Speaking of wrs, it looks like carlis parker is in between qb and wr. Last week he was working with Loeffler and the qbs, this morning I just him running routes inside cassell. Hope they make the right choice for the kid, because he has some speed and athleticism and then some.

How about a video of VTs best QB runs? Logan, Tyrod, Marcus, Randall, Vick, and DeShazo all had some pretty sweet wheels (pun intended.) Seriously, a QB run compilation would be sweet.

oh man, the ideas are percolating on this one...

Bitch, by Meredith Brooks maybe? Or maybe take it in a different direction with something like Millionaire Waltz by Queen. It's certainly effiminent, and everytime he says "I want to share it with you" cut to a terrible UVA turnover...

Don't forget the Evans train running through Maryland!

Complicated by avril lavigne please!

I'm not the only one that watched through the whole song...

I think Thomas was locked onto Davis too much last year, which hurt the passing game (I know he set passing records, but not as efficiently as the year before.) Throwing to the RBs and H-backs will help Thomas move the chains and get that completion percentage up. McCray may see a lot of passes, and Coles/Caleb/Stanford will be great threats over the middle (Thomas likes to throw over the middle; maybe easier footwork for him?) And with Asante and Knowles stretching the field I think this year's group will spread the numbers around efficiently. With a ball control mentality (and an easier schedule than last year) I can see Thomas putting up 3000+ yds, but I don't expect anyone to go over 800 yds receiving. The improvement should be in the overall scoring, with lots of running the ball, short completions, and grinding down the clock in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Unfortunately this does not help the overall passing numbers.

I expect a better group than last year, better prepared and with much more consistency. Moorehead seems to hold these guys to a higher standard, which should help Thomas as well. Last year's passing game didn't materialize until the 4th quarter (if at all.) I think that was lack of preparation, consistency and understanding from both the WRs and the QB. There is no doubt our receiving corps has always had the physical talent to be an efficient passing team. No, the problem has always been preparation and execution, something I expect this year's group to be better at.

I think there is a lot of guys about the same level. That should produce a great deal of competition. My expectations:
- Assuming Coles stays healthy, I think he will be the primary option. Much like Davis (in the games he cared) last year or Wilford his last year, I expect Coles to push to break some VT receiving records this year. Davis had 51/953/5 last year. A healthy Coles could put up 60/1050/10.

- I'm too have reservations about Knowles, but if you see him as a complementary piece and not the next Andre Davis, then he fits well. He had 19 catches for 240, 1 TD last year. I could see 25/300/3. Same with Asante, he's a complementary piece.

- Stanford and Caleb provide the upside. It usually take a year or two for our receivers to come into being, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were #2 and #3 by the end of the year. Either or both should be in the Dyrell Roberts range from last year, 33/398/1.

- Guys like Smiling/Byrn/Meyer/Irick could also blossom and end up with 15-20 catches, especially if there are injuries. I could see Byrn being the 4th guy, the safety valve, all year.

But I think the big improvement will be in RB/TE catches. My guess is Malleck and McCray end up being the two guys. I could see either/both in the Andre Smith 2010 category with 20/200/5. I also think we'll see JCC surpass his 23/132/1 from last year....and...wait for it....maybe a functioning RB screen play that all RB's use for success.

The big worry is Coles health. If he's healthy, our worst case is Coles/Asante/Knowles get all the catches. Our best case is Coles is 1st team All-ACC, Stanford/Caleb are FR-AA and the TE/RB's are dangerous....with Asante/Knowles being the 4th WR's.

I have my reasons for using IE, but many people don't agree. But what I don't understand about this issue is that the Embedded videos only do the glitch over the navigation bar if they are in a comment. If they are in the original post, then there isn't an issue.

Hey!

I love the new layout. TKP has the type of style I'd like to use in my own blog in the future.

I've a few questions. What type of CMS (if any) are you using? Is everything built with custom code? I was really getting into web design (HTML, CSS, JQUERY, Javascript et al.) Then I got into wordpress. I thought wordpress would be easy to use but the PHP really overwhelmed me and I haven't tried any web design since then.

Thoughts or suggestions? I know this site isn't for tech help ---> but this is the kind of blog I want to create... minimal, functional, and clean. Any suggestions are welcomed!!!

Drowning Pool "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor" would be awesome to show case a hard hitting D!

My perfect scenario is for Shane to take a smaller HC job, preferably in the south, and succeed wildly for five years while Bud takes over.

But if Shane gets it, there is probably a reason. Nobody ever wants to bring this up, but Foster has been a serious candidate about 7 or 8 times at jobs he would have taken, and wasn't picked. So the VT Admin, for which Beamer will certainly at least be a big consultant, passes on Bud, there may be a reason.

Bud's also pushing the past-your-prime age, he'll (shockingly) be 54 this summer. Frank Beamer became a HC at 35 and was HC at Virginia Tech at 41. Shane just turned 36. Frank will turn 67 this fall.

Considering all this, one can make the case that if Frank thought Bud was up for it, he may have hung them up after Tyrod. To me, it feels like he's hanging on to turn it over to Shane at about age 40.

I will probably be an oddity in this thought but I still feel like our best helmet was the black and maroon helmet from the BS game. I know we lost and can't wear that helmet probably but it was such a tough look imo. If I could redesign it I would get rid of the motherboard graphics from the unis and middle helmet stripe. It wasn't ALLMAROONEVERYTHING which I am a huge fan of but it would be a tight look. Plus it played a good tribute to the cadets and just looked tough. With that being said my favorite is All Maroon.

It would be great to see another matte finish maroon this year or even a slick hydrochrome maroon helmet this season.

Auburn's Chizik era laundry will be aired for a few years now. Hopefully none of it comes back directly on Grimes, but we should probably get used to the fact that he was in the middle of an anthill down there and the mudslinging may not reflect well at times. When hoos et.al. start to associate Grimes with Chizik, it's best just to pull a thick skin and ignore it unless something direct comes out against Grimes. There is guilt by association, and the group he associated with was certainly guilty. No way around that.

I feel like Bud Foster deserves the shot to be the next head coach at VT. I think Shane is great and has extremely high upside but CBF is a legend. he may not be a great head coach due to his brash nature and intensity but I think he has gone way overboard to prove himself worthy of a shot at it. I would be sad to see Shane get it over Bud due to his name. He is still growing as a coach and the rb rotation last year was annoying. (may not of been his choice)

Our defense has kept us in and allowed us to win all those games in the past and if they hadn't bowed their backs last year we would have been worse than 7-6 IMO. If he gets passed up it would be tough and most people would go to another ACC school and kick our A$$es.

I have to remind myself that this is just an assortment of highlights and probably not a good reflection of the entire tone and results of the practice. Miller may have faired much better overall and that could have been a fluke play, incorrect protection or even an isolated drill.

i figured once the newton thing came out and was hushed real quick because they were in the title race that espn would get a hold of something a few years down the road and theyd be stripped of their title. guess this is it. ill be interested to see how this plays out once more details come out

I've always thought Foxy Shazam's "unstoppable" would make for a pretty sweet montage. Maybe do cuts of beefy running plays and players taking the field and stuff during the verses, and then cut to awesome long bombs and kickoff returns and stuff like that during the chorus...
