Depends on the team - I really have no strong feelings towards Clemson either way, so sure, win away.

I guess if I did a breakdown,it'd be like this:
Coastal:
VT - Win them all (obviously)
Duke - sure, why not win? I'll root for you, just because you guys lose so often I feel bad sometimes...
UVA - I want them to lose every game ever. I want Cavman to fall off his horse every time he rides onto that field. I want every recruit in the country to know we are a better choice than them
GT - I hate Paul Johnson, and want him fired, so lose. If he moved on, I think I'd want them to win. If they play an SEC team, I think my dislike for the SEC will overcome my dislike for Paul Johnson.
Miami - I want them to either be winless, or undefeated when we play them (just so we can send them back to earth in flames and get credit for beating a wildly overrated opponent). So, win, I guess. But it's a complicated relationship for me.
UNC - meh. Win I guess, if only for our SOS
Pitt - no real opinion here. I'll probably develop one over the next few years, but right now I'd pull for them over some random Big 12 team or something...

Atlantic:
NCSt - Sure, I'd root for them. I've got a bunch of Wolfpack friends where I work, and have no hard feelings towards them.
BC - it'd be nice to see our doormat beat someone, so sure. #goacc. I guess their chronic ineptitude has gotten me over the whole Matt Ryan debacle (well that, and kicking the tar out of him in the ACC title)
Clemson - I don't really have any hard feelings towards Clemson. Sure, they beat us, but they got their asses handed to them in the bowl game, so whatever. #goacc
FSU - FSU usually gets the other major contenders, so I root for them in OOC because I know they will slip up somewhere in conference/will have to get through us in the title game to go to a championship. It's not an enthusiastic support, but I root for them none-the-less. #goacc
Syracuse - see Pitt
UMD - suck on it and die, terps. Have been actively anti-UMD after the way they ran out the Fridge and hired Edsall. leaving the conference hasn't helped either.
WF - No reason not to root for them. #goacc

so yeah, I'm pro-ACC with a few exceptions.

My house! ... except I'll be in Hotlanta.

As mentioned above, Wild Wing Cafe is a solid option. It's the closest thing to a sports bar this town has. I would not bother going to BW3, I find it be on the stabby side at times.

I would also look at hitting Citizen Burger Bar. Food is a little bit more expensive than Wild Wing Cafe, but it's got a decent atmosphere and beer list.

How long will you be in town?

No, just cheer for your own team. The whole SEC SEC SEC thing annoys the hell out of me. The fact that Tennessee fans take pride in Alabama winning championships is just weird. That said, I suppose if an ACC team is beating an SEC team I would be cheering for them #goacc

No doubt. We are all itching like crazy for some Hokie Football. Just trying to remind myself to stay positive and open minded this season. Trying to limit my expectations of offense to just seeing effort, sense of urgency and steady progress. The rest will come and develop. Now for the Defense, Im expecting chaos and snot bubbles for the opposition.

But make no mistake about it, Loeffler has a lot to prove. This is/was the crossroads of his career, in two years he will either be a OC at an SEC school (or QB Coach in the NFL) or he'll be a QB Coach in the MAC (if that still exists).

I know you've said your peace (or piece), but just wanted to say. If Loeffler is truly that good, then he would have taken VT to new offensive heights. If this is true, I would imagine VT would become a perennial top 15 team (I assume Bud is still DC.) So, If he Loeffler is this good, then I think a move to an OC at an SEC school would be rather lateral, but $EC pockets do run deeper. Anyways, I'm just saying, if he becomes that elite college OC during his VT tenure, I think the next logical step would be HC or NFL.

Agree that the statement on Shane was inaccurate.

Agree to disagree on the rest.

Can it please be Aug. 31st now??????

This thread is really starting to sound too much like a TSL thread. Lets not jump to any conclusions on any of these coaches. They ALL have great resumes and look like they belong here. Let them do their job. Things didnt get broke overnight and they wont be fixed overnight.

A giant evil Hokiebird eye?

The whole offense was a dumpster fire last year. Sure, Shane should have got more out of his group but it was likely on the talent more than anything (and I rarely blame the talent, coaches coach for a reason). I think Hite is a superior coach and I think both Beamers agree. When there was no production last year, I don't think there was much we could do. Hite was there to give his opinion, Shane was working them day to day, Frank was involved. The guys didn't have any holes and, frankly, failed to perform when they did have opportunities.

I think Loeffler is a completely adequate OC and QB Coach hire....with the potential to be much more. He's got ceiling. But the original post was about how Shane was out of his league and needed to step up. I disagree. He's no Jeff Grimes, but Shane is highly regarded ....... even outside of the VT coaching office.

I'll let this issue go, I've said my peace (piece? what is the etymology of that phrase?)

I can't imagine who would want to go to school in Maine, especially during the winter. That being said, the new dining facility seems to be something else (though I haven't been inside).

Anyways, even my many cavalier relatives will concede that our school spirit is impressive.

Our Front-7 definitely needs to keep the pressure on Bama's stout rushing attack, and terrify McCarron early and often.

I guess I don't see how Shane has earned his spot where Loeffler hasn't? I'm not pinning last season on Shane as I think your point is valid, however, you can't say that Shane and Hite coach the same, so is it beyond the realm of possibility that the RBs would have been coached different and maybe been a bit better last year? Personally, I think the improvement would have been marginal given how shitty the OL was, but I don't think Shane is completely without fault either.

Personally I think all of our coaches not named Foster, Gray, or Wiles have a lot to prove. Moorehead may be an up and comer but he has no track record to speak of. At the end of the day I expect that all of these guys will come thru because they all seem to have a chip on their shoulders.

I do agree that calling Shane out is rather short sided.
