If you have xfinity it's 5 or 805
It should either be on "My 20" or Fox 5
The season is winding down, moral is low and the Hokies are struggling big time. Well not big time, just a few missed plays here and there and some poor execution. But alas the wins are few. I am even going to sleep into to roughly 8:00am and watch the game at home. On to the picks, hopefully I can execute.
Bruins - I think the Trojans can cover this easy but the 1:58 mark of the Undie Run video seals my pick of the Bruins.
Red Raiders - I hear big spread with high scoring teams, take the points. Or maybe it was the opposite, whatevs.
Buckeyes - Braxton > Montay/Montee/Mantai/Manatee or whatever he is calling himself these days.
JMU - All I know is I drove by JMU stadium last Thursday so I am going with them. I will definitely check this game out though.
Baylor - An unbeaten is losing and I think it KState.
Ducks - Stanford's D is good but the Ducks wear you down.
Beer of the week is still to be decided. Holiday beers are out and a wise man once said if holiday beer is available then get them so I will be hitting up a local ghettomart tomorrow to pick up a few.
Go Hokies!
Pretty sure that's cause we suck. All I'm really hoping for is a 3:30 vs UVA so I can watch the Mich-OSU game too
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, no way. Damn.
thank you.
If you have Cox Cable in NOVA, it will be channel 20.
I don't know the exact channel you're looking for (since I live in Florida) but I believe it comes on one of the local channels like Fox? Sorry I couldn't help more.
Anyone know what channel the game is on in Northern Virginia? Its the first game of the year I will be watching from home and I don't know what channel ACC network is typically carried on.
Hermitage lost tonight to LC Bird in the playoffs... my dad was at the game giving me updates, and from his perspective Green was largely ineffective. Caveat: he scored two touchdowns pretty much on the goal line, but was pretty quiet otherwise. I don't have any official stats, so take second-hand results with a grain of salt. According to my father, he couldn't really get much going since the Bird defense was keying on him and making sure other players had to beat them.
Being a Hermitage alum, I hope he does well at the next level, though I've heard he has maturity issues that may hamper him. I'd be glad to be proven wrong however. I've seen a lot of good football players come from my high school, with Duane Brown being the most notable. In fact, VT has had a few Hermitage guys come through the program: Tweedy and Duan Perez-Means currently, and Ju-Ju Clayton as well, before he left the team.
Fun story about Duane... I was a freshman his senior year in high school and he was in band, we both played saxophone. Obviously he didn't play with the marching band during football games, but he did march in a couple of competitions, only a few people away from me. It was hilarious to see a man that big with an alto sax, it seemed so tiny in his hands.

It's Friday, yet THIS makes my day better
It's not his fault, he had to hit The Corner later with his bros from the Club LAX Team and he didn't have time to change....
It's definitely not an indicator of whether a team is "good" or "bad"...more just a personality thing.
The standard deviation thing is interesting, because the two (along with the variation in your opponents abilities which is not reported) are mathematically tied. Assuming you play a variety of teams (as most do...you have easy opponents, average, and difficult ones), then in order to have a highly positive or negative covariance you would have to also have a pretty high standard deviation, because you're varying wither with or against your opponents abilities which are inherently varying (I have a graph demonstrating this).
Unfortunately they don't show the adjusted game scores mid-season, so we can't pick apart different performance but instead just have these summary statistics. But Kansas State has not been that consistent at all - their standard deviation is 14.
Assuming this is going to be on "ACC Network" (Raycom)? I hate 12:30 kicks... We've had like three times the amount of noon kicks this year as we have the last three seasons. No me gusta.
I agree with everything said in the post and above, and I think Tech comes out hungry and wins it. They want a chance to come back home with a bowl bid on the line against UVA. Hokies by 14.
Pretty cool statistic, but it undermines the truly dominant teams.
Oregon (4th most negative) and KSU (8th most negative) are dominating all teams, good and bad. But, because they're beating the good teams by 20+ and the bad teams by slightly more, they're achieving a high negative covariance. So, while an indicator of playing to your level's competition, negative covariance is also indicative of being completely dominant, regardless of competition.
VT is very close to zero, which is probably more to do with the lack of ability to play well on the road, regardless if the team is good or not.
You gotta hate the kid's luck. Sugar Bowl curse?
