because they didn't like your attitude during a practice ... You name it, they have total authority. I would love to turn the tables and roll past my coach's house one day on a date, with his daughter in the front seat."
Yea, but they don't exactly recruit the best kids. They became good by taking the kids in California that had off-field problems so the California schools didn't want them. Not saying he isn't a great coach, but there was some talent they were getting from the coast.
He's done the most with the least talent. He turned a borderline commuter school into one of the NCAA's winningest programs in the past decade.
Also, he's turned down offers from other schools has really pledged his allegiance to BSU unlike Kiffin, Mack Brown, Brian Kelley, etc, who left the kids they recruited so they could coach at a historical program.
He's 42-2 all time with Boise. He built a national power almost by himself.
The way the question is worded is interesting, that one player on a team is using. But what about teams where it is widespread? That was always the rumor about Boise, but just look at the players this year. Human bodies aren't meant to look like that or do that.
Even on your own team. There are probably 4-6 current VT players who I would have strong suspicions about, but PED use has proven over the years that it is often the marginal player taking just to stay on the team....guys you wouldn't even think about. The 3rd string LB'er, the ST'er.
It's also worth noting the rumors about how lax college football testing of any kind really is. Remember, it was Matthieu who said he failed so many marijuana tests at LSU that he lost count. Nobody knows the schools' policy. Is it failing one test? Five? Are PED's and recreational drugs in the same category? There is no transparency at all, probably for a reason.
How is Chris Petersen on that list, when he hasn't even appeared in a national title game?
This thread makes me think we need to revive this:

I really hope UVA wins 5 of their first 7. After losses to BYU and Oregon, they can beat VMI, Pitt, Ball State, MD, and Duke. I say this because I want them to spend the last 5 games trying to become bowl eligible.
Following the Duke victory, 5 straight losses to GT, Clemson, NC, Canes and VT. 38-0 bro was sweet because UVA thought they were going to win coastal. Decade of Dominance will be that much sweeter sending UVA into 2014 with 5 straight losses after their 5 straight wins.
Just sayin.
Pretty cool article. I found it interesting that Graham is thought of as worse than Kiffin. I find that shocking. Kiffin is the bottom of the barrel.
38-0 bro
He will absolutely be in the rotation on the DL this season!
Well yeah, they never said whose victory it'd be.
I wish they gave numbers on how many from each conference they interviewed because I have a feeling there is a large separation between the number of violations in the SEC compared to the MAC.
The PED % was surprising to me...I guess I'm a little naive

Hand isn't being a dick. We don't offer his major simple as that. Foster was always his favorite coach but not offering his major did us in. Wish him luck wherever he ends up
