September 11th, 2010 was my first home game as a Virginia Tech student after three years in the community college world (one year in Raleigh, two at NRCC). I'm very excited for my first Hokie home game as a student, and even though the weather was lousy, and I was still smarting over the loss to Boise State, I figured we'd show up and take care of business.
We're up 10 nothing in the second quarter, and I'm like, yeah we should be doing better, but it's not too bad.
Then, they score on a 77 yard screen pass to the running back in which we miss a million tackles. Right then, I knew we would lose. Even after a couple of Chris Hazley field goals, Drew Dudzik (damn him) scores two touchdowns on option plays that we look like the keystone cops in defending.
That game felt like a damn punch in the stomach. It didn't help at all that JMU kids had seemingly come out of nowhere in the student section, as I was surrounded by them.
Worst damn day of my life.
You're going to have to tell us the restaurant now.

If Jesse Allen could freakin catch, we win & we beat what many others think was the best team in the country
BC in 07 by far, miserable game and I woke up with mono the next day.
Miami 05 was bad too, only game I ever painted up for, think it was in the 40's at kickoff.
Let's hope he learned a Lot from his last game against bama on nov 24th

My guess is VT won't put out a release until the other 2 coaches are hired. I sourced Feldman's report because I trust his judgement of information quality, and I can't remember him getting burned on a scoop before.

GT in '09 was also rough. Most boring game ever, mixed with a loss. blegh.
I'll never forget sitting in the super dome after Danny Coale made that catch. They went to review it, and I get a bunch of texts from all friends, both hokies and non-hokies, saying it was a catch and it was awesome and that the call was going to stand. And then the call was overturned... I have never felt so let down in my short life.

You gotta commit to it and hope for the best. But there are plenty of red flags that this is a terrible idea.
I just don't understand why an OC who knows Urban Meyers system would come into Auburn and take Gus Malzahn talent and try to run a pro-style set. That just seems nonsensical to me, and only is attributable to being too weak to talk Chizik out of it. If that's the case, what hybrid cluster truck will Billy Hite ....errr....Frank Beamer talk him into?
I wasn't sure if we should keep him on the staff, but after seeing this tweet, my opinion changed:

Obviously I'm aware you can't keep coach around just b/c players like him, but if all the players feel this way about Steiny, then I say give him another shot as a position coach. The fact that he's stuck around through all this turmoil shows his loyalty to the players and the team. He might've been in over his head, but he's still a Hokie, and now that he's no longer an OC, I think it's time to stop the bashing.
Shane was/is one of the most coveted young assistants in the southeast. He's bona fide.

I'm glad there's resolution to the whole thing (as long as this isn't retracted at some point). I'm not too thrilled about hiring the QB coach for the Lions when they went 0-16, but I will gladly give him and whomever he brings on as his position coaches a chance. I wish him nothing but the best and hope he's able to make a positive change to VT's offense and understand that it may take more than a single season to see any real changes.
I missed that one year of experience he has. My bad.

"Shoehorn Hokie legacies," you say? You mean like giving the job to a former long snapper that has never coached running backs before?
For me its not a individual game, no for me its Marcus Vick. As a player i loved MV5 more than MV7 maybe because i was really to young to follow MV7 as closely i did with MV5. I firmly believe had Marcus kept his nose clean in 2006 he would have been a finalist for the Heisman and led an undefeated Hokies team to play Ohio State in the National Title game.
For games im gonna have to go with:

will this hire keep Logan for next year? I hope so

To make matters worse, after the JMU game I got the most burned, worst tasting pizza from DX on the way back to the dorm.
