Where is this "Baltimore love Flacco" stuff coming from? About a month ago everyone anywhere near Baltimore was even making fun of him. 4 good games (still shouldn't have won SB MVP, Boldin was clearly the best player on the field) doesn't make you a $100 million quarterback. With how bad their defense is giving him that kind of contract would be irresponsible. He's at best a top 10 quarterback, again that's a best case scenario. He knows he can get that money from a team as dumb as the Jets and the Ravens know that they can't afford to waste that money, especially with the extremem cap concerns they have. Unless he gives them a hometown discount I wouldn't be surprised to see him walk. But I think the most likely scenario is the Ravens franchise him, hope he plays like himself next year, and then get him for what he's actually worth.
Last thing I heard was that they are relocating the tennis courts, and supposedly adding a roller rink or something, at which point they will put the practice facility there on Washington.
But, I suppose I wouldn't be surprised if the plans have changed again.
I dunno, turkey legs are so delicious... it's like "drinking the Koolaid" but instead it's "eating the turkey legs"
Read an article in the DP a few years back about a contract between VDOT and some construction company for the redesign of the I-64/US-258 (Mercury Blvd) interchange in Hampton.
Among other things, there was a clause that whenever a sign was moved, the construction company was paid something like $500. Every morning, each sign was "repositioned" for no reason other than that it only cost them maybe $5 each in labor.
tl;dr version: VDOT's lawyers have a problem closing loopholes in contracts, causing them to bleed money.
Nope- not going on the Tennis Courts at Washington St... and there were serious issues ($$ related) with the stadium woods site not to mention the forest which is used for research, VTCC, getting stoned, etc :-).
Who says it has to be a flat screen? We can go old school and have a massive tube TV for the scoreboard, and it will be much more aerodynamic!
Or reinforce the shit out of it like hokieshibe said.
If we are getting a new scoreboard to replace the new one, why just get rid of the old one? Move it to the East/South corner. It would get us the second scoreboard, and the only cost would be moving/stabilizing the board.
Design it for proper rainwater runoff in a hurricane or something?
Guess I should have added a </sarcasm> tag to the end of that post...
If there are plans to expand the NEZ that are going to occur in the near future why build a new scoreboard that would need to be replaced or restructured to facilitate the NEZ expansion? That is VDOT logic.
Solid passer, but his deep passes definitely do float quite a bit. A couple of those would be picked off at the college level. His instincts on D would make for a great Rover/FS. All I can think is Kam Chancellor.
He has a high release, looks a little bit like EG. Brown and Eddie should be taking some notes.
I definitely see improvement on his progressions in his junior tape. It looks like he has good fundamentals and shows good zip on out routes. He does have a tendency to float up the ball on deep passes. I wish our o-line blocked half as well as his in these highlights. Good to see Polk making some nice catches and blocking downfield in that video as well.
Most of the funding comes from IMG and Hokie Club, so give it a couple more years before anything else is done. Though I feel they would expand/improve the North Endzone before they added a second video board in the stadium.
Didn't mean to direct my comments specifically at you, but it feels like nobody can be happy with the improvements being made. Replacing the existing scoreboard and upgrading the sound system should have been top priorities, and it took quite an effort to get the ball rolling and acquire the necessary funding. A second scoreboard just seems way out of the realm of possibility right now. As others said, there doesn't seem to be an ideal place to put it. Also, with the reports about debt from athletic departments (especially Tennessee) coming to light, I'd rather us retain some fiscal responsibility rather than unnecessarily build and add on to Lane Stadium in an attempt to keep up with the Joneses.
Would anyone really notice if people destroyed baltimore? Its already shitty
Yea unless you want it to fly, AOE is not the answer
Thanks fellas'! Turkey legs to ya both.
His high school is a pipeline for uva (Taquan 'I get drunk and kick cars' Mizzell also goes to Bayside High). For the fsu thing, maybe there's a connection there too because EJ Manuel was from the same high school.
the other day. Something about his handlers like UVA, he likes FSU. Just doesn't seem to be a Tech guy.
According to Rivals, there's no interest or offer from VT to him. What's up there?
French and I went and watched Woodbridge-Hylton last year. There was a bunch of talent on the field (Hand, E.J. Levenberry, Evrett Edwards, Chasz Wright, Travon McMillian...). It had a crazy finish, Woodbridge kicked a field goal to go up 15-14 with 50 seconds left. Hylton returned a squib kick to win is 20-15.
I know a bunch of you on the boards here go to games, it'd be pretty cool if we could share what we see during the season.
Per Adam Schefter: Philadelphia and Michael Vick have reworked his current contract: one year, around $10 million. He will "compete" for the starting job in Philadelphia.

Desmond Howard, Deion Branch, Santonio Holmes, Dexter Jackson. All of them weren't traded, but they were let go of within 2 years of winning SB MVP. Jackson and Howard left in free agency the following offseason.
