and fuck clemson
Didnt the Dan Rather story say he had a 3.something GPA? I assumed he was attending NOVA CC isnt that good enough to get you into Tech these days? Maybe he was taking the wrong classes. Either way if he truly wanted to come to Tech he would have gotten his Associate's.
Its dissapointing I was really looking forward to rooting for this dude.
Daniel I thank you for your service, am in awe of your courage, and wish you luck in the future, but I hope we thump your Tigers.
Fuck Clemson
Go Hokies
This may be the reason we miss on big recruits. We don't make exceptions for anyone while other schools will. At least it appears we won't treat players as any more special than others.
Tend to agree it all seems a little over-hyped and internet "viral". Will see how it all turns out.
Funny how the Clemson faithful are jumping on the bandwagon and saying things like he exemplifies the "underdog spirit" of Clemson. I've never thought of Clemson as a "underdog". I guess that is what they are using in their recruiting pitch.
As a veteran myself, I feel like I can say this. I don't think that anything that Rodriguez has done should be overlooked. His service and sacrifice to our country is huge and I salute him ...
... BUT ...
it seems (to me) that he's used his story and the media as leverage a little too much and put pressure on VT, for the attention, to cut corners. I'm sure that they told him what HAD to be done and he chose to take the easier road. So be it but that completely contradicts what he claims to be about. That being said, it was obviously more important to play D1 football ASAP for him instead of playing for VT .. and that's fine.
Good luck to you Daniel .. See you on the field
nice
Our locker room has lacked heart the majority of the Butch Era and all of last year. I feel like our "highly touted" (i say that cautiously)players need a kid like this walking around the locker room. It scares me to death wondering what will happen if Clemson's players bring it each and every play, the way I believe Mr. Rodriguez will. A player like Rodriguez always rubs off on other teammates.
I wish the kid the best of luck. Not many people the same age as myself(22) have brought the honor and service to our country the way he did. I wish him the best of luck.
If it means we get a dozen 5 star recruits I would be okay with it.
Flat-footed Tigers.

His grades must be something awful for Tech to just walk away without petitioning the NCAA for a waiver.
I love the kid's heart and I know, more than most, the sacrifices he's endured. But there is a flipside, a world in which academic requirements very much have a part to play. How many kids blessed with ungodly talent have to go to FUMA or Hargrave in order to qualify? How many don't even make it that far?
I wish him the best in life but I'm don't think the NCAA cuts him a waiver. It's a monster human interest story for sure. How many guys leave the military after combat and fade into unemployment, homelessness, depression and suicide? Daniel's a good kid and I'm sure he will excel, but it might not be on the gridiron.
Still didn't leave disappointed.
There is nothing stylish about a giant cartoon bird.

It looks like David Wilson is a fan of the cartoon helmets.

I'm really going to miss facing Jacory Harris every year with Miami.
And I'll miss posting this.

BC: They gave Kevin Rogers (who I'll always have an inexplicable soft spot for) a raw deal. I hope they flouder into discombooblement for a long time. Spaz may be a good Xs and Os guy but he has 0 clue how to run a program.
Duke: Meh. Beat someone besides the dregs of the ACC (Wake, BC, UVa) and then come talk to me.
Cincy: I had a guinea pig named Munchie when I was 8. My dad mixed human medicine into melted butter when he got sick. He is now buried in the back yard.
Miami: Pretty excited to see Miller, Benjamin and Spence leaving.
Thanks for the update, joe.

to see who are the 4 corners playing in the Spring game this year. For DBU, VT is stretched really thin in the backfield this year.
about the female kicker Lauren Luttrell that Beamer said he would try out in the spring. That will be something interesting watch. Maybe she's the answer to VT's kicker's problems. Seems to have a much better shot at making the team than Journell...
He's committed to ECU, but the ACC schools, including Tech, are starting to recruit him.
Moss, a 6-foot-3, 217-pound linebacker, gave ECU coach Ruffin McNeill his pledge Feb. 24, after spending the day on campus in Greenville.
"They showed him around and talked football with him," Northeastern coach Antonio Moore said. "They had told us he was an 'offer' kid, but I think they wanted to check him out in person. They were sure they wanted him visiting with him, and made him a first (scholarship) offer.
"I think he liked what they had to say and how he fits into their defense, so he went ahead and committed to them."
East Carolina was the first school to offer Moss, but North Carolina, N.C. State, Virginia and Virginia Tech have also been showing interest. Moore said Moss will visit other schools, despite his commitment to the Pirates.
Moss, who has 4.61-second speed in the 40-yard dash, became a varsity starter during his sophomore season when Northeastern advanced all the way to the state 2-AA finals. He was an All-Northeastern Coastal 2-A/ 3-A Conference selection last season when he made 107 tackles, eight tackles for loss and three sacks.
Great points.
I think the way it's written indicates pretty clearly that if the other team rips your helmet off, you don't have to go off.
And it makes me wonder if this could hurt Exum long term. Birdman gets moved to corner and did well at VT but the NFL projected him as a safety and he looked lost out there. I know they're different players but it makes me wonder that while it may be the best move for us it may not be best move for him.
It's not often you see guys move from safety to corner. Usually it's the other way around. My alma mater tried it this past season and the converted safety was lit up most of the year. I think ultimately you're going to see these guys move around a lot throughout the year and if someone like Manning can get up to speed quickly he could push for playing time.
this for the night I definitely see the idea of getting the 4 best dbs on the field at once. Have to think Foster likes the pressure the front 7 has the ability to create will matching that with his 4 best playmakers on the back end.
Most college kickers would likely shank it out of bounds in an effort to pooch kick, IIRC.

I think he was just miffed that VT wasn't interested until he qualified, whereas CU was willing to hold his hand through the process. Not saying anyone is wrong or right. I certainly understand how he feels.
