I have yet to be really impressed by Freelon. It seems like she is constantly in trouble with fouls.

Carleigh is Carleigh and is good for at least 3 WTF moments per game unfortunately.

I am looking forward to a lot of bench players getting time today.

Nope. Fuente chose friendship of Corny over continued employment. Either that, or he honestly thought Corny was doing all the right things. Either way, it wasn't going to work. Granted, I think he could be successful, but only in VERY specific circumstances, with the right players (see 2016 and to a slightly lesser degree, 2017). The big problem was not understanding what it was they needed to succeed, or not being able to adequately recruit it.

Yeah, my kids are five and (almost) three, and I'm very excited for Christmas this year and there is not one part of it that would be improved by having an elf.

I do not care if Mickey Mouse is calling plays, defensively or offensively, as long as we are winning and recruiting at a high level.

There is no reason in this new era of football, see Indiana, why a team in sleepy SW Virginia can't play with the big boys.

Open up that BAG!!!

Wonder if he still would have chosen Corn (or at least fired him at some point) if he had the James Franklin budget...definitely would have got Barry Odom instead of Hamilton.

Part of the (very limited appeal) was Corn was coming in at cost (I believe he was one of the lowest paid OCs in P4 football).

I am not sure there really is a getting going for Wenzel. Her numbers year over year are not very different although down a little.

Last year she shot 34.7% overall. 33.6% outside. 35.4% inside. Rebounds 3.3, Assists 3.7 and scored 14 ppg with 3.5 turnovers.

This year she shot 33.3% overall. 30.8% outside. 35.8% inside. Rebounds 3, Assists 3.8 and scored 15 ppg with 3.5 turnovers.

The piece that kills me with her is inside shooting is still so bad. Most players shoot 30-40% on perimeter but then shoot 45-55% inside. She is almost as bad inside and out.

That said, the really unfortunate part is how much this team has to rely on her scoring to be competitive because no one else is doing it consistently. There is a bit of catch 22 there though since its tough for other players to step up when Carleigh is taking all the shots.

The team as a whole does shoot better as they are shooting 40.1% overall so makes we wonder if Wenzel took less shots what improvement we might see in scoring. Wenzel and Baker take 25.3 of the teams 65.3 shots per game so tough to judge if they shot less what we might see.

Carleigh is the worst overall in our starting five. Nelson shoots 37%, Baker 42%, Daley 48% and Freelon 53%.

JMFF just fits so well here. Serendipity

OK, on the coach hires: I don't know mush but the Facebook message above is a message that the OC/DC situation at PSU last year is NOT being duplicated. We should think through that with our analysis.

Debating this in my head.

No evidence really suggests that this guy is a QB whisperer. Allar isn't good.

But Penn State has always had 4 star quarterbacks. When was the last time ANY of them were good? Across all OC an an coach combinations?

Penn State is the anti-QBU.

From what I hear up here, Franklin puts his own fingerprints on the offense, which makes me concerned that hiring one of his guys in an advanced role might enable him to make the same game time decisions he has been criticized for on the past

Fwiw people up here think O'Brien is an up and comer

Well that makes the other life rafts for ND look pretty bad. Maybe they will be dumb enough to push to leave the ACC, but that would be like going out for burgers when there is steak at home. Jim Phillips should make a move now while ND's alternatives look like crap. Push them for full membership while dangling their other sports over the G5 meat grinder. The MAC would be a good geographical fit for them.

I'm with you guys. I want as many experienced, proven guys as we can get, especially at QB coach. Trace ain't it. Don't shoot the messenger.

I'm not going to worry about it too much at this point. Franklin has the resume and reputation where you just trust him. He also went with top dollar splash hires the last year or two at PSU and it got him fired. So I think he probably wants people around him he can trust.

At the end of the day, Franklin has alluded repeatedly to the fact that the plays work better with good players. We won 10+ games and multiple ACC titles with a Stiney offense and a ton of high caliber players. I certainly don't anticipate Howle's offense to be anywhere near that anemic, but if we can get that talent level back up, we are going to win a ton of games in the ACC. Coaching and development is crucial too, but without the talent no coach will be able to succeed.
