The Jets brought in Marty Mornhinweg this offseason, who was recently the OC in Philadelphia. He runs a West Coast system and Vick is the antithesis of a West Coast QB. Vick only had one good year in Philly, and Reid had not released any of his playcalling duties at that point (2010). He catered the system to Vick's abilities. When MW took over, he didn't mesh well with MV7 because he did not change his system at all and it showed on the field. Besides having one of the worst O-line's in the NFL, Vick just isn't accurate enough of a mid-range passer to flourish in that system. Had the Jets kept Sporano or brought in Pep Hamilton as OC, Vick would've been very close to a sure thing for the Jets. Also, Chip Kelly has been essentially recruiting Vick to stay in Philly and calls him nearly every day (on an interview with First Take and a SportsCenter spot). He also said Philly is looking at former Oregon QB's to bring in, particularly Dennis Dixon, to run the system.
Isn't most of that information available on the electronic banner between the upper/lower deck in the south EZ? Where would you put another giant scoreboard? Can we get one decent scoreboard before people piss and moan for a second one? Yeesh.
Thanks for agreeing, but I just want to quickly point out that you can see down/distance/time/timeouts/score by looking at the ticker style scoreboard above the media rooms (I believe they'e media rooms) in the south. However, for replays/challenges/all the other random fun on Hokievision, we NEED a second jumbotron.
Given the success of the running QBs, I see the Ravens trading Tyrod this offseason. Someone to think about in this instance is Minnesota, perennially under the radar for someone like him, but makes a lot of sense, to me at least. What do all the successful running QB teams have in common? A great running back! Minnesota has the best RB in the league right now, and currently a mediocre QB starting for them. Ponder is not good, stop kidding yourselves right now. I thought Tyrod was going to originally get drafted by Minnesota, but I was wrong. I still think he ends up here.
Plus, wouldn't it be awesome to see Tyrod beat Christian Ponder for something on the big stage?

The fans in the north endzone shouldn't have to turn their backs to the field to see down/distance/time/timeouts/score/replays. Weaver: GET US TWO SCOREBOARDS!

As Bob Vanderheyden point out, I completely goofed in leaving off Orion Martin in the notable exceptions. Martin was a walk-on transfer from Norfolk State and earned 2nd team All-ACC honors in 2008. He certainly deserves a mention.

If Tyrod starts anywhere, my money is on the Eagles. There's rumors of Vick going to the Jets and Nick Foles doesn't seem like the prototypical Chip Kelly offense. Tyrod could do big things in a high tempo offense like that

Something tells me Hand won't commit by Spring Game but I fully anticipate something by the Fall. I realize he will want to take officials to see games and such, but seeing as how he's currently on a break from recruiting to focus on school, I could see him wanting to get it out of the way early to focus on his final year of high school.
I like to think that if we land hand early, like say the spring game, it will make a big difference in our overall recruiting for 2014. seeing the best player in the country commit to us so early should be noticed by some of our other recruits. does this really make a difference or just wishful thinking on my part?

The fact of the matter is that we don't have a place for a second jumbotron. The North Endzone has expansion plans in place once we have the money and have more of our debt from our last expansion paid off. My thought is that the only way to make it work for 2 jumbotrons is to put it between the South Endzone and East Stands and the North Endzone and West Stands. I don't see that happening though. Then again, we have the top architecture school so someone in there better get to working out a design that will work for us pronto
