i am insanely jealous of the amount of football knowledge you have bro. thanks for sharing and glad to have you on this board - the best us hokies have to offer.

carry on.

-coop.

i was definitely going with favorite, not best.

thanks for sharing.

I wouldn't argue with two teams from the same division going head-to-head for the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship because of the playoff system it has, but since there isn't one for football, it's not the same thing.
& How is "the Mountain West..ranked ahead of the ACC"? In the BCS rankings, Boise Sate is ranked above both Virginia Tech & Clemson, each of which are ranked above TCU (notice both winners of the conference are ranked lower here, teehee)..seems pretty even to me. The Mountain West has had undefeated teams ranked below one-loss teams..that's because their wins don't mean as much because they play high school teams. So them being ranked above teams with the same record, doesn't necessarily mean they're better. Undefeated teams in a non-BCS conference, isn't as good as one-loss teams in a BCS conference. Boise State couldn't even win the Mountain West. TCU has two losses, one to SMU..by seven..in overtime..I guess I can't quite wrap my head around why anyone would be crying for the Mountain West right now...

when it first came out. Thanks for bringing it back to light. Very great info!

For grammatical errors. Put this out in 10 minutes while at home for lunch. The finished product will be much cleaner. Im basically just asking to dig up info.

1.) Ben Taylor - kid was a beast and played hard
2.) Corey Moore - "Welcome to the Terror Dome!"
3.) Michael Vick - I still get giddy when I watch his Tech highlights
4.) Lee Suggs - dude had a TD in every game in which he played!
5.) Cols Colas - For a small DE he was a beast with 14.5 sacks in 2 seasons. Plus, I sat beside him in a Math class. He was hilarious and it was fun watching him hit on a hot volleyball chick for a semester.

I also don't have much to say about the offensive line, except...

Dear O-Line,

Guys, what happened last week? I'm not talking about the game, because I saw what happened there. No-no, what I'm talking about is what exactly did you do from Sunday morning after the UVa game until the first snap of the ACCCG? Did you maybe hit the film room? Did you hit the weight room? Did you hit the books? Did you FUCKING HIT ANYTHING all week?! Because from my seat, it sure looked like you must've hit the buffet at about 7pm and called it an early fucking night. Yes, Dietrick Bonner basically played the worst game humanly possible on defense. And yes, we got jobbed on a handful of obvious calls. But, Bonner's a redshirt-Freshman, this is the AC-fucking-C, we're gonna get jobbed on calls! Our refs suck shit and always have! Either way, none of that matters. What matters is that during this season, you've either played as a cohesive unit that aids in VT having an above average offense - or - you've played as an incompetent band of assholes hell-bent on fisting this program into Wake Forest-esque obscurity! You are better than that! You have no excuse to be phoning it in during the biggest game of the season!

I'm getting so sick and tired of people calling us the "Jokies" or the "Chokies" because of your mediocre, shitstain performance in the big games. The offense starts with you. The offense finishes with you. The blood is on your hands. Make it right.

That's some really nice work. On my desktop now.

We were not pleased with that play. Denard is adored by most of the Michigan fan base and we were displeased that Ghoulston was not ejected from the game. Ghoulston also had another personal foul called for punching one of our offensive lineman (Lewan) in the throat during that game. Needless to say, when Denard was asked about it after the game he only would say, "Football is a dirty game."

When we played a Big 12 team (Texas) in the Sugar Bowl. No one expected us to win. It was a program defining win for the good guys.

The D was fired up after that bad call. Wished they could have sustained that anger the rest of the 2nd half.

I just love now that people forget they lost to NC State in a nasty game. Got beat by GA Tech a team we beat by 11 and lets not forget all the points dropped on them by Maryland etc...Anyone can get up for a game or two looks at Boise State. Now that i have cooled down about the game I think the game told us more about a young emotional Clemson team then it does about VA Tech. Lets not forget we were tied going into half time. I still think record wise and I am not saying this to make us feel better we are still the class of the ACC. I can't wait for the Sugar Bowl and then for next season. Logan Thomas and the young recievers make me really excited. The O-line and HBs will be a concern.

I hate articles you can't comment on... :-\

Screw kornheiser & the complete moron he was talking w/ yesterday. Neither Baylor nor TCU is ranked above the Hokies because Baylor's lost three games & TCU isn't in a big boy conference (they lost to Southern Methodist..by seven..in overtime..How impressive!) No one said Virginia Tech was on the same level as LSU/Alabama & not a person in this PLANET has EVER said we were a "lock" to win the National Championship. I think that delusional idiot had us confused with Notre Dame. Boise State couldn't even win the Mountain West!
Stinespring's gotta go. He's a complete cancer to our program.

