I saw a picture of Derrick Green's visit to Auburn and they had him put a jersey on and hold the Heisman Trophy. I think it's safe to say, those kinds of things really stick out in a recruit's mind.
I didn't don anything Hokies for a while either, but football is my drug so I had to watch us the next week. And I was still in High. School for that game and had a long ride home to VA Beach. Didn't talk to anybody for days.
Thanks guys. Guess I shoulda figured that one from playing NCAA 13.
Also, it's true that the Heisman would be a great addition and attract more recruits, but often those winners aren't given the award for great team play. Some previous winners have received the Heisman simply for packing the stat sheet. If Logan can be a team player (which I have no doubt he will be) and pack the stat sheet, we will be looking at a very special season.
But here goes:
USC -7
NC State +3
Michigan State -7
Clemson -3 because of new coordinators for the (original) SEC Tigers
Bama -13 because Michigan ain't that good
GT +7.5
After Josh Morgan (i think, don't remember because I was so mad and refused to watch any replays) botched that onside kick I went silent. I knew it was over. We blew it again.
Soaking wet, I walked over 2.5 miles back to my apartment because I didn't want to be on bus surrounded by people. I didn't speak another word that night I was so pissed off. I refused to watch ESPN for days. I couldn't even watch football the following Saturday. I didn't wear any of my tech gear for about a week because it hurt too much to think about how we blew that game. Definite top 5 low point for me too.
USCe, NC State, Boise, Clemson, Bama, VT
Logan is a redshirt Junior, so he can come back for one more season after this year.
A Heisman winner would be the greatest single thing in the program's history. I would prefer a MNC, but it's not like it's one or the other. Current recruits are still pointing out how Vick went to VT and that it left an impression on them. He only finished 3rd in votes, so you can imagine a winner's potential impact on our legacy.
LT3's a redshirt junior. So, 2012 will be his 4th year in the program, but he'll have a 5th year of eligibility, if he chooses to use it, next season.
Honestly, I don't care about the hardware unless it's that pretty crystal ball. However, that said, I do believe a Heisman winner would be outstanding for the program.
Also, I hate McShay too. Historically, he always picks against us and I love when we prove him wrong 95% of the time.
Logan is a Senior, right? So he wouldn't be leaving early if he declared? All of the redshirting kinda throws me off sometimes.
However, he's right. Unless Logan gets seriously injured (please don't let that happen), I think NFL guys will be drooling over him. Even if he doesn't improve as much as he did last year (again I hope that doesn't happen) he'll still be projected as a first-round pick because of his size, arm strength, athleticism, and potential. Most NFL coaches see a talent and think, "I can mold that better than his college coaches."
If he has sensational season, there's a chance he and Barkley go one, and two, in some order. It's really too early to tell. Logan's in the mix though.
In other news, LT3 is 17th in a semi-accurate preseason Heisman poll: http://www.stiffarmtrophy.com/2012/08/29/pre-season-heisman-top-25/.
sure as hell will continue this year!
South Carolina
NC State
Boise State
Clemson
Alabama
Virginia Tech
South Carolina -7 at Vanderbilt - USCe is a dark horse in the MNC race. I think they handle business here, convincingly.
NC State vs Tennessee - Mike Glennon is talented, on a very solid well coached team, and plays in an offense that caters to his skill set. State. Meanwhile Tennessee is dismissing its best players, and its QB is throwing bottles at cars.
Boise State at Michigan State -7 Boise. I always pick against them. Now I won't, so they'll get smoked.
Auburn vs Clemson -3 I like Auburn here. No Sammy Watkins, inexperienced Clemson o-line, new defensive scheme, and I think AU is hungry after last year.
Alabama -13 vs Michigan -- PAWWWWWWWLLLLLLLLL (Alabama)
Georgia Tech at Virginia Tech -7.5 Hokies to win, Bees to cover. VT will have limited possessions, GT will make the most of their's.

