I honestly think WVU should be ranked a bit higher (maybe 15-19) just because of Geno smith. With him as well as the fact that they may run the table in the Big East, I see them finishing the season within the top 15.
Also, not entirely sure why Stanford is still ranked so high after losing Harbaugh. Yes they have Luck and yes they dismantled us in the 2nd half of the Orange Bowl, but they also happend to lose their iron man Marecic and a couple of tight ends and OL. Which can add up to being a huge issue if not dealt with appropriately.
Just gave me the head nod "what up" action when he walked by me in Hahn. Good Start to the week.
Big speakers and a subwoofer are strongly recommended, haha.
hahahahhahahahahahahhaahahaaaa
I never knew 50 seconds of video on mute (I'm in class) could get me so pumped. Great video.

--Why, why, why do we continually anticipate this team as a top 25 year every year. They play USC, Missagain, Mich St, and Stanford this year. I cant see them winning more than 9.
-- Good call on Oklahoma, I smell a little bit of overhype. ill root for FSU but im sure they'll drop the ball against em.
--I think Texas in top 25 is more of a place holder. They shit the bed last year along with UF but I think the thought here is mediocrity isnt sustained for these two.
--UGA v Boise St will be the litmus test for both programs.
When I saw it yesterday my mouth dropped. Excellent work Dozer! Also, I think i most love this site because it exemplifies what it means to be a true Hokie fan. A little snarky, mostly fun, unconditional love for the team, and a dose of reality to make it all make sense. I hate lofty expectation paired with misunderstanding. Thanks for having us remember that Hokie Football is a special yet humbling experience.

Real quick and dirty... (Hate the one on the right but too lazy to do more)

Who will backup Miller at Center with Via out? Farris? Gentry? Would Nosal slide over?
Great read HokieJoe3 and insight into the state of Virginia Tech's ACC rivals. Hokiebonoz brought up the point that Miami doesn't consider VT a rival; however, I would argue that the FANS don't consider it a rivalry because they've won national championships but the PLAYERS consider it a rivalry. For example when you watch a telecast of a Miami/Virginia Tech game all the players on both sides say it is the biggest game of the year (aside from FSU/UF for Miami and UVA for VT) and was circled on the calendar as such. They use one another as measuring sticks for the remainder of the season. The scandal at UM is truly a shame in this way as well- this had developed into a great rivalry with so much on the line every year but now it may all be washed away in a 'hurricane' of epic proportions (sorry couldn't resist)
In terms of UVA I agree 100% that it is just a geographical rivalry now. Though London has done great things with recruiting and changing the atmosphere of the program (and some day the winning streak will end) I just don't see UVA ever being able to compete consistently with VT again due to the recent changes and new facilities- it all shows a dedication to the program by the University which doesn't exist over in hooville. We cannot forget that Groh had some incredible classes while in Charlottesville but nothing more than nine wins and mediocre bowl births ever developed. Unfortunately that trend may continue also because I would put my money on VT's coaching staff any day of the week and twice on Saturdays over London even if he had Parcells coaching up the D and the Hoddie coaching up LB's. Beamer is a better HC and Weaver/Steger/Alumni Associations will ensure the man to succeed Beamer will also be able to beat London consistently.
FSU....well we'll find out hopefully starting this year.
If it doesn't work, no harm no foul. Also the four games to start the year really allow us to ease into this transition.
My favorite NFL preseason ever. What an endorsement. Also great was John Harbaugh's quote, "Well, Tyrod, I would say he's made the team. Newsflash."
I think they're planning on significant snaps in the first half for the last game next week against Atlanta.
Whitley is going to call the plays from rover. Exum is faster, and that would but put more on display at free safety (where there is more space). I'm not sold on it yet, but Gray has the luxury of easily switching them back if it doesn't pay dividends.
The Michael Irvin head snortin' everything is hilarious!
I'm also wondering why the switch was made, seems like having a more experienced player (whitley) calling the defensive plays would be a smarter option....not really sure about this, especially since Exum seems to be more of a "hard hitter" and therefore maybe a little better suited for rover..
Really? What's that about? And why am I the first one asking this question...
Thank you. These Assbloods dont consider us to be rivals. I hate the amount of retardation that proliferates this fan base. Worse is WVU but you almost have to feel sorry for those mouth breathers. Elite? ELITE? ok 2001, you got me. Unfortunately more people cared about Eric Crouch getting the heisman along with a stiff arm by the NFL. Since the last of your heralded 5 championship rings you've done squat. Hell, the last time you got most of them cocaine was cool....I take that back. U still thought it was cool. Thats the real problem with the team and fans alongside them. Disparity between top talent and the rest is no longer that wide. SEE: VT since ACC expansion. I almost feel bad that they expect continual bowl wins and a NC each decade. Its not the talent, thats obviously there. Not even the coaching for that much either. Its the culture that school cultivates by 1) living in an era populated by Jansport fanny packs and 2) Everyone for themselves mentality. Why do they call it NFLU? uhhh because you recruit a 5 star kid more ready to leap frog to a lifestyle of tits and glam than mature into an actual adult. Nevin Shapiro sure did bring the NFL to daU though. If anything though I do like the competition and hope going forward that their cut of humble pie allows Golden to create a football team versus a collection of prima donnas waiting like guppies wide mouthed in a fish bowl.
You forgot about BC in "the rest." I still can't stand to hear a certain quarterback's name...
agreed
....last time VT lost there MySpace was cool.
And FSU. I'm just not buying it. I'm sure they're good, capable of beating us, and should be favored. But definitely shouldn't be an enormous favorite. They had to rely on Maryland to beat NC State last year in order to trip into the ACCCG. And we didn't just win that game, we dominated. I hope they beat OU, and I hope we meet again this year in the Queen City.

Hope to see JG playing in the Appy State backfield Sat......a lot!
