Big ol' donkey cock!
Obviously, Tech needs to be 100% focused on beating uva and then clemson, but thats up to the coaches and players and not us fans. Based on what I've seen from David Wilson and Josh Oglesby on twitter the past few days, I don't think the focus on beating uva will be an issue.
As for us fans, I think we obviously need to pull for Auburn over Alabama and Oklahoma over Okie State. In the LSU-Arkansas game, I think we need to cheer for LSU to win big and drop Arkansas out of the top 4. It would be nice if Notre Dame could knock off Stanford, but I don't see that happening. I don't know how the divisions work in the PAC 12, would Stanford play Oregon for the championship? If thats the case, an Oregon win would be nice as I don't see them jumping us from 10th.
As excited as I was yesterday when I realized we could back ourselves into the national championship, the bottom line is the only thing we can control is beating uva and clemson, so lets enjoy the rest of the season and let the cards fall where they may. GO HOKIES!
Has no rules. Two teams enter, one team leaves. They burn libraries and cause earthquakes in this game. Everything goes.
As for the deserving...there is a lot of football left. Remember 2 days ago? A lot can change on a Saturday afternoon. The etch artist hasn't even started skrawling anything yet...
Miami was (is) the sweetest victory. Stems from being there from 92-97 when the Big East was hatched. The Maryland fans are terrible, and given I have to listen to their constant whining about the officiating and other auxiliary bs, beating them is always a huge bonus.
But beating the Hoos is like beating up on your little 5 year old brother in cards. They just don't quite get the whole jist, and are just happy to be there sometimes. Given that THIS game matters, we can't sleep on them.
No way I see that happening. So I'm not counting on VT getting in the Championship.
What I really would like to see is Arkansas beat LSU, then I think the chaos will really begin. How will the pollsters rank Bama Arkansas and LSU then? And better yet, the pollsters will decide WHO will get to go to the SEC championship game (which may or may not be ideal...). The tiebreaker will go to the top ranked team in the BCS rankings, UNLESS the team that beat them head-to-head is within 5 spots in the BCS rankings. As it is shaping up, this will GUARANTEE the top ranked BCS team WILL NOT play in their conference championship.
Then question becomes, if the SEC West team that goes to the SEC championship wins, will the pollsters change their ranking from the previous week? How will they decide which SEC team(s) get into the championship game?
And the worst part of the BCS system is one of these teams won't even get to play in a BCS game, due to the BCS rules which only allows 2 teams from one conference in the BCS games. (I think they changed this rule, starting 2012-2013 season...)
If Arkansas beats LSU, we will have a scenario of THREE SEC teams (likely ranked 1-3 in the BCS rankings) that deserve to go to the SEC championship game, but only one will. Only two of the teams will get to the BCS Championship game. And one team won't even play in any BCS game. And all this won't be decided on the field, but by putting a number next to a team...
only has ND left, which they should win... Stanford is currently 7 pt favorites.
An unlikely scenario: If Oregon State beats Oregon, then Stanford will play Utah, UCLA, or ASU in the PAC-12 championship game. I don't think Stanford would lose that game...
It may not matter, as VT's strength of schedule is currently and should still be better than Stanford's. If Clemson beats South Carolina, and VT wins out, they will most definitely be ahead of Stanford. If South Carolina stomps on Clemson, then it may get real dicey...
Tie break at that point (assuming Bama beats Auburn, so they are all 1-loss teams, only losses to each other) is BCS standings. Not really any help there predicting.
Lsu beats Arkansas handily Friday
Oklahoma beats Boone t Pickems U
Auburn beats Alabama
Hokies crush Hoos
hokies crush Clemson
Stanford some how loses again
Lsu wins SEC champ game
Hokies Tigers Round 3 I'm January
As far as these rankings go, they don't matter. Our game is a one game season. Win or go home. The only game that matters is our game against UVA. That is what Virginia Tech can control: the outcome of the UVA game. We must be focused entirely on UVA and nothing else. That is our season.
If we go to the Orange Bowl and face the Big East champion, it's almost a lose-lose situation (aside from the obvious monetary benefits...). The current Big East leaders are Rutgers and Louisville. Win that game and it impresses no one. Lose that game...
rather play and at least have the opportunity to win an NC than just settle for an Orange Bowl. In college football it truly is all or nothing!!!
Have big-time games ahead...so I say let's root for Auburn and Oklahoma...
I'd also root for LSU over Arkansas, don't see any way the reverse helps us.
Clemson really screwed things up for the ACC...
