Hopefully he gives us a Hand.
I predict that the chiefs will take Eric Fisher. Oh wait, was that last night?
Do we even have "Sports Management" or something comparable?
Guess he is getting a "going pro" degree?
I think if he hadn't been so publicly excoriated over it, it would have been overlooked. But teh interwebs made a huuuuuge thing of it, so...
I think he showed up to Travon's press conference since they're friends. We're hoping that Travon helps to sway Hand our way.
Just arrived where?

Here is a link to an interview with Hand. He says VT "feels like home." Note that he is changing his major to sports management from engineering.
Thanks Aidan for the great preview!!
I'm super excited because I'll be in town and the whole family will be going to Sunday's game! I went to high school with one of the UVA players, which is part of why we're going, but we're also hoping to see a Hokie win!
I want to take the series. I'd love to get two on them. But if Tech can take one against UVA, I'll be pleased. UVA is a SOLID ball team. But they're beatable. Tech needs to get on the board first to put the pressure on and play absolutely flawless defense.
We'll also get a look at how mentally tough our boys are. UVA can put teams in tough situations and we'll see how the Hokies handle the pressure. And it will give us an idea of how the team might hold up in the field of 64. *fingers crossed*
I totally understand the reasons that would turn teams away from Davis - I guess I was trying to make the point that such a problem might have been overlooked in past years due to his athleticism, height & potential.
I think Byrn made the play look closer than it was with his diving effort. It was kind of a duck and overthrown, though you're definitely correct that he hung in there though.
That is what I am hoping doesn't happen to Carlis Parker. He seems like a decent kid and a good enough football player but during the spring game you could tell he wasn't comfortable yet at WR and the whole reason he committed to tech was because they were the only ones offering him as a quarterback. Hope he either becomes comfortable at WR or gets the look at WR like he was hoping for.
Sidenote, was at Campus Emporium today and saw a Logan Thomas Army All-American card. It raved at how he was going to be an outstanding, athletic WR. Kind of made me chuckle in the middle of the store.
Very, very true. It is super expensive to put down the money for season tickets AND the required Athletic Club donation.
And the economy is part of why I'm not surprised that many fans decided it wasn't worth it. Another reason that people forget is that a lot of donors are getting up there in age. Lots of people just can't get in and out of Lane anymore and can't afford the elevator seats, and their kids don't want the seats, so they get rid of them to avoid having the hassle of selling them for each game. I feel like there was a huge amount of older alum who were forced to give up there seats in the last few years, and that's just based on what I saw in my own section each week.
no special info but I always thought he came up favoring his shoulder or arm once a game after either landing on it or getting hit there. maybe just me though
I heard the defense was only allowed to run the "base defense", but I'm not entirely sure if that means base personnel group, or base formation, or base plays. I'd venture to say it's the first, but I haven't had a chance to rewatch the spring game to find out which (not that I'm entirely sure I want to...)

Just out of curiosity, I checked the predictions on 247 to see if they got it right. Turns out all twelve predictions were for virginia tech, but eleven of those twelve were made today. Kind of defeats the purpose of predicting if he's already committed.
I completely agree, and I said it mostly in jest. However, that is what was so frustrating about Davis- he's an incredible athlete when he fully commits to it. So, if Davis went to the Patriots as expected, Darth Hoodie is going to straighten him out or he is out of a job in a hurry.
Also, I'm not sure, but I saw a tweet last week or before saying that teams are very concerned about Davis' health. Anyone have additional info on that?

I wouldn't even wish that on Marcus Davis. The Jets really seem like an incredibly dysfunctional and mismanaged organization, top to bottom. And while Davis gets much flack for what seemed like a lack of effort, he still made quite a few big plays for us. I hope he irons out the issues he had here and develops into a solid NFL receiver. He's definitely a gifted athlete.
I think it's an injustice to Corey Fuller to be drafted by the Jets. I would much rather see Fuller go to teams like the Patriots, the Panthers, or even Green Bay than to be drafted into a circus that's the Jets. I think that is more fitting for Marcus Davis!
I remember distinct throws from him to Willie Byrn(long one that Byrn dropped) and nice one to Mark Irick on the sideline. He hung in the pocket, fearlessly, and threw a bomb to him when he knew he was gonna get blasted by the DT.
Impressed
Probably if there hadn't been some very public outing of Davis's "blocking skills," he'd be going a bit higher. I mean, before last year, some people had him going in the 1st round, IIRC.
Sweet, well keep me posted if you guys do go this year I'd love to tag along.

Looks like a big difference to me, too. As much as I'd like to claim we're particularly strong academically, I just can't. I wonder what the rankings of the various schools are. I'd think engineering would be pretty high, arts are probably pretty low but sciences should be pretty good. I can't imagine the business school is too strong. At least he called out the engineering program as being strong, I'd love to see a collection of engineers on the field.
