Brown is making his announcement the day before he leaves, from what I have heard. Really excited to see our boys perform, and hopefully have CJ & Co. pull a JC-esque recruiting session.
He could be the top OL in our class. He's basically waiting to see if Ole Miss offers (I believe his dad is an alumnus), if not I think he ends up in orange and maroon. The "Ole Miss Insider" on 247 predicted him to VT, so that might imply the Rebels aren't planning on offering before he makes his decision.
He has some active feet, and moves around well in space. Would be a nice out of state get for Grimes.
Oh, and concerning Holmes going to OSU, his tweets came off that he was extremely happy on his visit and he didn't even want to come home. Sometimes kids just fall in love with a school. Like when we fell in love with VT, can't hate em for that.
In the same vein, our coaches are trying to pull top prospects from other states as well. So you gotta expect it both ways. We can't just get all the VA stars and then top stars in other states.
I feel like many are stressed about this class, it's August and commitments mean nothing right now. Come Feb, then we can be worried.
We still have a whole season ahead of us. Many kids could just be waiting to sees what happens with not only our season, but theirs too. Some who have a low ranking right now can still elevate.
Anyway, it's just too early and we are worrying about juniors in HS making decisions. I'm sure our coaches are busting their asses, and truly only time will tell.
UNC cheated at basketball?? I don't believe.
I've watched that game 3 times this offseason. It makes me happy.
Texas A&M upsetting Alabama on their home turf.
do it Nnadi!!!
Would really make my off season right now
No, I agree. If there were a semi-pro league for kids who didn't get into college, then it would destroy the college game. Lots of players would go semi-pro instead of going to school.
I know we still have 7 months to go but this recruiting class is not going the way I had hoped. I sure hope that the coaches can get back in with some of our top targets. I thought this year we could have possibly have pulled in a top 10 class but so far not so much. I like the guys we have landed but hate missing out on top talent in VA every year. Am I becoming Chicken Little or is this becoming an issue that needs to resolved immediately ?
Boise State vs Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl in 2007 was one that will always stick out in my mind.
EDIT: Looks like I was a minute late with this one...
I'm gonna go major old school on you all....1974 Notre Dame v USC....ND was up 24-0, wiping the floor with the Trojans...Anthony Davis scored with less than a minute left in the first half, halftime score 24-7. AD took the second half kickoff back 102 yd, sparking the USC comeback...final score USC 55, ND 24. The win locked the Heisman up for AD. A classic game.
Hail Flutie, 1984 BC vs Miami game. Watched it live, still remember thinking in the 3rd quarter that the team with the ball last would win. An oldie, but one of the best ever, and you get to see Miami lose at home. Sweeeeet!
Stanford-USC in 2007. Biggest upset ever. Also, Nevada-BSU in 2010 was quite fantastic as well.

2003 Miami - Ohio St. is still my favorite television game experience.
It had a little of everything.
Lots of story lines/star power
Great Defenses
Clutch plays
Bad calls
2 overtimes
It starts a little slow, but the excitement really gets going in the 2nd half.
As an added bonus - you get to hear Keith Jackson call a great game

The Aftermath
The double-overtime National Championship was initially talked about as one of the greatest bowl games in the history of college football. Ohio State came to the desert as big underdogs, but just as they did all season, the Buckeyes played tough and went toe-to-toe with the Canes until the final whistle. The game had featured good defense, very physical battles among the offensive and defensive linemen, and strong performances by the teams' star players. It was the first national championship game to go into overtime, and the back-and-forth battle continued all the way to the 1-yard line on the final play. OSU had leaned on their defense all season, and the unit came through when they were needed most. The goal-line stand in the 2nd overtime is considered a defining moment of the Ohio St. season and cemented that group as one of the best in Buckeye history. Jim Tressel won his 1st Division 1-FBS national championship as a head coach, and it was the storied program's first national title since Woody Hayes's 1968 squad. They were also the first college football team to ever win 14 games in an undefeated season. Krenzel and Doss were named Co-MVP's of the game. It was particularly emotional for Doss, because he had come back to Ohio State for his senior year when he would most likely have been taken in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft. But the dedicated senior would eventually win the coveted crystal trophy, and would also go on to win a Super Bowl trophy with the Indianapolis Colts. Miami's juggernaut program enjoyed three more years of successful football, but the program went downhill for the rest of the decade. Ohio State has had mostly 10+ win seasons, and has dominated the Big Ten. The two teams would not meet until almost a decade later; once in 2010 and once in 2011, with Ohio State winning the first meeting 36-24 and Miami winning the next 24-6.
The amount of future NFL talent that played in the game is considered highly exceptional. Of the 43 players who started in the game (OSU's Chris Gamble started on both offense and defense), 37 of them were eventually NFL draft picks (including 18 first-rounders). Of the 100 players who played in the game, 58 went on to play in the NFL.
I gotta stop running away from this decision— D_Nnadi (@DerrickNnadi) June 23, 2013
I bet he commits in the next couple of days...
Michigan State Georgia in the Outback Bowl was one of a hell back and forth with blocked kicks at the end.
Saw the shirts in alumni hall in the new river valley mall today. I got really giddy when I spotted them. They look great! I bought mine through TPK to support the site.
I also want to qualify my position on this - I really really hope Fischer and all other VT recruits in this situation would be able to get their grades high and become part of Hokie nation.
A follow up question to this community is - as fans, would you rather see great athletes with classroom struggles on the team, or, good ones with a solid academic record? I feel we should stress on at least decent (not spectacular) HS grades, at the very minimum to eliminate qualification struggles .... What I don't know is how much of this information is available to a recruiting coach. Any thoughts?
How much of a risk is it to pursue talent, even great talent, if the academics are questionable even at the very beginning? Won't that be creating a severe imbalance in planning out the team's structure year after year?
+1 for the uat reference

Oh Okay didn't know that
