Familiarity breeds contempt
Saw on Reddit that we interviewed John David Baker from ECU as OC. Don't know much about him but it sounds like it could be a solid hire.
Might be between us and Ole Miss for him
If we never hired him and he was still the DC at PSU, then this would be the second layer of the Franklin Big Dawg'd hire. We here on TKP would be all over this hire.
Just giving you a leg for JSMMFH alone.
Thank you all guys. This is the way it's supposed to work to have a parent pass at 85 after a good life as opposed to having a child pass out of the blue, as many of you know I went through. Alzheimers sucks and watching my dad disappear over the past 4 years has been hard, but he was a good man who lived a good life. He traveled the world birdwatching (his passion) on all 7 continents and saw things I'll never see. The number of bird species in the world is just over 11,000 and his list was over 8500. That's a good life pursuing something that you love. May we all be so lucky in our lives.
My deepest condolences.
Was at the game and many others. Our offense looks totally broken.
We seem incapable of challenging down low at all. Whole offense operates too far from the basket. Everything seems so chaotic.
Maybe a personnel thing... ๐คท but we are going to have a very hard time in the ACC if it stays this way.
Really hope we can get this figured out!
yup that was the idea
Very sorry for your loss.
Garelli falls 10-7 and finishes 4th to close out the Patriot Open
Sorry for your loss
Sending love your way HT. Losing a parent sucks. Lean into the relief, and the support from your friends and family. Its what will get you through.
And here's a link with confirmation of that info.
Basically, they would have gotten the 10 seed regardless if that was in place this year.
I guess this means that teams need to be in the top 9 to guarantee an at-large spot in the CFP, assuming that we will regularly have at least 1, if not 2 conference champs outside of the top 10, and now ND waiting in the wings.
What I remember of the ND/ACC relationship was that Notre Dame was only part of the bowl pool if they were bowl eligible and not in the NY6. (Of course, this was before the bowl selection went completely to backroom deals, and the ACC started adjusting their revenue sharing.)
So, what should happen here is that Notre Dame gets no part of the ACC bowl revenue, and then would owe the ACC the amount of the bowl payout for the first bowl game that they are unable to fill due to not enough teams. But I have strong doubts that such a move will happen.
Next year apparently none of this will matter. Notre Lame it appears signed a new deal with the CFP before this season that says if they finish in the Top 12 starting next season they get an automatic inclusion...so screw the rest of football.
I saw this from RG3 on Facebook:
Instead they dropped the ball and punished BYU for losing, didn't punish Alabama for losing and then flipped Notre Dame and Miami despite neither of them playing a game.
The detail that he ignores is the BYU was #11 in the previous rankings, and thus already below the cutoff line for making the field as an at-large.
But I guess we can't get rational analysis anymore, because the algorithms like shouty hot takes.
They turned down the Pop Tart bowl?
Of all the also-ran games, the Pop Tart Bowl reigns supreme. It's fun and goofy and beloved. What a bunch of whiny bitches
Notre Dame was on shaky ground getting into the CFP anyway, even if we leave out the Alabama/Miami/ND controversy.
If BYU had won the Big 12 title game, then Texas Tech would have gotten the last spot.
This getting bumped up today I thought it was thread for Pry
Yeah I don't like that Alabama of all schools benefitted from this, but as others have said in this thread leaving ND out was the right call.
Come to think of it, no other "blue blood" school is more consistently a pretender than Notre Dame. Every year. Every single year for the entirety of my time following college football. Their best teams are still ranked about 3 to 5 spots higher than they should be.
I'm sad but also relieved to report that my Dad's battle with alzheimers is over.
Yeah. In the paint you can attribute some to Duke defense but so many wide open look bricks were thrown you could build a house.
To be fair, Notre Dame is never at risk of playing on Championship Saturday...dont want to play, accept the risk.
Hopefully by 50+

According to some quick research (AI Chat slop) James Franklin has had a top ten defense in yards allowed in seven out of the last 11 seasons (2014-2024). Pry was his defensive coordinator for three of those seasons (2017, 2019, 2021). Either the AI bot did it's research wrong or we should be deferential to James Franklin's plans. I believe he knows a helluva lot more about building elite defenses than I ever will.
WITH THAT BEING SAID
This is a Questionable Decision
