honestly im just looking forward to seeing this thing together and blasting sandman. thats one thing about lane that has been lacking the sound system has been awful and outdated for a while now.
plan on doing that next year, i wasnt able to get off work for it this year
you could also do the 3.2 for 32, they always run through the tunnel...
man i just watched the macho harris hl last night. i hope our secondary plays like ball hawks and playmakers. we have been hurting in defensive td's as of late

# | Jack Tyler on Offseason Changes and Other Things: interview by Aaron McFarling Imo I think Bama is a stepping stone. They have to prepare like this to get a SHOT at beating Bama and if they dont they have to work even harder to make sure it doesnt happen again. Its the "want-to" and I can understand a glimpse of it just from personal experience. Now I do not think I am anywhere near on the level as these guys but I can understand the mindset of it.
It will take the captains being mentally strong and the coaches to keep it together. You have to always want more and want to play better. The players need to get commended for their accolades but have the desire to learn and be better. Think I just had a flashback of my high school days thinking about all of this lol.....
you have to check the dates of the uva predictions. many never change their prediction and others wait to change right before when they know for a fact who it will be.
Looking forward to your write up. Think Nico Johnson and Jesse Williams will prove to be missed more for the interior defense of Alabama than currently expected. I think Moseley will have a hard time being an everyday ILB with a guard coming at him with bad intentions.
You should take a look at the 1st half of the Alabama A-Game which featured 1s on 1s for the most part. It's still available on WatchESPN online.

So, I am going to give this a shot.
1) Grimes is the running game coordinator to go with his offensive line duties, so given how they are recruiting OL, they will use his scheme. I am sure that they will continue to use the Hback and incoroprate some of the wham action and counter plays that we did not see in the spring.
2) Regardless of what happens this season on offense, this season is a building block to the future. We know that all the pieces are not in place for this offense yet, and some of the guys who will contribute this season are not great fits. We can't really evaluate true success of Loeffler and Grimes until they have this year and next year to match the talent that fits their system.
My hope is that Beamer rides out any struggles without trying to revert to something else that might fit this years talent better but will retard the long term implemention of the new philosophy. His MO has been to hit the panic button and change the offense in mid season if things are not working. I was okay with it because I didn't have any confidence in the coaches that he was working with. With these guys who have had success elsewhere, they need to operate without his interference. His only involvement should be deciding if they go for it on 4th down.
What I want to see this year is:
1) Effort
2) Fundamental Execution
3) Enthusiasm
I don't expect the OL to be perfect for the scheme. But, I do expect them to be fundamentally sound, enthusiastic, and disciplned. That is step one. Then, down the road you recruit players who do fit the system into an culture of disciplne, enthusiasm, and sound execution. That is a building block for success.
I am going to write more about that as we get closer to kickoff, but you are exactly right.
1) Move the tailback closer to the line.
2) Run inside zone. The runs will cut off the center's (or backside guard if the follow the normal blocking pattern) butt. Quick quick quick and be happy with getting 3.5-4.0 yards. A 3 yard gain is ok. A 1 yard gain is big trouble.
3) Establish the bootleg as a threat. This cuts down on the pursuit of the linebackers
4) Instead of using the stretch play to compliment the inside zone, use the bend back counter. Pitt and Boston College both ate VT up with it. Everyone blocks with the same look as the inside zone, but the end man on the line of scrimmage on the back side of where the inside zone would go seals the outside linebacker or defensive end to the inside.

By transferring to West, by God, Virginia, he is branded forevermore a traitor and will be vilified by the Panthers' fan base.
That's what worries me. If they are this fired up for Alabama, would they maintain that same focus when they prepare for Western Carolina and etc? I would wager they would be because of Loeffler. If Loeffler is as loud and demanding as he comes across, the mentality should be, "Win every opportunity and don't let go."
He just transferred to WVU.
Looks like he'll be playing for the Cousins, after all

DC Hokies usually has a viewing party at one of the local bars. Generally it's Bailey's in Ballston.
I will actually be in Charlotte at kickoff. Hopefully that means I will also be back in Charlotte for the ACCCG, if you dig my meaning.
Wonder if they have lights at Georgia State (which is where he is currently the OC)? I doubt it. That's pretty small-time.
I think in his heart of hearts this dude wants to go to blacksburg to play for us but he just wants to get all he can experience wise of the process and he will committ. We just have to be patient.
haha true, but I spend more time during the week in the insane portion of the state than anywhere else
Yup. I grew up in Prince William County. It was more Central VA when I was little, but by time I graduated HS it was Northern VA
Haha, sorry to hear about your bad experience. As far as I know, it has always been like that, I believe they even have a sign when you walk in directing you to the bar for food orders. Don't avoid The Mill because of that, I would definitely recommend another trip. They have the best beer selection of any bars, you can normally get a seat/pool table/dart board to socialize at, and their Rivermill Tots or Fries are the bees knees! Think: Tots (or fries) covered in cheese, bacon, jalapenos and served with a side of ranch.
I'd hope for a quick hitting run plays in the A gap against Bama in the 3-4. If Farris is quick enough to take on and reach the nose tackle (which is supposedly a lot less talented than Jesse Wiliams or Terrance cody) by himself then that opens up a lot to the offense. Then the playside guard could possible help double team the DE before peeling off to the playside ILB and the non-playside guard would cut off the scraping backer giving a good hole for the RB.
Here's kind of what I'm thinking with the zone blocking scheme against 3-4 with the center staying on the Nose

I was scrolling through the ACC blog on ESPN earlier today and came across a video that had her standing next to Andrea Adelson in the preview. My immediate thought was something about a giraffe.
The Northern Virginia/Central Virginia line (read: Insane/Sane line) is Prince William County and Fauquier County, you're safe.

Is he of the Chicago Griswolds? :)
