yeah, it almost kind of sucks that they've fallen off so much. And it's definitely a damn shame that we are now in a rotation where we play both Miami and UVA at home or away in any given year, we're no longer guaranteed to play one of the two in Lane every year. Now UNC, Pitt, and Duke are our permanent off-year home games.

I could swear I've seen that somewhere, but I just wasted a ton of time trying to find it. No such luck. The audio is definitely available online and can easily be found. Maybe one of our talented video editors can splice something together.

Bookending the season with losses, especially on a big stage, kills me inside a little bit. I have seen it happen one too many times. But I think I would ultimately prefer option #2 because it will show that our coaches may be turning things around. That helps with recruiting, even if we're still losing to the "big boys" in college football. We're demonstrating that we're still developing a solid team without having a boatload of 5* recruits. To win the ACC, we'd have to beat either Clemson or FSU (barring any unexpected madness), which is no small task. If option #2 plays out, we still probably end up ranked around #15 in the final polls. Not too bad, considering we barely got to a mediocre bowl last year and then barely won it.

Interesting because I'd say PSU is the WVU of the B1G (except literate). Chalk it up to the (predominantly) douchebag Philly fans.

Eh, their 2001 is quoted more often. 17 future first-round picks, 38 draftees overall, and a combined 41 Pro Bowl appearances by 13 players. And the vast majority of the big-name guys from 2002 were there in 2001, plus 11 guys who were drafted in the 2002 draft, including such names as Ed Reed, Jeremy Shockey, Clinton Portis, and Bryant McKinnie.

And to think we'd have sent that game to OT if Ernest Wilford had his hands that day...

I prefer #BEATBAMA in August, then have Bama end up in the title game because #zOMG1LossSECTEAM where we #BEATBAMA again.

I would also like to bang Olivia Munn and I figure if we can pull the above off, that shouldn't pose any significant difficulties.

Architect, you approached the question just right. The scenario has a probably a .01% chance of actually happening, but the question is designed to guage the bias against Bama. That and I love senseless hypotheticals that rack your brain. If option 2 were to win a BCS bowl at the end of the season then no right minded VT fan could pick option one.

I lust for the big win again. We haven't had it since 03. We've been waiting for the epic win for a decade now. Personally I would go with option one based on my bias against Bama and the liklihood it would keep them out of another national title game and just to have that feeling of taking down the giant. Losing 8 games probably would hurt our recruiting overall but could help keeping the very best VA talent away from Bama.

Agreed, as I am one such student. UVA was like a little brother you always knew you could beat when you wanted (and the refs didn't COMPLETELY suck). Miami was always a challenge and it seemed that the higher ranked team rarely won. I'm pretty disappointed that Miami declined so much since its taken away a lot of the energy around that game.

But it has to end with a BCS bowl loss. I say fuck it. Lets pump up Beamer's record against top 5 teams, beat Bama, and keep them out of the title (provided we also take down UVA)

For about 5 years, Miami was our biggest rival. You could probably convince me that it should have been UVA - but the hatred just wasn't there. Ask any student between 2000-2005 what game they wanted to win most and the answer was almost always Miami. Miami was the game that defined the season. For about 2 months leading up to the 2003 game, the dorm I lived in would break out with spontaneous f*** Miami chants. You never knew when it would happen but every couple days or so...

There was a reason Lane was loud and completely filled 30 mins before kickoff. The likes of which we haven't seen since.

I hated Jacory Harris for his arrogance, but loved when we played him. I'm hoping Morris can live up to the same "hype" and standard Jacory set before him.

If we #BEATBAMA by anything other than forfeiture (and really, who would be surprised to see the NCAA hammer fall on another SEC program...), we will not be losing 8 other games in the season. But, these 'would you rather' games are never really about reality... Just about making a choice between two options that are both unpalatable. So I'll play.

Even though it would be following the same recipe of most of our last 10 seasons or so (disregarding last year), I'd rather lose to Bama and then go on to win 10+ games and the ACC. Beating Bama and then losing that many games would be one ecstatic week, followed by a season of misery. And, in that scenario, the '13 squad would not be smiled upon by posterity for simply having beaten a single team, even if that team is consensus #1 Alabama. Just my two cents.

They're on their way back. I'm ready to hate Duke Johnson. Kid is sick. From Bitter's beat writer/better know an opponent series, it sounds like Morris is going to be hate-able too.

Ok. I'll give you a turkey leg.

From the PSU people: They can handle losing to Michigan. It is a really good school and while the fans are jerks they're at least intelligent jerks. They hate losing to OSU. OSU is the WVU of the Big Ten.

The only good thing that would come of beating Bama and then losing 8 games would be that it would make the Tide look pretty damn bad for losing to us. But that's not much of a silver lining. Let's just beat everybody

I would rather #BEATBAMA and lose 7 game as long as we capture the #DecadeofDominance. If we beat them and lose to a couple other teams after making them a little less glamerous, it might make living in Bama a little more pleasant and hinder them from pulling 4 and 5* out of VA.

So pretty much beating the schools that Cornwell and Park committed to the first and last games of the season?

This was by far my favorite game. Some jagoff tried to push me out of "his seats" way up in the East stands closest to the SE, but my buddies and I held our ground. It was deafening the entire time. You could feel the energy. I especially loved screaming Fuck Miami into the intercom at Burger King around 1:30 am on gameday with about 40 other students who just let out of a party nearby.

I don't have any ill will towards Alabama, so I'll have to go with losing to them, ACCCG, BCS bowl. But I also don't like how the options don't include winning anything bigger than the ACC. This poll is out of whack.

Lose to Bama, win out the rest of the way then #BeatBama in the MNC!