As much as I want us to go to the National Championship Game, and I want it so bad, I feel that LSU or Alabama would embarrass us on a national stage. If we go to the Orange Bowl we can crush a Big East team and maybe make up for what happened last year.
It could happen again.
I have only one comment
Herbstreet blows donkey cock.
First he rip us for not playing anybody, then tells us that Alabama should be considered because of tradition WTF is that?
Great video and all I have to add is, hide your wife, hide your kids, hide your husbands cause LT3 is rapin all Wahoos on Saturday. Also, I would love to see Logan truck Mike London.
I hope you meant white-collar and not white color.
Yes, I did, I had spotted it before I published but I guess it didn't save. That's what I get for writing at 1:00 - 3:30 AM.
Stanford does not necessarily have to lose to ND. Barring an Oregon loss to the Beavers, next weekend will be Stanford's last chance to make an impression. ND barely beat BC this weekend, although many idiot voters still treat them like a ranked team perennially no matter what they do.
I think the key game will be the Alabama-Auburn game. I'm sure the Tigers would like nothing more than to cost their in-state rival a trip to the BCS Championship. We need to be pulling for Auburn hard!
If Arkansas beats LSU we could be in trouble as well because that would create a 3-way tie in the SEC best if Alabama wins (I'm not sure what the tie breaker is) so at least one of those teams would have somewhat of an argument against being left out, having beat one of the teams in the national title game.
The game I think we cannot ignore is a big win in Bedlam by the Cowboys. That could enable them to jump back bye us to play in the big one.
No matter what, as joe said in his story, we need to take care of our own business and just see what happens. If we beat UVA and Clemson we will be in a great place and I will be happy going to New Orleans or Miami.
Don't forget to supplement Colin Cowherd with this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1YKxNyVWig
Let's see...Stanford has to loose to ND...possible...not likely, but possible. (I could stick a diatribe in here about how I hate to root for ND, but I won't)
LSU/Ark....Somebody has to loose, right?
Bama/Auburn....Bama would have to loose....again, not likely, but plausible.
Just for good measure, and just to make sure nobody jumps us, OkState would have to loose to the Sooners.
The probability of all the above happening, provided we win our next two?.....ranks right up there with lightning striking any given individual, if not more so. But who thought 4 out of the top 8 would loose this weekend, either? Here's to chaos!
dang wahoos messed me up (*&^%$!!!)
To accurately predicting the outcome of the FSU UVA game....but then FSu missed the field goal
In two years that this has happened is it not?
I hope you meant white-collar and not white color. But it is great that the VT-UVA game finally means something, outside of pride. So let the hate continue!
One reason to hate UVA is that the university had to set up a video begging students to come back for the game after Thanksgiving. An in-state rivalry for a shot at the ACCCG and you actually have to ask fans to not forget to go to the game?! ARE YOU SERIOUS BRO?!
I'm going to pass the time during my week by listening to Colin Cowherd rant on UVA.

My hatred of UVA cannot be matched, except of course by the feelings I possess towards Miami (funny- I was accepted there for undergrad but still possess a personal loathing for their existence). It really stems more from fans than any singular event on the field. Growing up in Richmond all I heard about was how Tech players were a bunch of no good thugs and would never have the qualities possessed by UVA players or coaches and how VT was a remedial school. From a young age my dislike of UVA formed, even when I didn't care about college sports. Funny how this works out because apparently you just have to possess the most basic cognitive processes to qualify as a football player at UVA (see Moses).
I know that the UVA fanbase, like ours and any other school's, possesses a few bad eggs and that I just happened to be exposed to some of them in my youth. I know Mike London has done a hell of a job repairing the damage done by Al "I love Bellicheck and Parcells' balls" Groh (though I do think that London is saddled with an Administration which will never truly allow UVA to compete in football on a perennial basis and will be the reason he eventually bolts for a much better job, such as the Ohio State job if Meyer turns it down and Fickle is let go). I really hope UVA does well and the game becomes pertinent again much like it will be on Saturday. That being said I never want the game to be close. The last ten years have allowed Tech to open a gap in competition and I personally love going into the game feeling that we should win from beyond a 'fan' standpoint. My worst memory of a VT/UVA game was 2007 when they had the lead for seven minutes. My favorite was watching Marcus Vick systematically destroy their defense, pride, and begin the slide which cost Groh his job. Also Randall hitting Hyman for six and a goal line stand in 2004. All due respect to TJ's University, but I loved seeing that orange 'T' painted next to the V and crossed sabers.
