Sweet. Y'all will be able to notice us at the Bama game pretty easily. I promise.
Welcome! Also, agreed!
Thank you for your service.
I'm here until next week, when the apartment lease runs out....couldn't find a job in time....so now I have to go home, sad day.
And I'm in C-Burg, about to move to the south end of Blacksburg in a couple weeks. Good to know I'm not the only TKPer who stuck around the area.
Sweat is currently a 4 star, and by all accounts, he is rising fast after being very good in summer camps.
2014 is about shoring up defensive tackle with Dadi, Ekanem, and Teller in the mix at end. Big Luther and Harley are the bridge to the next group, with Williams, Baron, Smith, Dooley, and Jones providing depth, but landing Nnadi and Walker gives you that star potential. Then, you get the dynamic pass rusher who can take advantage of the double teams created by those guys on the interior. See Sweat.
I painted my Hokie Room 4 years ago. I decided not to go with Glidden, because I didn't like the Maroon, too light and bright. I can't remember the exact color I went with, I could look it up, but it was made by Behr. But here's a comparison of colors, if they are digitally correct.
PMS208:

Glidden:

First of all, all helmets need to be done away with except for the maroon VT helmet and I will explain why:
Tradition. Intimidation. When alabama rolls into town you don't see them wearing flashy new uniforms...same with all the historic programs. Virginia Tech, in the past 2 decades has earned the right to be part of that contingent of hard-nosed winning football programs. A winning program and staff will do exponentially more to recruit 5 star players than a new "fresh" uniform. Last, when you leave at least one thing the same (i.e. helmets) you give the other team something to remember you by...so when you play again you look like the same opponent that demolished them in years past.
Secondly, orange is our secondary color and it should stay that way. The orange uniforms need to be done away with regardless of what game it is. I don't mind a military jersey or whatnot, but just keep the helmets consistent.
Third, home uniforms should be maroon jerseys, white (or orange, since we are the ONLY school that can do that combo) pants, and away should be white on white. For BIG home games, maroon on maroon (seriously, only once a year for maximum effect...preferably thursday night since it looks scary. For BIG away games, white with maroon pants.
As for helmet stickers, not opposed but I just want the Hokies to make their own tradition. I thought the black uniforms looked cool and would accept them maybe once every few years, but as a coach, if my players were getting their motivation from the uniform that they are wearing, then I am doing something wrong. New uni's are cool, but they mean nothing if you lose. I don't mind modernizing, but keep it simple, make the maroon prominent but don't forget about the orange.
yeah i know, but i can still dream about it being a pride sticker!
That is one big dude.
NOT LISTED: The fact that Dadi Nicolas and Luther Maddy each got at least one vote. I was hoping for the entire vote totals to be listed.

In the spring, Nicolas and Collins were splitting reps at DE opposite Gayle. Wilson is back to back up Gayle. Marshall was terrific in the bowl game, but he really vanished in the spring. He wasn't just not getting reps. He was not being talked about in any context at all. I don't even remember him getting a snap in the spring game with either the 1's or 2's.
Isn't that exactly what they do for every position? That or listen to the hype about every player.
I thought Edwards got a decent number of snaps in the bowl game. He looked good in the Spring Game. He will defintely be better at the point of attack (he looked much stronger) but I will be interested to see how well he plays in space following the year off.
yea just left overs from the eric green days...
Cool! Whereabouts?? I'm actually down near the state park. Yay for local TKPer's!
"Another Orange Bowl? - I'll be at the beach."
I don't know whether to cheer for Nicolas or smh at Collins and Marshall.
I'd still put the odds at 100-1 that Nicolas doesn't start over those 2 guys.
Well this is timely:

Bama is primarily zone blocking, like most other teams these days.
As of right now Dadi is top line opposite of Gayle. Screen grab is from the media guide that was just released.

and penetration. Don't forget that the d-line needs to get good penetration.
