A quote that stuck out for me

"Manning, who was about 150 pounds when he first reported to Blacksburg in the winter of 2012, said he thought he needed to add extra size to "be able to compete with those SEC guys," noting the Alabama opener."

Beamer was right about one thing- even if we don't beat Alabama, it was a great idea to have them on our schedule. Our guys are hyper-focused over the summer because of that game and that will translate into better play throughout the entire year.

Andy Bitter provided a link to this forum in his latest blog post. I am a rock star!

4 years is a long time from now. For all we know, both Bud and Gray move on to big-time jobs. However, London will never step foot on VT campus as an employee of the university. His only recruiting skill is having connections in the 757. So, when's he's fired from UVA, why would you hire him? UVA's connection is gone, VT can make inroads. The only fear would be London coaching at ODU (I would not be surprised if this happened), but hopefully that doesn't translate to snagging the 757 5-stars from VT. Would 5-stars go to ODU in 4 years? Probably not.

I'm #goacc because I want the ACC to be taken seriously in something other than basketball once again. Primarily it's more of a cheering against the ACC opponent than for another ACC team during the regular season. I can never, ever pull for Miami, but it'd be pretty sweet to see Florida go down in flames to them. That kind of logic. During Bowl Season I will take more of a rooting interest in the ACC team.

There are specific rules for certain teams however.

1. UVA losing is always funny and should be actively encouraged.

2. Fuck UNC. They have a long history of douchebaggery. Their stadium is awful. They deserve to get ban hammered by the NCAA purely because of those seat backs and hey, about that, wheres the ban hammer anyway NCAA? I still want to see them beat USCe because that's better for the ACC, and it would be mildly amusing since I live in Columbia, but I also have a lot of good friends that are Gamecock fans. Mostly I just want the Battle-for-being-called-Carolina to get here already because, wooo grown man football.

3. Fuck Notre Dame, not just half the time, but all the time. Then. Now. Always.

4. I actually have no ill will towards Clemson at all, I've got a lot of fond memories of kicking their assess from the 90s up through 2007 and all of my interactions with Clemson fans have been really great, both home and away. I do however absolutely enjoy when they pull a Clemson, because it's just so them. I just hope its to another ACC team most of the time. But god damn, that Orange Bowl was hilarious. The goal line fumble recovered for a 100 yard touch down going the other way may be the most Clemson thing ever.

4. I could work up to a really strong hate of Pitt again if I had to, but until then, #goacc

5. Fuck Notre Dame some more, just in case that wasn't clear.

6. I want to see UMD thrown into the well and will really enjoy their tour-of-shame through the ACC this year. Burn turtle, burn.

I'm up in LA/Orange County along with my sister who's a Hokie alum as well... we're always down to make a good trip. Really awesome to know. Where is Bub's, closer to PB or downtown?

I agree with the majority here. Bud to HC, Gray to DC. Although if we could bring in London in a role similar to Stiney, I would be cool with that. His recruiting ability is undeniable, and maybe if he's only in charge of one position group instead of a huge role like HC or Coordinator, he could be ok. (Not sure what position group he would be best at though. Not familiar with his actual background in terms of coaching.) But I guess this would be impossible if some other program offered him a Coordinator job.

Don't take this the wrong way but... how did you survive Tech? Mad props, turkey leg for you!

Actually his major was engineering early on. Then he switched. I'm not saying he couldn't handle it - but engineering is hard, especially when you're putting in a ton of time on the field. His top priority is football, not studies, and sports marketing is probably a little easier.

And what did Andrew Brown do?

If I think about it as an opposing coach and not a VT fan, I'm telling my punter to kick it to the side of the field with "not Jarett," even if he is 10 yards closer to avoid Jarett having a big return.
