My boss is a Hoo, and a great guy at that. However, this past season has been especially trying for me. After UVa won on Saturday, I guess he decided to become a football fan for the first time this year as evidenced by his newly purchased UVa windshirt. Sad thing is that I know when we beat the dogshit out of UVA on Saturday, he'll again become a semi-interested UVa basketball fan and not talk about football ever again, thus not giving me the satisfaction of gloating over our 8th straight against the Hoos. Yet, if the unthinkable should happen and we drop this game, I'll never hear the end of it...and I just can't take that shit.
I'm used to this kind of thing with G(i)T fans down here in ATL, but seriously, I've never had to deal with this from the UVa crowd. Ugh, the smugness is unparalleled.
Go Hokies! Play your asses off. This is both the first and last game of the season...

I don't think Maddy has the has the high end potential like a Corey Marshall. He is a plugger, and is a perfect fit physically for what Bud Foster wants from his DT's in this scheme.
I do like a 3 man rotation (with Harley as the #4) at DT, with Marshall getting a look along with Collins, McCray, and Gayle at end. At Marshall's size, he could be a real handful. He has the best "pass rush" hands (ie, the ability to beat blockers using hand technique and leverage) of any Hokie defensive lineman. Concerns around his ability to execute his assignment and his alignment have been raised as the reason he hasn't played as much the last couple games.

If thats what it comes down to. Hell, look how Western Kentucky managed to stick around for an entire half, before a couple costly turnovers blew open the game? Logan is Much Better than AJ McCarron, and our recievers are a lot better than Bama's, and our defense is a bit stronger than Oregons. I Think we actually matchup pretty well against a team like LSU this year. Especially because it's a big game and you know that anything can happen in 60 minutes.
Although I can't honestly say I think we're one of the top 2 teams in the country this year, I'll always hope for the opportunity to make the NC game whether we deserve it or not.
Now let's stop fussing about this. It's too early and it's distracting. We need to take care of business and see what happens.

It's not out of the question, now that we don't have to count on Notre Dame beating Stanford... LSU will likely beat Arkansas this weekend (fingers crossed), Oklahoma has a pretty good chance of beating the Pokes...
The only upset we really need is going to be the hardest one to come by, like you said. Auburn beating Alabama... Somehow, after giving up 21 to Georgia Southern, I don't think the Crimson Tide are going to take anybody else lightly. Now, if Auburn could somehow borrow the GA So. playbook for a weekend and pull it off to perfection, we might have a game - cause that option gave 'Bama fits.
Of course, all of the above is void if we don't beat UVA and Clemson. (But I'm not expecting to lose.)

One thing I noticed Saturday night; FSU got awfully close to blocking a few of those rugby punts. I know Frank hasn't been his old Kick Blocking self however, FSU figured something out and were close at least twice to blocking one. If anyone can pick up on what FSU was doing and close the deal, it's Frank!
