Sorry fellow Hokie beer connoisseurs, I smash Bud Light on the reg followed by shots of Wild Turkzilla (aka HokieFuel) when we score TDs!

Depends on the need at the time. As many have said, you want to get play makers on the field at all times. In the past few years, WR has only been owned by one or two names at most with little depth. But at RB, you had Holmes, Gegory, JC Coleman, Chris Mangus, Trey Edmunds (who was recruited as a linebacker) and and we were hoping that Drew Harris would be coming in. I guess I also forgot scales. In any case, it was a loaded position. Funny how things change in just a year.

I'm generally pro-ACC, except for LOLUVA, Miami, and Duke in basketball.

This makes me incredibly conflicted about Clemson-Georgia. I would love for the ACC to do some things on opening weekend, but last I checked, Dabo is still a boob, and I have a bit of a soft spot for UGA.

Caleb is a tough, tough runner. I'm excited to see what this change translates into! He reminds me of a guy I played against in HS; Jerton Evans at Jefferson Forest. That cat ended up playing at LOLUVA. He was slippery and quick footed. Even when u squared him up, he was a load to tackle. Thanks for this post Joe, I really think this is a solid move on VT's part!

Guys, I think we are getting ahead of ourselves. Shane has admitted that he messed up the tailback rotation last season (I think it's on one of Bitter's blog posts) and he is learning. Shane has only coached one season as a running back (Mississippi State back in the day) before being assigned to defensive coaching jobs since then. So, Shane is basically relearning how to coach running backs again. With all-world player in David Wilson, it was easy to insert him in the lineup, and say, "Do yo thang." Heck, Shane said his job was basically to make sure Wilson gets up on time and on the bus (basically babysitting him from the sound of it), but when last season rolled around, Shane said that he was going to have to earn his paycheck.

I'm sure he wished he had made some better decisions, but often he has to put Holmes in because the package was called, or he put in Scales to get the tough yard needed. My point, we don't always know the reason for the head scratching inconsistency in tailback rotations.

Now, with Grimes pulling double-duty as run game coordinator, I'm sure he is gonna help the run game a bit, but his focus should be on the line because, as he famously said, they are the tip of the spear.

I really, really am excited about the prospect of how well the offense will do this fall. There's gonna be growing pains, some dumb mistakes gonna be made, but bottom line, the offense should be far better than under O'Confucainspring shuffling the deck that made no sense except to themselves.

I am all for it. If he's that highly touted, and some have harkened him as Percy Harvin-type (similar to the noise about David Wilson should have been used in that role as well), then why the hell not?

Question to tickle everyone's fancy, would this move have been made under Confucainspring? I say no.

Good offensive coaches are always looking to get their playmakers on the field. This causes mismatches or even potential mismatches that defences must account for. I'm glad to see the coaches identifying players that they want on the field and figuring out how to do it, even if it is a position switch. I always saw a lot of this on defence too; good to see them creating mismatches on offense.

That apple pie shine is mighty smooth and tasty! Never had it before a game though...hmm...

Just went to the Breckenridge Brewery site and used their beer locator.....looks like I'll have to make a run (nearest location is about 45 minutes away) and give it a try........

Wish I had moved earlier so I could have a homebrew, but after leaving the land of no Yuengling (sp?) I am on a steady supply of that and maybe some Breck Brewery Agave Wheet for good measure!

If you're looking for a Hef, check out the Breckenridge Brewery Agave Wheet... it'll change your life!

Given that he was listed as a 3rd string WR and has since moved to tailback (behind the existing guys), probably minimal. It sucks to not have a playmaker available, but it is what it is, and there were others ahead of him at either position.

This is turning into an interesting development.

I root for ACC. With strength of schedule and perception now, I want everyone to do as well as they can. Plus, since we play most of them, I want them to have winning records.

The ACC needs to win big the first weekend. I'm tired of being called the new Big East now that they are gone, and being bottom of the barrel. Everyone winning is the only way to change that perception.

I do hate Miami though...

I can make something like that happen, though it would be in DC. I have a large cellaring collection (although it recently took a hit).
