That quote works on multiple levels. I have about the same level of enthusiasm about this news as Alan Rickman (R.I.P.) had delivering that line.

Texas Tech has one of the best defenses in the country, but they are very similar to Oklahoma in that their offense leaves a lot to be desired.

If we go to a division winner format, I say screw the wildcards. They already had their chance during the regular season to beat those teams.

I feel like it's the opposite. ESPN will jump at any chance to get Notre Dame on their channels because of the NBC contract. They even got a home game out of the deal last year.

Oregon has almost 2 weeks to get fully healthy, they will blow the doors off JMU.

Really would like to see Baker inside against Fournier on offense. Too much roaming the perimeter for Baker

Everyone's trying to get more pieces of the pie to make more money now, at the detriment of literally everyone and everything. What they seem to be missing is that they can have a bigger pie by working together.

Get a 3, give up a 3
Get another 3, give up an And 1

Just trading baskets...

create a steal...get called for a charge

Their best win is wiped! It was in September and they just lost to the same team by 3?touchdowns with -3 rushing yards. No one bad loss doesn't overrule it, but you better believe it's factored in.

Re the metrics. If you can prove to me that those don't factor in: subjective data, recruiting rankings or preseason rankings then yes those should be considered as well, but if they do include any those things, they should be tossed out

I don't like it, but I don't HATE it. My preference would've been:

1. Proven DC from P4 school that we lure away
[decent gap]
2. Pry or Knowles follows Franklin from PSU
[50 feet of crap]
3. "Up and comer" position coach a la Justin Hamilton or Chris Marve

It's weird but I guess I have to give Franklin the benefit of the doubt for now and assume he's not actively knee capping himself with his first major decision.

Yup. It will be this way until we set NIL / Salary caps, an NCAA-wide TV agreement with equal revenue sharing across all teams, a functional player's association, and eliminate any kind of coaching hiring and player portal activity until after the national championship game is concluded.

But they shouldn't have weekly ranking "updates" if it's just gonna be a march madness selection bubblemania at the end of the season anyway

God that website is even worse when they care about football. I couldn't imagine having a game thread where everyone's comment is its own thread. Page 47 was still from the end of their game last night.

I would love for there to be exactly 0 selection shows, due in part because there is no selection to be made because we let records, not opinions, be the deciding factor for entry into the playoffs. My proposal:

  • Divide the college football world into 2 conferences - East & West
  • 4 divisions per conference
  • Each divisional champion (8 total) gets into the playoffs
  • Top 2 teams in each conference get a first round bye
  • 2 wildcard teams per conference (4 total) based on record

No more "independent" BS
No more rankings
No more analyst perceptions influencing the playoffs
No more pompous conference propaganda
Just pure W/L records

Duke leads 34-26 at halftime
Teams have combined for 23 turnovers vs 21 made baskets
Hokies shooting 26% (9 for 35)
Starting five scored FOUR baskets in the first half. 4/25

Yes...

But... ND getting left out is a real head-scratcher. I honestly didn't think this was going to happen BECAUSE this is all about the money. Miami doesn't have anywhere close to the same national draw as ND, and there are very very few programs that do.

I feel like some of the reaction is a little overblown. If Pry was a HC at any other program and got fired we'd be ecstatic with his on paper resume as a DC failed OC.

I found it typically condescending of them, asserting that we didn't have the donor base, nor the student financial wherewithal to sustain what they consider a foolish hire and our foolish dreams of a return to relevance. According to the sabre rattlers, we did no better than UNC in coaching hire, and probably worse. They get a year to blow their horns, or less however much time it takes for them to get over Duke, but I wouldn't bet a train track flattened penny on their chances in Blacksburg next year.

5 for 27 from the floor now. Really hard to watch. Luckily they have gotten to the line to balance it a bit.

Duke actually appears to move the ball on offense better with Fournier off the floor

Holt and Cheetah specifically better not be anywhere near Blacksburg since the UVA game ended.
