I actually think, with his youth and energy, he could give the stagnant offense a much needed jolt, and get the fanbase behind the offense instead of yelling, "You suck!" on every 4th down. I exaggerate, surely, but...
What I think Beamer is looking for is somebody to continue to build up the program when he steps down. Bud is getting old, Wiles isn't going to be around forever, and I think there are pieces of the staff to basically hand over when Beamer decides to step down.
Scott may also help make Logan's stock go up if he can restore Logan's confidence in himself and call terrific game. I think this might be the one.
It worked for Charlie Sheen in Major League!!!
To me that not one beat writer mentioned anything about pep hamilton being interviewed until Teel mentioned him being interviewed twice earlier in the week. All the speculation was internet and twitter driven about Pep. Now all of a sudden we get back to back leaks from the beat writers for Chuck Long and Loeffler?
I really hope the net is a lot wider than these names we keep hearing.
The problem was Auburn ran a spread offense with Malzhan, and when he left to take the job at Arkansas State as HC, Scott came in, and tried to install a pro-style scheme which was the wrong decision made by Gene Chizik, and Chizik paid a heavy price for it.
If GC had stuck with a coordinator who can run a similar spread, I think Auburn wouldn't have been a dumpster fire.
Actually the head coach (chizick) got fired
Did Heather Dinich help make these scheduling decision's? I dont see why Maryland couldn't have been away and have our Miami home game this is bullshit!
If the #1 goal is to beat Alabama, then I got bad news. I think Nick Saban pretty much had his offense figured out.
If he is in fact a candidate for offensive coordinator, then I actually like his upside. The reason why I was so enamored by Pep is because he wanted to play smash-mouth football, Loeffler does too. Listen to this.
Here's an excerpt from a good interview where he discusses his offensive philosophy.
JAE: What are your offense's core philosophies?
Loeffler: "Protect the ball and run it. The foundations and the core values of football have not changed. Some plays are exciting and all that, but at the end of the day, it's protecting the football, running the football and staying on schedule. To stay on schedule, you've got to throw the ball."

Pound the rock, beat Alabama.
Brady came from behind to beat bama in the bowl game... That's something w haven't done in the modern era....
As an opening pitch, "I'm friends with and coached Tom Brady" is a pretty damn good one.
Has he recruited any big names?
What about his time at Auburn? Seems he just go fired from that job too.
have you seen some of the other prospects people are bringing up? haha, they don't seem much better...
What do you expect to find? Someone with a 198-3 record, young and up-and-coming, but loyal and stable.....oh and he needs to be from Virginia or at least vacationed there as a child?
There are a lot of reasons why teams have bad seasons, not just the OC.
Everyone was enamored with Pep, but he had his bad seasons too. Between 2003 & 2005 while with the Jets, they went 6-10, 10-6 and THEN 4-12!! The next year with the 49ers, he was 7-9. The bears went 7-9, 9-7 & 7-9 with him. So really the only time he has really had a winning record was with Stanford unless you want to go back to his Howard days.
Scot Loeffler seems to be well respected by QBs and has some great connections. He was on staff for the Wolverines undefeated 1997 National Championship team. During 2002-2007 Michigan went 10-3, 10-3, 10-3, 7-5, 11-2, & 9-4 (pretty darn good). AT FLorida he went 13-1 & 8-5. Temple went 9-4.
I can't help but think maybe Long as a QB coach and Loeffler as an OC. I could think of one worse combination pretty easily. He did run an offense that rushed for 230+ yards a game at Temple of all places. His type of offense fits the programs mentality, I can't get too excited but I still trust that Frank isn't an idiot and knows what is best, and no matter if we believe it or not he's a fierce competitor and losing is not something he likes. Also Urban Meyer is a big fan of Frank and probably someone Frank trusts as well so if he has said good things Frank probably considers that good info. Maybe I am wrong but I keep trying to be positive.
UNLEASH THE JUMP PASS.
Who?
GO PATS!!
The more I think about it, the more I don't dislike Loeffler as a candidate. The Brady connection is gold to recruits, and potentially so is the Tebow one (like it or not, but the guy is in the NFL and is on ESPN 24/7). The fact that he's worked with a number of NFL QB's could help to push Logan back to Blacksburg next year. He's still young (only 38...not a huge deal but he's still got time to learn and grow) and had a very good year at Temple in 2011. While his offense sucked at Auburn in 2012, he was coaching guys that were recruited to play a completely different type of system.
He's certainly not perfect, but there is no perfect candidate out there, either.
Its better than Long. Tebow played (better yes but...) in a similar style to what we wanted to do with Logan this year so that might be promising, so we know he can work with an inaccurate passer. Yea he crashed and burned in the nfl, but I don't think saban blew anyone away during his time in the nfl either. College and the nfl game are different. Yes he wouldn't be my first (or second) choice, but I think he'd be an upgrade over both Long and stinespring
Yes.
He was completely unheralded out of college, and was still a nobody when he took over for an injured Bledsoe.
And Chad Henne, well, he's Chad Henne.
And being on the coaching staff of the 0-16 Lions isn't too encouraging either, same with being the OC of the 3-9 Auburn Tigers....
There are a lot of things I don't like about this guy at first glance, but maybe there's something there. I don't know.
Edit:
Just reread it, says he was a GA that "worked with" Brady, he wasn't the QB coach or anything, so he wasn't directly responsible for Brady's under-the-radar status, but my opinion still stands based on his other history.