South Carolina
NC State
Boise State
Clemson (far better QB)
Bama
Hokies (How dare you make me pick this game)
I feed a handful of TKP's at the ACC championship game last year. I made so much food we ended up feeding random Coeds as well.
vandy.
wolfpack.
sparty the spartan.
awwburn
roll tide roll.
ghagha teck.
Can only imagine. The collective groan in the stadium sounded like the death of ten thousand souls.
Here we go to start the season
Vanderbilt +7 = Vandy starting off the season right, Franklin was smart to leave Terps
NC State +3 = I think NCSU is going to be solid all season long and beat either Clemson or FSU this season
Michigan State -7 = MSU at home vs. a Moore/Martin less Boise State
Clemson -3 = Auburn is in upheaval with coordinators and just not a believer in Chizik. Think Clemson's offense and desire to rid itself of of OB diaster gets them through.
Michigan + 13 = That spread is too big, think Michigan loses by 10
Virginia Tech -7.5 = Think GT falls behind early and VT pulls away to win covering the spread.
In Atl at the time of the BC travesty. Decided to watch the game on the porch with a handful of fellow Hokies as the night was absolutely beautiful here (hated it for those of you in Blacksburg that night).
Anyway, about 10 minutes after the game, the (APD) cops showed up at our house with guns drawn. Apparently whichever of our neighbors called the police due to our screaming told the cops that "someone definitely got murdered at that [my] house." The cops quickly realized that the sound of murder that our neighbors heard was really Matt Ryan driving a goddamn stake through our team's heart.
Top 5 lowest moments in my life, yet is still hilarious to look back on.
Anyway, bring on the rain!
If I win the worst record this year is there anything in it for me?
Cocks -- Connor Shaw has already gained xp, Lattimore is legit, and im sure the D will reload
NC State -- I wont be surprised if this thing goes into the high 20s for both teams, Amerson and Co will make the difference though
Boise St -- Donkey Face is gone but they'll cover.
Clemson -- Auburn curb stomping UVA in a bowl isnt convincing enough
'Bama -- Our Defense tied up "Shoelaces" for 13 yards on 13 carries. They don't have a prayer
GT -- Only for the points. Each year we've gained bigger leads through a few big plays/injury. if we attack them with speed instead of chewing the clock playing keep away we'll suffer Clemson's fate.
BOTW: Flying Dog Double Dog IPA...had two last night and at 11.5%abv they were a doozy
Still baffles me how Adibi lost coverage on Callender... It turned my stomach every time they showed the highlights on SportsCenter for like the next 3 days. But I couldn't look away.
and Jeff Jagodzinski running down the sideline like a buffoon. I was always told "Act like you've been here before." It was quite obvious he hadn't.
Still bad memories about that one... Freezing cold rain, the negated touchdown that looked like our receiver (Royal, Morgan?) got his foot down, and of course that second TD. All of the air went out of the stadium... Such a heartbreak.
But it made kicking their asses by two scores in the ACCCG at the end of the year THAT much sweeter.
'Dores - Vandy will shock some teams this year, just not USC
'Pack - The Vols lose simply because of the orange pants
Sparty - Without Moore, Boise is beatable, I think
Clemson - Clemson in a close one, and expect them to be overrated after week 1 and catapulted into the top 10
ROW TIDE - Everyone saw what VT did to all-world Denard *cough*, so multiply that by a factor of 10 and BAMA rolls by 17+
Gobblers - I hate GT simply because they ALWAYS play us tougher than anyone, even their rival Georgia. VT wins by a td, Exum decapitates a B-back, and the CHUCK-N-TRUCK is in full effect.
TECH TECH VPI!

Vandy to cover, not win.
NC State wins outright
Michigan St gives the 7. Screw Boise.
Auburn wins outright
Michigan covers. Not convinced of Bama this year.
VT wins by 14. Paul Johnson cries.
