I'll add something to the rant. If there's any truth to the rumor that Stinespring is going to be kept on the staff, that's a total travesty. You can't move on with that guy still on the staff. It's a recipe for dysfunction. Just make a decision and go with it.
Same coach who wouldn't take accountability for the fake punt in the Sugar Bowl ("Danny Coale kick/pass option hemm hawww") and didn't say a word about putting Journell in an impossible position this year. Personal accountability has not been a Beamer strong suit the last couple of years.
Because JJ is more focused on getting ACC-caliber players that fit into his system than just going out and offering players just for for the sake of numbers. Not saying Juco doesn't have potential recruits, but JJ wanted to save his scholarships for players he really wanted in my opinion.
Why didn't we hit the JUCO ranks in the offseason to fill all of our scholarship holes?
Yeah the losses had to be getting in their heads at this point. Hopefully they can get back on track a bit now
i think the team needed this from a moral standpoint. so many losses in a row has to kill a team. hopefully this is the start of getting them back on track
Unless throwing the ball at the ground somehow pisses off the Alabama defense, I don't think Logan will give them fits.
Green is arguably the best transition scorer in the NCAA. Everyone else is struggling though. Brown keeps forcing his little runner which isn't working and he is turning the ball over a lot. Raines can't score to save his life. He needs to get more physical. Barksdale has gotten better since being benched but still needs to play up to his size. Eddie has struggled shooting and when Eddie struggles, we struggle. He is usually our 3 point go to and hasn't been the last few games. I did like the zone though. We don't run it enough. I remember one instance where Brown went to double team the ball and left Udofia open for a 3 that he drained late in the game. I feel like the past few years we've been such a streaky team. When Green and Eddie are making shots, we are hard to beat. But when we shoot the 3 ball only 20%, we get worked. I hope we can get back on track shooting with everyone. We'll need it coming up. Erick Green can't do it himself
JVZ is so soft. I think he has the potential to be a good center but he doesn't finish anything strong. Raines has really turned it on since JJ got pissed at him a couple games ago. Erick Green is just a machine and should get serious consideration for ACC POY.
How reliable is Coaching Search? Seems legit but I have only just started checking out his site.
Had the story up today- as a Jets fan I love the interest especially since he has been around our franchise and runs the a power running game. I would've rather seen him at VT but apparently the Jets and Raiders have shown strong interest since he was linked to interviewing with Tech (beat writers kept mentioning him and Cam Cameron). Really not surprising- NFL job offers more exposure for a potential HC candidate and he will make more money in NY. It must also be mentioned of Rex doesn't survive the season there is a great chance he would be named interim HC (though I doubt WJ fires Rex in-season: not his past MO). I hope we bring him in but like I said, I would've rather seen him at Tech.
Can we have one year where our team is not decimated by injuries?
Anyone who says that they wouldn't care if Logan left for the NFL should step back and take a look at what that would leave us. It would leave us with a quarterback who has not started ONE game his entire career at Tech starting against the Alabama Crimson Tide, reigning national champions. Logan, on the other hand, has played in many big games (big conference games) and one BCS bowl game (it was a fucking catch) that we should have won. With a good QB coach this off-season, Logan could give the Alabama defense fits. He can only get better.
Wasn't able to watch the game, but it sounds like we finally played like we should, aside from Jarell Eddie and Robert Brown's continued shooting woes. Hopefully we carry this into next week.
Just checked coaching search, They are reporting:
"Sources tell me that Syracuse offensive line / recruiting coordinator Greg Adkins will join the Virginia Tech staff."
This was a very exciting game... I'm glad we came out on top of it. Going 0-3 to start conference play would have been devastating. As you said, we have two winnable games coming up in Wake and #LOLUVA... Also, having the full week of rest and getting Marshall Wood back will do wonders for our team just by having the depth back alone.
GO HOKIES! LET'S TURN THIS THING AROUND!
ACC network...you suck
A lot of California, some Georgia. Then random recruits in TN, OH, VA, IL and NY. He got a kid from Ashburn last year. Hes from Niteo, WV. He may have been the premiere recruiter for TN.
Out of pure coincidence, I ran into a guy who I don't frequently talk to but trust fully. All he would/could say is that change is definitely happening and will be announced by mid-week. He alluded to some offers being out now, and said he was pretty certain we'll have better play calling and line play next year.
All this does for me personally is to put the notion of "no change" to bed 100% (instead of 95%), so I guess it won't do much at all for anyone else.
And so concludes my first and last "source" post.
Hopefully someone that will kick their asses this spring and fall. If the coaches don't, Bama sure will.
I think that Greg Adkins may be Oline.
Just a thought with all of this talk....Isn't Va Tech as a public university suppose to post all Job Openings and allow time for a candidate search even if they have the candidate?
Lets get an OC with a system and have him bring position coaches in to get players coached up.
We thought Pep would be a good fit because of his Northern VA connections where is his base?

Just hilarious! !