Unfortunately, I agree with you. I realize Virginia Tech gets a lot of respect for playing "kindly" and taking a knee on the opponent's 20 yard-line, but I think Beamer needs to let off the brakes juuust a tad. The blow-out's are what gets noticed & we need to get noticed.

1. MV1 - still don't think I've seen a CFB player as exciting, plus what he indirectly did for the school
2. Corey Moore - another player that teams could not stop, ultimate competitor
3. Lee Suggs - the offense has changed so that has affected the current, great RBs we've had, but I just loved his running style
4. Jake Grove - I want an O-line consisting of 5 of his clones
5. Tyrod - his career speaks for itself

Honorable Mentions - I'm right there with D99Hokie above - Xavier Adibi, Andre Davis, Eddie Royal, Cody Grimm, Danny Coale, Brandon Flowers, Darren Evans, Ryan Williams, Willie Pile, and I'll just stop there because I could add at least 25 more

What bothers me a little bit about Boise State is they hold out a helping hand and expect it to be filled. Every up and coming program, that's now an anual winner, has built their reputation and earned respect by winning games over a long sustained period of time. I'm not saying Boise State hasn't had a fantastic program, but they've only been playing in I-A since 1996. In the grand scheme of things they're still a small school, a young program with a small number of fans, in a terrible conference. They win a lot of games, and eventually if they continue to win and invest into their program they could be as appealing to the bowls as a Florida or Ohio State. Those schools have been in business for a longer period of time, and as such they have better partnerships (conferences) that have negotiated more lucrative deals with bowls.

Success on the field has less to do with what bowl games teams go to than the money they bring in. It's not "fair", but it is what it is. I definitely understand your point that the MSM is overlooking the Florida-Ohio State scenario, and they are also overlooking 7-5 Western Kentucky not going to a bowl while 6-7 UCLA is.

Boise State doesn't have to participate in the BCS, they could go out and strike their own deal. They can try to be more successful in upgrading to a better positioned conference. It's a free country. As much as they think they're special, they're not. They're going to have to take the same long road every other school has traveled, or is traveling, to get to the top of the mountain.

I've been to New Orleans many many times, so if anybody has questions or needs suggestions just let me know and I can probably help out. I'm not 100% sure yet if I'm going to the game, but would love to meet up if I do.

i don't necessarily agree with Wetzell basically because I think the Sugar Bowl people do actually like us. We have a history with New Orleans and will bring tons of people and money down there. Honestly, I've never been to Miami, but would take the chance to go to NOLA over south beach any day of the week.

I absolutely love that Frank is not backing down or appologizing for this. Him and Bill did a good job on the Hokie Hotline (refuse to call it TTL) last night laying out the case of why we deserve this game. Its the overall body of work of our program over the past 10+ years. The SEC or the media may not like it, but we are the winningest team in all of college football since 1995, the ONLY team in the country with 10 wins the past 8 years, one of only 3 teams to go to 19 straight bowl games, and we have the winningest coach in all of college football (think i have all that right). Like Bill said last night, if you get away from the media elite in the northeast, people across the country more than respect our program. We were told in 95 that we had no business being in the Sugar Bowl, and we ended up beating mighty Texas. We had the lead over Bama in the 4th quarter, and the lead over FSU in the 4th quarter in the national title game, and we were oh so close to beating an Auburn team that should have played for the championship. I know this has all been said before, but it made me feel good typing it all out again.

Tony Kornheiser yesterday called us a flawed program that will NEVER be elite. I'd love to make that smug asshole eat his words. While everybody has layed out the case of why we deserve to be here, we do NEED to win this game. We need to make a big statement in a big bowl game like in 95. I've felt this way in the past, but I honestly believe our coaches will have this team more than prepared to handle business.

Its also nice to be playing a team like Michigan where I can't think of any reason to hate their team or fans (now that Dick Rod is gone).

The BCS is about #1 vs #2. That is all. They got it 75% right this year...meaning LSU was a clear #1 and you could make a strong argument for Alabama (and OSU.) If the two best teams end up in the same conference, or even same division, then that's the way it shakes out. (How many times in March Madness have teams from the same conference met in the Final 4 or Championship game!) Take the first game away and both are undefeated and clear 1 & 2. As it was, the game went to OT. I'm not defending the BCS in any means, but the beauty is that every game still matters. If OSU hadn't lost in double OT, they would have been in there. In a 4 or 8 team playoff, that game doesn't matter as much. Ask Boise how much they would love to have that kick back... He make that kick, they are undefeated and in the race (or at least a BCS lock instead of shut out, AGAIN).

The thing I don't agree with is that we have #11 playing #13 in one of the biggest bowls, and biggest $$$$ payouts, of the year. Don't get me wrong, I'll take it, but with the Mountain West being ranked ahead of the ACC, how the heck did we get 2 teams in???? And how did the B1G get 2 in???? Mo money for us, but I agree with Petersen, the system is not good.
